@ High Ground: he already has, and converting most of his ship designs to combat variants are not only surprisingly easy, but is only a slight modification to the design. just look through his older stuff, and you will find the old worlds where he built them.

You seriously need to build a (Vanilla) combat version of this ship, it would be epic ! ! !

I'd hesitate to ascribe any "realistic" values to the hydrogen engines. They currently don't draw any electrical power but also don't use oxidiser either.
aaronlukemarshall 6 Nov, 2015 @ 4:26am
i thought as much, but then they were made for planet takeoffs and then switch to ion engines.
I like the hydrogen idea but in survival its really unrealistic to use as propulsion source in space, could you find that much ice in starting out on an asteroid, i searched maybe a dozen and got 8% full in 4 hours of playing, its a big risk and gamble.
You could make a crossover between both propulsions, i think it would really help survival realism and say you was low on ice you run just on the ion engines to save oxygen and hydrogen, as you previously stated its not a planetary lander.

278 tonnes, lol

And that's excluding ice used to produce oxygen (hydrogen and oxygen production are independent of each other, but can take place simultaneously). Seems like hydrogen thrusters need a fair bit of balance adjustment.

Cool Stuff, How much ice does it consume to fill to max?
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 5 Nov, 2015 @ 4:07pm
Just over two minutes of full forward thrust. That's enough to reach maximum speed and decelerate to a stop 8 times.
aaronlukemarshall 5 Nov, 2015 @ 9:20am
How quickly does it run out of hydrogen?
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 4 Nov, 2015 @ 8:13pm
Very much so.
mcarchitect01 4 Nov, 2015 @ 5:50pm
Homeworld inspired?
Cain Bennu 3 Nov, 2015 @ 11:40pm
i *think* it allows for a hover
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 3 Nov, 2015 @ 9:46pm
I don't see how this ship could be very useful in atmosphere unless there's a way to make it hover without using too much energy. I built it do act as a mobile base, only moving to relocate between asteroids.

I'll have to see how the air-breathing engines work when they come out.
Cain Bennu 3 Nov, 2015 @ 9:01pm
when keen releases planets they are going to release atmospheric engines. these wont work in space, and will not have the fuel requirements that hydrogen does.
Webmind 1 3 Nov, 2015 @ 1:37pm
Is it rated for atmosphere? The bulges for the downward-facing thrusters would make ideal landing gear mounting points...
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 3 Nov, 2015 @ 4:32am
What do you mean by air-breathing?
Cain Bennu 2 Nov, 2015 @ 6:38pm
Do you plan on making an air-breathing one? i would also love to see a Duchessa class built for Battle-line work. Ive sort of already built one based off the hull, but it utilizes mods and cant fit very large drones (the Tyranno class pirate frigate i built a long while ago) but i would prefer to see you make it =)

Alright, well this is it. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=482723833 Tried to keep a similar shaping theme since I liked your ships. Think I have a blueprint slightly farther along, but not that's uploaded yet.

shadowpheonix787, I don't mind if you link it here, other people might be interested as well.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 1 Nov, 2015 @ 10:54pm
PS thanks for the compliments.

I play with meteors off so I don't know how many turrets are needed or where they'd be best located. I guess they'd work well where the running lights (red and green blinking lights) are now, just remove those and replace the armour block beneath with a conveyor.

Stone, another great update as always. The Duchessa still reigns as the best mobile base there is out there. Thank you for bringing her up to date.

However can i put in a request for a version with gattling guns for protection against meteor showers?
shadowpheonix787 1 Nov, 2015 @ 4:00pm
Seems awkward to link it here. Sent a contact request so I can send it in a message. Don't wanna link a knockoff on your page, y'know? lol
nortdakotahitman 1 Nov, 2015 @ 6:12am
Love the look.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 1 Nov, 2015 @ 5:38am
Thanks.

Link your ship and I'd be happy to take a look
shadowpheonix787 1 Nov, 2015 @ 5:18am
Have a ship I'm still working on that follows your basic design. Would love input or help if you'd take a look. Glad to see you're back.
