Depending on how the changes to soldier training have affected things, I may give this a much-needed update for WotC. Expect some changes to the class, because of the differences in how abilities are trained and the various new abilities/features added to the game, but the core concept should stay the same.
I'd like to see if it's viable to give a regular XCOM soldier class the option to use the Skirmisher's bullpup carbine as well as various other faction abilities that would fit the theme. Given the changes to XCOM and alien power levels in WotC, I'd like to make sure this class is in a pretty strong place since it lacks any real specialist abilities that you would otherwise probably want on a given mission.

have a good one!
It's pretty simple from looking at the ini files to give him a class feature (Say quick draw) then in his available weapons you add the pistol.
They're not for leading the charge, though; that's still a Ranger's job.
Anyway, I'm working (slowly) on the GTS update.
If it's meant to be up front and lead the charge maybe give them the to treat half cover as full cover.
Sorry you didn't like it; as mentioned in the description feel free to check out other classes!
@paulgsavill I noticed that. I'll take a look at it, but it's a problem with the pistol skill itself - it just doesn't have a description. I might be able to 'fix' that, but I have a strong dislike of mod bloat, i.e., changing things in the game that have nothing to do with the mod's stated purpose (adding a single class).
I know it's a small thing, but if it can be fixed, it makes your mod look more professional.
@Solam The class just uses standard assault rifles, as well as a sidearm for killing alien scum in emergencies
@ljsalty I'll consider it, but Steam Workshop is infinitely more convenient.
Thanks for the bug report though, because I do want to make sure it works properly for everyone - are you running any other mods?
