Wow Kooth Odok - you have really gone to the trouble of restoring Portland Terminal !
I hope you have given the scenario a new life.
Kooth Odok 31. okt. 2021 kl. 0:40
To get the "Portland Terminal" assets needed for this route, follow the link above to the Railworks America website and download the "G-TraX Maine Maritime Switching Route". Once installed, you will find a folder called "MaineMaritime" in your G-TraX folder. Copy this new folder and rename the copy to "PortlandTerminal".

Now once you have the folder named "PortlandTerminal", go into it and delete the contents of the RailVehicles folder you find inside. You will then need to use a tool, such as RW_Tools or the newer TS-Tools to edit the scenario's in this (Atlantic Bay Terminal, The Timesaver Route) route to use the rolling stock and loco's that are now in the "MaineMaritime" folder.

Hi GreatNortherner. I played around with several of the extra sidings and Destinations that I had placed, renaming, deleting and replacing, swapping lengths, etc.
But only those at B&M Baked Beans Factory that refuse to play ball.

Hi Roland, I'm not sure if Maine Maritime shipped with all of the rolling stock that PT did. Maybe not if some of the original DLC equipment was owned by DTG, but I don't know for sure.

I don't know what could be wrong with the markers. Did you restart the editor after placing them? I find that sometimes the editor has trouble using scenario-based markers in the same session that they were placed in, but all is well when the editor gets restarted.
RolandBP 21. aug. 2021 kl. 18:25
Hi, GreatNortherner I have the Portland Terminal route myself and have started writing scenarios for it, but one "would be" subscriber is unable to play the scenario, due to not having some of the Rolling Stock I used.
I gather he has the "Maine Marine" route, which he stated uses different assets.

While you are here, I cannot get a track marker "Siding" and "Destination" to work in two locations next to the B & M Baked Beans Factory.
The markers are placed, one at the entrance to the sidings and one at the headshunt.
I have given them names, which show up in the list of Destinations, but any instructions are not accepted as a legitimate option.
In the map view the sidings are visible but do not have a name visible.
I'm assuming it may be something to do with the Track Instructions??

Hi Roland, which assets are missing for this route? In case you're referring to good old Portland Terminal, Rick made that one freeware quite a while ago: https://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/route-collection?view=document&id=3029:g-trax-maine-maritime-switching-route&catid=20:route-collection :-)

Are there any other routes of similar size that are based in a similar era, that are suitable for this Timesaver idea?
But have assets that are currently available.
Warwick Rail 19. aug. 2021 kl. 9:16
Here is a list of workshop scenarios for the route.
RolandBP 15. aug. 2021 kl. 23:37
What a beautiful add-on.
hayward.john48 13. juli 2020 kl. 4:11
This is a great route with some switch moves needing some thought but that's why you have a Conductor!
hayward.john48 13. juli 2020 kl. 4:08
Copy Maine Maritime, change name of copy to Portland Terminal and it works. Not all assets of PTM are in MM but enough and ABT works fine using this simple dodge.
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 2. feb. 2020 kl. 1:07
@Parakeet X: I'm afraid the Maine Maritime can't be used as a substitute. The PT/MM route's assets (G-Trax folder) were moved to a new folder and so all the internal references in this route here will keep linking to the Portland Terminal no matter what.

Though come to think of it, with some patience it ought to be possible to make this work by using RW Tools' "multi-file search & replace" function and change all the paths in the route's tiles. I'll try to remember to look into that when I have a bit more free time than I do now.
Parakeet X 1. feb. 2020 kl. 11:38
Would this route work if you have GTrax's Maine Maritime installed, since that's more or less a reincarnation of Portland Terminal?
Railroadfox63 26. aug. 2017 kl. 16:01
oh hey great northerner, i like this route,
jaymac2 14. juni 2017 kl. 16:50
Hi Great Northener. This is a great switching route but there are no diesel scenarios in the workshop. So I have written four which I will publish in the workshop shortly. Two are conventional with detailed instructions but as you said it is difficult to set up paths, so the other two are marshalling. Hope this wii encourage more use of your clever route.
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 17. mar. 2017 kl. 2:33
J M T 625, when I built this route the Portland Terminal was still available in the store and it is one of my favorite routes too. I have used far too many things from it on this route here to try and remove it and find matching assets in other routes. Sorry, I simply lack the time and patience for that.

