the filename for this is '398927211178808796_legacy.bin'

should i rename it to communications_detour.vpk or communications_detour.bsp?

to amjo below, half life uplink was a demo made using cut content and ideas, thats why it has things that dont appear in the main game, like the vortigaunt mass grave

it does remind me of Half Life Uplink, though. which was a promo mini game developed by gearbox back in the days. (it's not a cut content, but rather a promotional item - as opposed to some people who mentioned below)

After i turn on the coms and bring down the chopper. there is a door with a green button after it, it doesn't open, im assuming this is how you continue? otherwise, i turned it on and music played. that's it! poof. no ending.

For some reason it will not load the map. It always says "map loade failed: communications_detour not found or invalid" Not sure what I am doing wrong

When I type map communications_detour into the console command nothing shows up. It says that the mod is in my subs.

Nice map, I enjoyed it up until the end of the boss fight. I think alot of the constructive feedback in that area is spot on.

If you ever put more work out in the future I'd be interested to play it

This was an enjoyable map. It has a few rough edges (see JamaicanDave's discussion post), but is fun to play overall. My biggest gripe is that the backtracking didn't feel intuitive at all. I thought the level had glitched when the door with the glowing green button next to the comm tower (the one which has no collision) didn't open, but sure enough, I was supposed to backtrack all the way to the start. And it was kind of anticlimactic. So, like Quarter-Life said, the first 2/3 of the map is great. The last 1/3, not so much. Good work though!

This was a very fun map, and you obviously put time into it. Good work and thank you for the experience!

Now for a little constructive, yet friendly, criticism. The first 2/3 of play was pretty great; however, the last 1/3 of play was where I saw some room for improvement. (1) The tower area and landscape, I thought, could be polished to resemble a more authentic BM look (e.g., the trees and tower cables looked a bit out of place; there was also a mechanical door near the tower that let me pass through it). (2) But more importantly, the trip back to the beginnng felt unchallenging and anticlimactic.

In any case, I really enjoyed playing. I look forward to whatever else you might put out!

Like others were saying, that first trek across that canyon reminded me so much of Opposing Force that I was half expecting to see that Vortigaunt with the knife sticking out of his back at some point...but oh well, knives were never Freeman's style anyways :gordon:

The opening area from opposing force was a TREMENDOUS walk through memory lane, so I applaude the choice of remaking that area.
