I did a rebalance with these and some other antennae.
Check it out HERE

no, i havent played with them too much yet. but i know the need to have LOS and thats why they are abnoctious if you have asteroids

@Philipp__3
You know the vanilla Laser Antenna covers infinite distance (At the cost of more power), right?
Sarah 25 Apr, 2021 @ 5:25am
Hi, I just found this mod and want to ask if it still functions as planned. There are pretty large distances that could be covered with this if it still works as described.
Skallabjorn 7 Mar, 2021 @ 4:27am
Keen has a hard coded limit on antenna ranges.
Gwindalmir  [author] 7 Mar, 2021 @ 12:27am
Late reply, I know.
Mm = megameters, 1Mm = 1000km

Could you make a mod that increases the Antenna Dish range to make them better than the regular laser antenna, since it costs more and is bigger?
Darian Stephens 5 Aug, 2019 @ 7:46am
Yeah, this was a lot more useful back before laser antennas had unlimited range.
cancer352 5 Aug, 2019 @ 12:29am
Planetary radio antenna isn't a radio antenna, but a laser with all it's disadvantages. For 4000 km it obviously consumes approximately 400 MW as the ordinary laser, so the 32 MW are wrong. There is no advantage of all this.
cancer352 3 Aug, 2019 @ 6:24pm
Built 2 large planetary antennas, distance 4500 km, power supply 60 MW and power supply breaks down when switching antenna on. What are the right data, 32 MW as written above can't be true ???
It isn't funny to harvest gold for 2800 superconductors, build antennas and reactors on different planets and in the end all that work was in vain because of wrong power data.
Darian Stephens 31 Jul, 2019 @ 2:15am
Of course, how is the signal going to get back home without an antenna on the drone?
Remember that they all need to be within the radius, so if you have an interplanetary antenna broadcasting to a drone 100km away, you'll need an antenna on the drone capable of also broadcasting 100km away.
Although, you can use relays. Build an interplanetary antenna on your primary planet and them at your destination, and use a normal antenna there and on the drone. The drone is getting a signal from that antenna, which relays the signal from the interplanetary antenna.
cancer352 30 Jul, 2019 @ 8:55pm
do I have to build a planetary antenna only on the broadcasting side to control a far-away drone or is it necessary to build a planetary antenna on the receiving drone too for to control it ?
Droid_22 21 Nov, 2018 @ 8:29pm
pink missing texture when they are damaged?
Major_P0tat0 23 Sep, 2018 @ 3:26am
Im having an issue when the actual antenna dish wont rate but the base still turns and connects, could u try to fix it plz
FREEDOM 15 May, 2018 @ 1:12pm
Connecting from a large ship antenna in earth orbit (just outside the gravity well) down to a small ship antenna on a drone on the planet surface works, but is flaky at best. It will control it for a good 30 seconds before kicking me back to station controls. Whats up with that?
[UG] Cfig99 3 May, 2018 @ 5:26pm
@XxX_legitmuff1n_XxX Mm is mega meters, which i believe is 1000 km (correct me if I am wrong)
BigWeenie420 3 May, 2018 @ 10:11am
what does the "160Mm" mean how much is that
more than 10,000 km ????

tHANK yOU!
FoxtrotJulietBravo 2 Dec, 2017 @ 4:13pm
thank you for not stopping making mods there amazing
Skallabjorn 28 Jul, 2017 @ 6:58pm
@ Darian Stephens, Thanks, that explains why relay stations arent working either.
Darian Stephens 28 Jul, 2017 @ 9:31am
Game bug. Grids don't get loaded clientside that far out on server for performance reasons, and that can't be fixed without virtualizing it, I.E send the client information ABOUT the grid, not the grid itself.
Skallabjorn 28 Jul, 2017 @ 8:36am
Question, the mod seems to load fine on my server but when it connects to the unit at the other end all I get is "connected to ???" and no access to the other grid. any ideas?
RKR_Lodebeard 17 Mar, 2017 @ 1:30am
Hi Phoenix, I am wondering if you would be ammenable to me including your excellent radio antennae in an antenna/beacon modpack I would like to publish. I have made some minor changes as the modpack is mostly to be a rebalance of antennae and beacon ranges/power consumptions and I wanted your dishes to fit in perfectly. If you are open to it I can send you a friend invite so you can take a look at it in my private workshop. Of course I would credit you fully and I would link to your original mod. Please let me know, as these dishes are very useful and I would love for more players to discover them! Thanks
Valadian [GwDR] 18 Jan, 2017 @ 8:45pm
Seems to crash the game everytime you switch to the larger antenna. To top it off it corrupts your save. :(
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 9:40pm
Ah. It is. It is filmed in Space Engineers. Think of Red Vs. Blue. That's the film style we're going for. We don't have time for live action, nor the resources to build sets. And with the games open sandbox, we can build our own sets. Everything is so customizable. This game is great for this film style.
Gwindalmir  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 9:36pm
Space Engineers, the game this mod is for.
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 9:31pm
"SE Video"?
Gwindalmir  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 9:29pm
I assume he wants to use the model. I thought it was in an SE video, but I guess not. If he's using my actual models in a different context, then it's appropriate to ask.
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 9:04pm
Yes. But we want to use this mod. It's best to ask just to make sure as well. Legal reasons.
Darian Stephens 5 Jan, 2017 @ 8:42pm
...You do know they don't have a trademark on ideas, right? If you want to use a block's concept, there should be no issues with making a different design with similar, or identical use.
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 8:21pm
Yes. In the Steam window (not a browser).

