So hows the WotC update coming along?
gitrekt 12 May, 2018 @ 6:53pm
Does it start with insane HPS or is it balanced?

Hi guys,

Depending on how the changes to soldier training have affected things, I may give this a much-needed update for WotC. Expect some changes to the class, because of the differences in how abilities are trained and the various new abilities/features added to the game, but the core concept should stay the same.

I'd like to see if it's viable to give a regular XCOM soldier class the option to use the Skirmisher's bullpup carbine as well as various other faction abilities that would fit the theme. Given the changes to XCOM and alien power levels in WotC, I'd like to make sure this class is in a pretty strong place since it lacks any real specialist abilities that you would otherwise probably want on a given mission.

Any plans on an updated version for War of the Chosen?
Sturm Krahe 23 Jul, 2017 @ 1:05pm
I'm still seeing this issue of the class being unable to equip armor, which seems to have never been fixed, or has broken again in the meantime. Can someone please give me some info on how to fix this? None of the current 'fixes' I'm using do anything.
UselessFool 26 Jun, 2016 @ 7:40pm
Alright, found the .ini files you need to change so you can wear armor. Turns out Steam keeps the Workshop items in their own folder outside of the game itself. Hopefully this is the folder you guys need as well. Go to SteamApps/workshop/content/268500/620336497/Config. the XComClassData.ini file should be in there
Haveatya 8 Jun, 2016 @ 8:45pm
Anyidea where I can find the files to change? I downloaded it from Workshop but have no clue where to .ini itself is.
Alex Hallsey 20 May, 2016 @ 10:40pm
in this discussion they say how to fix the armor problem

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/discussions/-1/364041517008678058/?appid=268500

have a good one!
KingTiger78 15 May, 2016 @ 10:48pm
Anyone run into a problem with their infantrymen being unable to wear any armor? Happened to me when I upgraded to plated armor.
HugOwO 8 Mar, 2016 @ 11:26am
@Spotter. Thanks, I managed to find the skill names in the original game's ini files and did as you said. It works great. I also had fun giving my soldiers the face off skill using their primary weapon. a bit too op.
Viri 8 Mar, 2016 @ 3:54am
can u make mod that prevents automatic class assignment when rookie get squaddie rank. Also class assignment is only possible using GTS for rookie its 5 days for squaddie its 2 days for example.
Spotter 2 Mar, 2016 @ 4:04pm
The tree looks similar to the ROGUE class. Not sure how Shredder fits in with infantry, as lower tiers might consider that a shotgun/weapon attribute. :steammocking:
Spotter 2 Mar, 2016 @ 4:01pm
hugo_7501 that would depend on what skills you want replaced. I imagine it would be easiest to just cut-n-paste the ones you want to a new character type in text editor, then add it to your ini files when you're satisfied with the results/tree/progression :steamhappy:
HugOwO 1 Mar, 2016 @ 9:03pm
How would someone go around editing the files to replace one skill by another?
WrathTKL 1 Mar, 2016 @ 1:55am
See @Grixa I'm the opposite I hate the nexus I find it hard to navigate a pain to use the mod-manager I stick to using the workshop.
BCGaius  [author] 28 Feb, 2016 @ 6:45pm
I've had a couple of requests, so I'll add it to the to-do list.
Grixa 28 Feb, 2016 @ 3:49pm
A question: Do you plan to put this on the Nexus? I personally almost never use the Steam Workshop due to how much better and more convenient Nexus Mod Manager is, and porting Workshop mods over to NMM is a hassle.
mofenu 26 Feb, 2016 @ 1:47am
nice !
WrathTKL 25 Feb, 2016 @ 4:11am
Yeah I really love quick draw and machine gun using class I use another class that had that the author changed it so I edited his mod and put it back.

It's pretty simple from looking at the ini files to give him a class feature (Say quick draw) then in his available weapons you add the pistol.
IceMaverick 24 Feb, 2016 @ 11:58pm
Would rather see a useful Pistol-related skill as the class defining perk over just "Fire Pistol", especially since that works very poorly as a class-definer in this tree, seeing as so few other perks here synergize with it. Something like "Quick Draw" to give it a little more action economy, letting it pick off wounded units but still dish out damage with its rifle afterwards would probably sit with me better, or some other perk to define its role as an Infantryman better.
BCGaius  [author] 24 Feb, 2016 @ 11:55pm
I do like the half cover/full cover ability, and that could fit in the tree somewhere. Perhaps I'll add it as the GTS Captain-level unlock?

They're not for leading the charge, though; that's still a Ranger's job.

Anyway, I'm working (slowly) on the GTS update.
WrathTKL 24 Feb, 2016 @ 1:36pm
Giving them a pistol as a skill is lame ... give them the pisto that's awesome ... but the class skill shoiuld be something else.