Well that case if i do clone and modify the route to my liking and do upload it here as i wouldn't know how to elsewhere i will be sure to give you credit as the original creator.
Though my scenery skills are not exactly to this level.
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2016 kl. 5:05
Thanks for the comment. I won't make any more changes to this route, as I see it an extension would go beyond the "Timesaver" concept (which I've already stretched quite far). This route's intention is all about solving puzzles.

However that's just how I see it, please feel free to clone and modify the route as you like and upload it here or elsewhere.

A part of me feels like it could be bigger in the shunting area like a branch line with some shunting areas every few miles.
And some railroad crossings as i like to toot my horn at something besides every time i switch the direction of travel.
gudatbahn 13. dec. 2015 kl. 4:05
very good for shunting :steamhappy:
HingusDingus 26. aug. 2015 kl. 5:19
Okay, will do, but am having a little trouble at the moment, since the famous "non-zero speed prior to changing direction" error keeps popping up, but will definitly let you know :)
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 26. aug. 2015 kl. 0:22
Please feel free to post scenarios to other websites. It would be great if you could send me an email or PM (RWA) when they are online so that I can add links to the route description above. :-) Cheers!
HingusDingus 25. aug. 2015 kl. 10:46
Great Northerner, would you mind If I made a secnario for this route, and posted it to Railworks America?
bswitz 23. aug. 2015 kl. 11:37
Thanks for the info Michael.
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 23. aug. 2015 kl. 4:42
Thanks for your kind comments!
@bswitz: I think there are some scrap gondolas (plus many other unique models) in Dick Cowen's Britkits Steel Mill Freight pack (payware). My own old Gondolas+Boxcars pack also has some scrap cargos if I remember correctly. That freeware pack is available here: http://golden-age-rails.com/packslegacy/modfreight1.html
bswitz 22. aug. 2015 kl. 12:11
Excellent route, Michael! Like mentioned below by aec_av590, I placed some North American Locos and cars, and next thing I knew, it was 2 1/2 hours later. I prefer switching Scenarios to point-to-point, and this certainly can keep you busy (and thinking). One question: Do you know of any N. A. gondolas that have a scrap metal load?
aec_av590 21. aug. 2015 kl. 13:31
...Great little route - placed down some UK industrial locos and wagons and happily lost 2 hours moving wagons around! Many thanks for your efforts in making a great little shunting route which should give me hours of fun!
avandy80 20. aug. 2015 kl. 13:04
Look forward to running it!:steamhappy:
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 20. aug. 2015 kl. 10:06
Thanks much for all your kind comments. No bug reports, neither here nor on RWA... this has got to be a first for my routes! :-)

The route is now final, scenarios can be uploaded.

Thank you for a great layout to create senarios within. A real world situation, well done GreatNortherner!
rockyandjohn 17. aug. 2015 kl. 20:50
Great little route, many hours of fun to be had with this one thank you for posting Michael.
Regards,
JW.
djsyn 17. aug. 2015 kl. 19:51
Very enjoyable. Thanks for all your effort.
FlyNavy_BeeKayVR 17. aug. 2015 kl. 12:30
Thanks GreatNortherner, I am a fan of the Timesaver implementations since ages. I love athmospheric dense situations, not long distant races...
Thanks again.
Bernd (BeeKay)
GreatNortherner  [ophavsmand] 17. aug. 2015 kl. 8:23
Thanks for your kind comments!

The route has 50% of the needed ratings to make it final. Here's your chance if you want to suggest any changes or improvements. :-)
N1QGM 16. aug. 2015 kl. 7:09
Looks really good, Michael! Enough to keep a switcher busy for several hours at a time.
Best,
Marc
