I like the hydrogen idea but in survival its really unrealistic to use as propulsion source in space, could you find that much ice in starting out on an asteroid, i searched maybe a dozen and got 8% full in 4 hours of playing, its a big risk and gamble.
You could make a crossover between both propulsions, i think it would really help survival realism and say you was low on ice you run just on the ion engines to save oxygen and hydrogen, as you previously stated its not a planetary lander.
And that's excluding ice used to produce oxygen (hydrogen and oxygen production are independent of each other, but can take place simultaneously). Seems like hydrogen thrusters need a fair bit of balance adjustment.
I'll have to see how the air-breathing engines work when they come out.
However can i put in a request for a version with gattling guns for protection against meteor showers?
