Link to the Greens Screens seems to be busted
Detonatress  [author] 20 Feb, 2023 @ 4:11pm
I don't know, could be anything such as being higher than 420p, or not enough RAM to hold the whole amount of images within VTFEdit.
Link Freeman 18 Feb, 2023 @ 8:22am
I tried importing an sequence thats 60fps, and VTFedit just crashed. what I did wrong? Also, I used Photoshop to convert a video into image seuence cuz the source material is not from another SFM project.

every time that i need to add something that isnt in the workshop, the prosece makes me want to see how long after being shot in the face by a shotgun does it take for you to die.

OH!!! I SEE
JustSomeDog 30 Nov, 2021 @ 4:42pm
@Detonatress I did. It's on "Snivy.vtf". I decided to "save as..." in order to get the vtf.file
Detonatress  [author] 30 Nov, 2021 @ 3:08pm
@Gothic Croc you do not put gif, you put an animated VTF which you have to make with VTF Edit software. Then you have to put the animated VTF into the materials folder that should be like materials\models\detonatress\props\ and there should be some stuff about the screens there.
JustSomeDog 28 Nov, 2021 @ 8:34pm
Where can I put my snivy gif in the sfm folders?

@Thegetaway Try this one: https://valvedev.info/tools/vtfedit/
Thegetaway 18 Jun, 2020 @ 2:58pm
It looks like VTF edit is down or something as the link takes me to a forbidden page. Anything else I could use to make the vtf files?

At first glance I thought it said "Edible Computer Screens"
Detonatress  [author] 1 Apr, 2018 @ 4:38am
I meant into a VTF, you download VTFEdit, open it, import the jpeg or png from File > Import, click OK on the dialog. Then File > Save As. Name your newly created VTF file and put it in SFM's following path
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\materials\models\detonatress\props

After that, in SFM on the left side menu, right-click on the screens' model and Add Override Materials. Then right-click the screens' model again and Show In Element Viewer > Model. This opens the details about your model including textures. Let's say you want to change the main screen, so click the + of the scr7main. You just need to rename this last part I have selected in this picture to the name of your file https://imgur.com/a/q987Q and then go to this scripts menu up here and select reload all materials https://imgur.com/a/TmQC5 . This should make the image show up on it.

Okay so I am confused, I have no Idea how to convert a jpeg or a png into a vmt using VTFEdit and I can find no tutorials. All I want is to add static images to the sceens. Also I do not know how I am supposed add my vmt files to sfm. What folder? or do I make a new one. I am pretty new to sfm, I am just trying to make a simple poster. Please help because I can find no tutorials online.
Detonatress  [author] 5 Jun, 2017 @ 3:51am
@Master Theria 97 You'd have to apply RT camera to the screen's texture, but note: SFM does not support more than 2 RT cameras and you can only use those RT cameras within the same map. This thing was made for animated textures so that you can simulate signal from more than 2 cameras and show scenes pre-recorded in other maps without the need to use green screens in video editors.
Xeriath 4 Jun, 2017 @ 3:17pm
does it work with RT Camera too?
Detonatress  [author] 27 Mar, 2017 @ 1:25pm
@
MLP Fire Lily Any video, as long as it has been converted to Animated VTF. The frame rate might be a problem if you don't know the original's frame rate.
MLP Fire Lily 24 Mar, 2017 @ 8:46pm
Would i be able to add a custom video that wasnt made in SFM into the model??
Detonatress  [author] 1 Jan, 2017 @ 3:15pm
Yeah, the scene hierarchy thing, I forgot what it was called and thought it was grouping.
MissGirlGuns 1 Jan, 2017 @ 8:23am
@Detonatress found the problem lol.. what you said for the grouping and to click on the gear ontop of anim set editor. grouping isn't in it, so i just clicked the ones in it on and of. the one who showed me the scr7main1 slider is the show scene hierarchy this one has to be off to see it.. yeahhhh
MissGirlGuns 1 Jan, 2017 @ 5:14am
@Detonatress the only thing i did was the things explained in the tutorial. but i will start over and try again. hopefully i get it. thx mate.
Detonatress  [author] 1 Jan, 2017 @ 3:34am
@SemperFi-Mantis, make sure that you did not enable grouping, as this might not show the element you've created. If you did, go to the gear on top of the anim set editor and uncheck that thing.
MissGirlGuns 31 Dec, 2016 @ 6:43am
Hi guys, I'm following this tutorial, all goes well till i have to set create animation-set for element, it will not show up in my animation set editor. i'm doing it over and over again and follow the tut step by step even pause it. but when on the point for create animation-set for element i'm stuck. anybody know a solution
Detonatress  [author] 18 Jul, 2016 @ 10:52am
What I mean by not adding .vtf: when you set the $basetexture path, have it as models\detonatress\props\yourfilehere not models\detonatress\props\yourfilehere.vtf
Detonatress  [author] 18 Jul, 2016 @ 10:47am
Heya. Make sure you don't add .vtf at the end of the file name. And that the image is exactly where the static screen textures are located. Also make sure that the path written in the string of $basetexture is exactly models\detonatress\props\file name, not just file name. Purple+Black means the path you've put is incorrect.
weezer enthisiast 22 May, 2016 @ 4:39pm
ok.
Detonatress  [author] 22 May, 2016 @ 4:34pm
@ I WANNA BE A REAL BOY You are limited to one (or in some cases two) RT cameras. You won't be able to pull off something like this with just 2 cameras. Nor can you show videos of a different map.
weezer enthisiast 22 May, 2016 @ 4:26pm
Have you tried rt cameras?
Detonatress  [author] 15 Jan, 2016 @ 4:55am
@ConfederateJoe Ah ok. I've seen the GIF too now. Nice job!
ConfederateJoe 15 Jan, 2016 @ 4:51am
@Detonatress
I got it figured out, nvm! Thx!
Detonatress  [author] 15 Jan, 2016 @ 3:26am
@ConfederateJoe Are you sure you picked editable_computer_screens instead of the computer_screen_bank (the original model)? If you are using the right one, can you make a video or show some pictures of how you are trying to do it?
ConfederateJoe 14 Jan, 2016 @ 7:55pm
the override controls are not working.
Detonatress  [author] 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:33am
You're welcome, hope that helped.
Inanis_Cor 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:32am
@Detronatress Thanks.
Detonatress  [author] 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:30am
@Blaze there are two of these models around, there's the original named computer_screen_bank, and then there's this one called editable_computer_screens. This one's default aspect should be grey with blue screens, the original is just grey and does nothing. Also, make sure you apply $basetexture to a Scr material, not the computer_screen_bank material that's first in the list.
Inanis_Cor 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:27am
@Detonatress I mean the model is completely grey before applying $basetexture. Is that normal?
Detonatress  [author] 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:25am
@Blaze do you mean the entire model is checkered or just the screen when applying $basetexture (which is normal until you put an animated vtf that you've made yourself and point the path of $basetexture to it).
Inanis_Cor 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:23am
Anybody else getting a textureless model, or is that just me?