If it's meant to be up front and lead the charge maybe give them the to treat half cover as full cover.
GnaReffotsirk 20 Feb, 2016 @ 1:20pm
I love it. It's a dedicated rifleman with an optional pistol. Most of XCOM 2 vanilla classes depend so much in their secondary weapons. I love this one, and the Infantry class.
BCGaius  [author] 20 Feb, 2016 @ 11:30am
It's the sort of thing that I'm sure varies with playstyle. I use it now and then even if I didn't pick up Fan Fire; sometimes I need to move, shoot, and reload all in the same turn, which of course isn't possible, so the pistol helps alleviate that. The class isn't supposed to be wow-amazing, it's supposed to be a reliable workhorse, which is exactly what the pistol helps provide.

Sorry you didn't like it; as mentioned in the description feel free to check out other classes!
Matopicus 20 Feb, 2016 @ 6:24am
Giving them a pistol as there opening skill is really worthless. I never used it. You should rethink that skill, it's because of this that i can't see this as a class i'll play with again. I mean there are a ton of class mods, unfortunately it seems the pistol was given only because it was "cool" and serves no benefit at all.
GnaReffotsirk 18 Feb, 2016 @ 6:45pm
My Specialist was also given a skill already in her tree. I suppose this problem is inherent in the AWC. There should be a check if the character already has the skill in its tree and roll another one.
BCGaius  [author] 13 Feb, 2016 @ 6:35am
@dd0029 That's an interesting issue, thanks for reporting that. It looks like I'm really going to have to dig into how the AWC works.
dd0029 13 Feb, 2016 @ 6:04am
Is there a way to stop the AWC from giving you skills already in the tree? Both of my infantrymen came up with skills they already had access to. The first got his at Corporal when it made the choice for Phantom. My second one, because I wanted Shredder, gave me a copy of Covering Fire.
Arkan 11 Feb, 2016 @ 6:15pm
Very Nice! Thank you so much! :pandastunned:
paulgsavill 11 Feb, 2016 @ 5:40am
No problem. I found it strange that it shows up correctly at the top, but is just a blank yellow box when it shows as the Squaddie's new skill.
BCGaius  [author] 11 Feb, 2016 @ 5:07am
@UselessFool On the todo list! I also want to add a list of random nicknames for Sergeants, since nicknames are generated on a class basis.

@paulgsavill I noticed that. I'll take a look at it, but it's a problem with the pistol skill itself - it just doesn't have a description. I might be able to 'fix' that, but I have a strong dislike of mod bloat, i.e., changing things in the game that have nothing to do with the mod's stated purpose (adding a single class).
paulgsavill 11 Feb, 2016 @ 4:47am
Thanks for the class. Just so you know, when first promoted to this class, the little icon showing the new skill of 'Fire Pistol' is just a blank box.

I know it's a small thing, but if it can be fixed, it makes your mod look more professional.
General Hawk 10 Feb, 2016 @ 10:40pm
Great addition. Nothing too crazy and a nice to my fireteams.
UselessFool 10 Feb, 2016 @ 10:20pm
Any chance that you'll update the mod to include an upgrade in the GTS for this class?
BCGaius  [author] 10 Feb, 2016 @ 6:09am
@CWheezy Just search for XCOM 2 Rogue Class and it should come right up

@Solam The class just uses standard assault rifles, as well as a sidearm for killing alien scum in emergencies

@ljsalty I'll consider it, but Steam Workshop is infinitely more convenient.
Saroodai 10 Feb, 2016 @ 1:52am
Which weapons class use ?1
ljsalty 9 Feb, 2016 @ 10:47pm
Can some one please upload these on the XCOM 2 http://www.nexusmods.com
CWheezy 9 Feb, 2016 @ 9:39pm
Can you link to the turotial series?
Swords 9 Feb, 2016 @ 7:44pm
Really like the look of this and feel that this is the class the game is missing. My last Long War campaign I had about 15-20 infantry. Gonna give it a whirl, thanks Gaius.
BCGaius  [author] 9 Feb, 2016 @ 2:10pm
Glad to hear it!
D20Outlaw 9 Feb, 2016 @ 1:52pm
ok, so i was able to change a file in another mod and get back into my svaed game, and everything is there, The Infantryman class is showing up in the GTS so we're all good! thanks for the quick response and thanks for the awesome mod!
BCGaius  [author] 9 Feb, 2016 @ 1:46pm
I'll run some more testing to see how it interacts with various save states and at the very least update the description appropriately.
D20Outlaw 9 Feb, 2016 @ 1:43pm
i am, but now im getting the missing file error so i cant load that save anymore =( but im pretty sure its not from your mod.
BCGaius  [author] 9 Feb, 2016 @ 1:41pm
It SHOULD be available both in Guerrilla Training and as random rookie promotion, even in a save game - at least, it was showing up in my own tests to verify that.

Thanks for the bug report though, because I do want to make sure it works properly for everyone - are you running any other mods?
D20Outlaw 9 Feb, 2016 @ 1:38pm
will the class be added into a save game? or do i need to start a new one. I ask cause its not showing up in the Guerrilla School... or will recuits randomly be assigned?
