@Rider: Sorry for the late reply but it replaces the normal carrier unit

So you can make them in all cities without need for water

So you can decide if you rather want to play a aquatic map where you would most likely want the vanilla carrier since it has more movements
or use this mod where you can build hover carriers in all cities once you have the necessary research and you can park them anywhere you want aside from i think mountains and those glacier tiles on the northern and southern map edges

Does the add a hover carrier along with the sea carrier or does it replace the sea carrier with the hover carrier?

The Carrier looks the same, but just 'hovers' over land.

cdbeakin - i know of that site and it just didn't work for me. Just didn't. Installed crapload of scripts (i has chrome), tampermonkey and stuff, but nothing. 5 minutes ago i accidentaly launched edge and, out of sheer curiousity, decided to try to use the steam workshop downloader thing...Voila. Angelus Mortis : at some in future, fuel is irrelevant , like fuel cell systems tech turn high atomic radiation(the universe unlimited supply of nitrogen,hdrogen,carbon,methane and others ) into unlimited energy by recycling the cells. thou cells need to be ejected and recharged on daily basis. like water at high movement can be circuited to hydro plant to turn to power then dumped out old water and in with new contsant cycle.

wouldn't it, like, make sense to keep the normal carrier, and add the helicarrier as a separate unit? it does have quite a few disadvantages after all.

@Zagreus A Helicarrier being a much larger craft has the ability to use alternate forms of propulsion, RAM/SCRAM/Turbine driven thrust could never provide a power-weight ratio to lift something as large as a carrier. Now using pulse-detonation engines or Ion based drive tech, you could achieve massive craft flight and sustained operation. Also, Alien world Gravity could be 1/2?

@Zagreus And being that this is scifi and landing on an alien planet, your point about fuel is totally irrelevant as likely all the aircraft and the carrier run off some form of nuclear power making them virtually unlimited in fuel. At least the carriers for that matter. Its theoretically feasible.

I always put Helicarriers under the "awesome but impractical" tag. I mean, the whole point of an aircraft carrier is to get smaller fightercraft to a launch point while providing a refueling and rearming base. A helicarrier would consume so much fuel just staying in place that it would have to limit its aircraft complement just to keep its own fuel tanks in flight...

So it might be feasible in this game, using floatstone, but it sure as hell would never work on earth in CiV =p

Love it, I would love to see a enhanced or similar unit in the civ 5 information era? Since it would make sense and not just 1 type of a carrier when you have all these X squads etc doing the job

By that I mean have carriers start off as they are in the vanilla game, then at some point (perhaps third or fourth tier) shift to being a hover unit. Or for that matter, have the aerial version be a choice upgrade instead of a default.

Also, the observatory building quest should still give you +1 movement. Although I'm not sure if this is balanced tbh.

Hi S1GK1LL. Thanks for your feedback. I reduced the movement speed for two reasons. 1. To slow down carrier progress towards opponent cities - They are still a huge threat to enemy cities. 2. The immense force required to lift and move such a huge object. Due to buoyancy, there is no need to lift objects on water. I'd be interested to know if you think the mod needs further balancing, e.g. at any affinity level, do carriers / tacjets seem too powerful?

I love this idea. It seemed obvious to me that this was the direction the dev's should have gone initially. Not sure I agree with the penalty to moving on land. A cushion of air is a cushion of air regardless of the surface beneath it. I also think that with water being as movement cost feature-less as it is the land movement penalty seems overstated.:elindustry:

Nyancrouch - My pleasure. It was quite a simple change really.Should work with other units too. E.g. for Carriers, just change the domain from 'Naval' to 'Hover'.

Now that I've used it, I'll make a review. First, I love it. The design is decent, the abilities are great. What I want now, is for you to make this for Civ 5 as well. I would cheer if you did! Especially, if you used the model from the movie, with the four turbies at the corners, and the logo on the deck :)

Meanmanx321 - What would be the point? It's the same unit but it travels on land and costs a bit more. The reason I made this mod is to make the Tacjet a more useful unit ( on all maps) that is not confined to defending cities, but can be transported on carriers to attack other opponent cities / units.

When Beyond Earth gets all its DLC out, I suspect we will have something like this. Thank you for giving us a fix until we do. That said, when Beyond Earth DOES get its big DLCs out, I think it will be better then Civ V. Thats right people, I said it. Read it and weep. Or clap. Or do whatever the fuck you want. So long as you read it.

Just wanted to ask is it possible to create a satalite version.. so put it in the satalite view... since it a giant flying aircraft carrier you think it be in the upper atmosphere.. I think this also brings up the question.. why don't we have a mod that adds orbital battleships to the game?? I mean lets be honest, no one likes the stupid starship game sid made =P
