This is well done. However, for the record, cavalry using Kontos/Contus that were dismounted to fight on foot (as happened in several battles in the period - especially the Gothic wars) would have looked much like TW's "Germanics wielding Sarissas". While far too common in the game, and they are far too disciplined (dismounted cavalry would not automatically a phalanx make) their actual presence is arguably not all that ahistorical.

Very good fix. This was indeed a mistake an its gr8 to be over with it. I will test ur mod and give my feedback but overall a necessary change!

also noticed on the fourth picture you have on one of the shield of the pike units you see a pike going into your pike units shield making that entire pike line usless since it never touches an enemy making the pike unit less effective/weaker

its a good mod but if a "pike" was to short it would be a "spear" and if a "spear" was to long it was a "pike" so changing the length wouldnt change anything but i do agree on making them smaller but i notice that since they are shorter if you go into a large line some spear dont even come close enough to the enemy but just stands to the side of the first unit and it just clips in :I but just make them a bit bigger but still smaller to the normal size would like it alot and love all the stuff you do

John McFly , nordic pikemen, ERE menaulatoi, gothic pikemen, germanic pikes. There are all vanilla units, reskinned by Avetis - the main author of the CIU project for R2TW ant a member of Fall of the Eagle team.

Referring to the weapon they are named after, I understand that the unit is modeled. Menaulion had blades that were half a meter long.... Which is pretty rediculous by pike standards.

I thought those looked a bit like the theme for the moorish cavalry/elite cavalry lances.

Sadly, no menulatoin models yet. One of the coolest iterations of a pike yet.

as a result of these changes, these troops have lost their role in battle: they were "ultimative infantry killers". deadly for infantry and cavalry but quite vulnerable for any missile units. and they become just a good units for only one fight. it does not matter for nordsmen or germans, but not for goths. and ERE has lost a reason to hire them. but it just only my conclusions))

Thank you. I reduced the pike weapon range to 3 and the pikemen are still holding the line quite well (they also seem more manoeuvrable, but I might be wrong). What are these sad results you are talking about? I can't read russian :/

I did something similar for a unit in Rome 2, gave a pike unit cavalry lances to act as short pikes for celtic units. The range/contact bug was annoying i hope its fixed in Attila

Yes, it`s easy to do - in melee_weapons_tables. but in that way units will lose their tactical roles (excellent anti-infantry troops, deadly, but quite vulnerable). i have tried to do this. about sad results you can read here: http://imtw.ru/index.php?showtopic=37386&view=findpost&p=1435751 (sorry, in russian)
