Hi there. I'm after some advice please. I want to make my own camera overlay, but don't know how. Can you help please?

Thanks in advance,
Woostyboy :)

I've checked the mod - as far as I can tell it was still working. Anyhow I checked the definitions for the stock cameras and noticed there were some new parameters for small block cameras related to voxel placement so I updated the mod with these today. :)

If you are having issues with this mod please reder to the troubleshooting tip at the bottom of the description - it's likely a mod loading order error.
Mordicon 14 Apr, 2017 @ 4:18pm
Yes still use or would if it worked again, is one of my number 1 mods, mining with current camera you cant see notting while looking down unless you turn off the drill . would love to see this mod working again
Lola 8 Apr, 2017 @ 1:14pm
Thanks! Really appreciate it :)
CheeseJedi  [author] 8 Apr, 2017 @ 1:13pm
Thanks for responding. I've not had SE installed for some time and not updated this or any of my other SE mods for quite while.

I was curious as to how many people still use this - it's got nearly 5000 subscribers. :/

If I get time I'll see if I can sort out the issue you mention.
Lola 8 Apr, 2017 @ 12:44pm
Yes! My friend and I are using it, but after the update a while back the camera is obstructed by what looks like saran wrap over the lens (plastic wrap) :\
CheeseJedi  [author] 8 Apr, 2017 @ 3:12am
Is anyone stil using this mod?
xcollector_21x 11 Jul, 2016 @ 6:42pm

here is a not working link to my server screenshot DS on the stable build.

I've checked this on my DS and it seems to be working fine. I've added a public screenshot to my screenshots showing this woking.

Considering that Space Engineers stable branch has not been updated for about 4 weeks and this mod hasn't changed since 25th Feb it's highly unlikely that it's broken of it's own accord in the last two weeks.

I suspect you have another mod loaded that redefines the stock camera. If this is the case then that's what's breaking it. Perhaps try changing the order so that the other mod is moved from before this mod in the list to afterwards, or vice versa.
CheeseJedi  [author] 11 Jul, 2016 @ 7:35am
Ok thanks for letting me know - will test this on a DS on the stable build.
xcollector_21x 11 Jul, 2016 @ 12:23am
its not worked for about 2 weeks we changed from dev to stable by rerolling the server and it still not working on DS stable the server had to reinstalled to run stable its a pain in the but its the most need mod the guy below me got the same problem thanks hope you can fix it
naerbo 10 Jul, 2016 @ 2:52pm
Today in stable branch it stopped working...
CheeseJedi  [author] 22 Jun, 2016 @ 6:04am
@xcollector_21x - thanks for the heads up. This mod was published before the stable/dev branches were introduced, and works fine on a DS running the stable branch (this is default) - I've just tested this on my DS.

I'm currently unable to test this on a dev branch DS so am unsure of the behaviour. I'd argue that running a DS on the dev branch you're going to have to expect brokenness from all angles, including otherwise working mods.

Based on my current understanding of how the modding and branches works, I'm not going to re-publish this mod from the dev branch (so it works in dev build versions without warnings/brokenness etc.) as it'll then throw a warning up for people on the stable build.
xcollector_21x 22 Jun, 2016 @ 12:34am
this mod has stoped working today im sorry to say im playing on a DS with the Dev option that may have something to do with it your the 3rd mod ive got on my list to tell
OXxzyDoOM 11 May, 2016 @ 12:41pm
Good work!!! I love this mod
Mordicon 24 Feb, 2016 @ 6:24pm
Outstanding
CheeseJedi  [author] 24 Feb, 2016 @ 5:24pm
Updated.
Mordicon 20 Feb, 2016 @ 3:08pm
Will we see a update to clear up the new scratch's they put on the camera's any time soon ?
CheeseJedi  [author] 4 Dec, 2015 @ 3:48am
@Golden Dragon - these mod loading errors have been a thing with DS as long as I can remember.

My DS randomly throws up loading errors, and they can be different each time. I use this camera mod on mine and, having just restarted it, it's reporting errors relating to one of the other mods on there but not this one.