The Pilot episode is still in development. We don't want to film too far just incase the developer of a mod that playes a big role says "No". It has a High Possibility of being called "New Frontier".
Darian Stephens 5 Jan, 2017 @ 8:15pm
Are they opening it in Steam? You should be able to comment on anything but private groups (And are disallowed from making reviews of products you don't own), regardless of your purchases.

Also, for my own and anyone else unfamiliar's curiosity... what webseries are you talking about?
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 7:57pm
Wonderful. As to why, I am not sure. The comment wondow just isn't there. He has already spent the required amount of money. We have no idea. But, he only got it so he can communicate with people who may work with us in the future. Thank you for your permission :)
Gwindalmir  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 7:54pm
@Orcbow, unsure of why he can't comment, but that's perfectly acceptable.
Titus 5 Jan, 2017 @ 6:52pm
The director of the web series wanted to ask the developer(s) of this mod with his own account, but he can’t seem to comment for some reason. So I am posting it for him. The message goes: “Hello. I am creating a web series based in Space Engineers and would like permission from the creator(s) of this mod to use it in said series. Your mod and account name(s) will be credited in the credits at the end of each episode it is used in.”
nsgallup 3 Jan, 2017 @ 10:19am
excellent
Gwindalmir  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 10:15am
Sorry for the delay, I posted an update to allow placement in survival.
Some of the construction models are pink, I need to see if I can fix those.
nsgallup 3 Jan, 2017 @ 9:40am
Is there a planned solution for the problem of not being able to place the large antenna in survival mode?
Snoman 27 Dec, 2016 @ 11:25pm
Yeah we're getting the same intermittent connection issue, between two static bases.
Chip Patton 19 Dec, 2016 @ 12:00am
Also, other issues were being reported today, floaty ships, random cleint crashes, etc... I disabled this mod and all those issues went away.
Chip Patton 18 Dec, 2016 @ 7:36pm
The setup this is happening on is a ground base and an orbital "Station" according to the info tab.

We're all experincing this issue on the DS.
Gwindalmir  [author] 18 Dec, 2016 @ 11:14am
@Chip Patton, These antennas move slowly, so if one or both of the grids are moving, then you might lose connection brielfy. They are designed for fixed installations, not moving. If they are fixed, then that would be a game bug, since my mod doesn't do any connection on its own.
Chip Patton 18 Dec, 2016 @ 12:56am
Hello Phoenix, slight issue using this on a DS, the connections are intermenitent. You can only access remote grids about 5 seconds out of 60.
Darian Stephens 27 Nov, 2016 @ 11:04pm
Really? I thought, with the creative tools, it would just place the fully-built block.
Even if it does, I suppose you could go at it with an angle grinder until you've only got the starting component.
Le Puissant MaDMaX 27 Nov, 2016 @ 9:31pm
Got a little workaround to place the antennas in survival, pick the antenna you wanna build, then go alt-f10 to get the space master (guessing you are admin) then click the check box to use creative tools, then go back to placing, hold the ctrl and wheel up to get it further. Then get right back in space master, remove the creative tools options, get out and build the antenna as you would in survival. That's not a "miracle trick" but it worked out for me while i could still build it in a legitimate manner (hey, no cheating!) ;)
Darian Stephens 9 Nov, 2016 @ 9:41pm
Survival. Not creative. You can't change the place distance in survival.
Cheetah 9 Nov, 2016 @ 9:34pm
Read the FAQ in description...
Darian Stephens 9 Nov, 2016 @ 9:18pm
Is there actually a way to place the giant antenna in survival? I tried to build a base in the side of a mountain with the antenna sticking out (Because I thought it'd look cool), and I found that I was unable to place the antenna, regardless of how I oriented myself or it.
Audiopulse 6 Oct, 2016 @ 3:32pm
I guess making it *pop out* a dish from the base - like wheels can be summoned by console - wont work, no?

I might add that I once had a mod installed adding a huge rotor ... it caused to kill players upon placement and/or explode violently right when dropped down.
Gwindalmir  [author] 5 Oct, 2016 @ 11:00pm
I'll look into making it easier to place in surivival, I just need to be careful so I don't break existing mount points.
