I have a made a version that fixes the issue (in the sbc file the large and small varieties both pointed to large for some reason).

Hi this mod doesn't seem to work with small ship blocks. When I try to place it on a small ship, it says unable to place Transparent block.

would you be willing to make a bunch of these for all the block types but framed like a tank hell basically im kinda looking for transparent aluminium blocks to replace window panes so as to do away with doubling up windows to get rid of that alcove they create

This mod is going to make placing blocks that I don't want to touch anything so much better. Thanks a million!

Alright, that was more than I was hoping for. Thanks!

I think it should be possible, but you should look at devs tutorial to DX11 textures, as they are using quite unique way to make textures transparent ( check holographic console tutorial and files). If i remember right, the uncompiled models of in-game blocks can be found in dedicated server files or somewhere else in tools folder inside of games directory.

I think the best way to approach this is to download the holographic console files( or just subscribe to it and open the sbm), try to get your head around how alpha texture works in SE, and play with it in order to make some part of that console transparent ( some of the parts already are transparent, you can work with that to make whole part of console dissapear) . After that, you can check the wheels and suspension textures, and do the same thing with alpha channels. I couldn't do that, becouse armor blocks are splitted into 6 different texture files, and i had hard time trying to get this to work.
Good luck!

@JWA This mods works by shrinking the visible model of a block to size so small, it cannot be seen, while still maintaining default collision model (1x1 cube), and setting no textures (it appears grey). I've tried several ways to do this, but i couldn't get my head around DX11 textures, as devs make terrible modding tutorials IMHO, and most of the tutorials found on the net are very much outdated. Some mods have uncompiled models inside their directory ( archives are found in something like in %appdata%/spaceengineers/mods ), and by uncompiled i mean they are saved in format that you can open in any modelling software (those models are later compiled with speficic program and settings to create .mwm model used by game) and see how are they made.

Meant to add: Even if you can't or aren't interested in doing it, if you happen to know if it's possible or if there is some hard wall preventing it from working let me know so I can go in the right direction myself or not waste time with it. Thanks.

Hey I use this quite a bit, so thanks for that. I'm wondering if you could do the same thing with a standard wheel; make it and preferably the suspension as well invisible. The goal is a quick and dirty way to create hover-craft effects without fancy sensor setups. I'm just starting to learn about modding for this game so I have no idea if that is even possible but it seems like the wheel at least could be. Any response is appreciated.

Going to have to build an 'invisible' ship now XD I blame you. Great mod tho ^_^

time to make spaceships that will be impossible to make IRL!!! +1

Very cool, starting to use it on a build where windows don't look quite right, but I can't just leave it open. If it were just a little cloudy, we could call it "Transparent Aluminum".

sorry I knew that I just could not resist Ü

@Central Consciousness

DX 11?

For the sake of Aesthetics i've added Large version of this block to the mod. Creating a version that has no collision would be hard for me right now, but all the files i've used to create this mod are inside the sbm file. If someone does the no-collision version, i'd be happy to add it to this mod.

Nice, but why only for small ship? Would be nice to have small and big ship variants each one having a version that has and doesn't have collision.