As long as it loads ok in the client that's all that matters, as no part of this mod contains anything that is strictly needed on the server.

I'd recommend just ignoring these sorts of errors in the SpaceEngineersDedicated.log file.
Golden Dragon 3 Dec, 2015 @ 2:30pm
Yes, DS.
CheeseJedi  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 8:59am
@Golden Dragon - I've just checked the mod and it loads fine in offline/single player client with zero loading errors, such as the ones you've posted below.
Where did you see these errors listed? Was this on a dedicated server?

I think the Devs had subscribed to the "Aliens Franchise" school of camera overlays lol.
Kahn Bloodbane 4 Oct, 2015 @ 9:43am
FINALLY! someone made that! thank you SO SO MUCH! I mean we got HD cameras with good imaging even now... why we couldn't in space engineers really made me wonder! thanks!
CheeseJedi  [author] 20 Sep, 2015 @ 7:11am
@Azzaman! - this mod only adjusts the stock camera. Other mods will need to take care of this sort of thing themselves.
Azzaman! 19 Sep, 2015 @ 7:16pm
-Can create space crafts that venture in to deep space, gravity generators, artificial mass..
-has shit monitors that are low res with a refresh rate slower then your grandma on smack.

This needed to happen, things look a tad off ATM with vanilla cameras.
Hopefully this works with other mods that modify cameras like dockign cams and telescopes.
Masterchef365 4 Sep, 2015 @ 7:11pm
Ah, much better. Usually I use the 'Transparent UI' pack, but it's nice to see someone has made an easy to install way to fix the incredibly opaque camera textures. Keep up the good work!
Paul Drive 3 Sep, 2015 @ 12:38am
This is a much needed mod for the camera! I cant wait to try it out!
Hootmon_Y_Knot 29 Aug, 2015 @ 4:27am
The dev who thought the degraded stock view was a good idea, was soo wrong. Much Fail. Thanks for righting one of SE's more glaring warts.
Sinner_D 26 Aug, 2015 @ 5:33pm
Finally, hope this becomes stock someday. Thanks!!!
BLACK۞EYE 26 Aug, 2015 @ 2:38pm
OMG where this mod was before? Thank you, master CheeseJedi!
CheeseJedi  [author] 26 Aug, 2015 @ 7:10am
@ricolvs Unfortunately the game as it currently stands does not support multiple overlay textures, nor has a mechanism to detect how it's being connected to so I don't see any way of making it do this.

Plus these are presumably digital cameras so there should be no (noticable) quality degradation simply because it's being connected to 'remotely' like you might expect with analogue transmission.
Jay 25 Aug, 2015 @ 4:25pm
you should make cameras on the same ship have this texture and remote controlled cameras have the original one, it'd be great
Dark_453 25 Aug, 2015 @ 10:58am
Good Job Mr Cheese And thank you for your time and effort Building This!
Steven 24 Aug, 2015 @ 7:05pm
Great addition to any mod list, it is always good to see a warhead explode through a crystal clear camera.
caffiend 24 Aug, 2015 @ 6:10pm
TBH even if it is for a private server, I've snagged it anyways. The stock camera overlay is an annoyance. If I'm running an engineer in DEEP space, I for sure am not skimping on good quality imaging systems. Hell, with all that our engineers do, having a half-assed image for the camera makes no sense.
CheeseJedi  [author] 24 Aug, 2015 @ 4:48pm
Before/After image added. This mod was created for use on a dedicated server (and therefore required to be shared publicly); not so much for general consumption hence the lack of images. Feel free to use it in your worlds.
woostyboy 24 Aug, 2015 @ 3:53pm
Hi CheeseJedi
I'd really like to have a full page cross hair image for docking cameras but don't know how. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Thank you.
TheDuke540 24 Aug, 2015 @ 12:55pm
What's with everyone just uploading stuff and not showing what it looks like? You would probably get many more subscribers if you had at least a thumbnail...
Acarii 24 Aug, 2015 @ 6:55am
You're probably gonna want to have screenshots. A before/after is generally the way to go with graphical mods.
