Example: I had a grenadier Captain in a vanilla game with post-mission "assign promotion" status. I installed this mod. I built an AWC. When I opened his menu to promote him to Major, he got a Corporal AWC perk. This AWC perk would have been "lost" in the base game because I installed the AWC after he passed Corporal.
Works as intended with existing save games. Would recommend.
It did not work for me.
Any workaround or is the mod outdated?
after disabling this mod and load savegame new i was able to end mission.
So thank you -bg-
Well Thank you for this great mod aswell as the time you had to invest in making and maintane it :)
Thanks! Now I am worried that my random class skill bonuses will be gone by and replaced by something worse! :(
Yeah, the AWC is being replaced by a new facility, the Training Centre.

Huh? DLC will remove AWC?
So this might be a design decision to force the player to train a new squad after building AWC.
Having said that, I still use this mod.
it is not a cheat, it's just plugging a loophole that firaxis left in unattended in the AWC bonus-perk feature.
Thing is in vanilla, if you recruit a soldier at rank N and the AWC assigned a perk to him that should trigger at rank N-M, then your soldier would never get the perk (devs just forgot to implement that scenario). This mod fixes that problem.

Pretty sure that the changes LW 2 makes to the AWC mechanics render this mod unnecessary.
That makes for some potentially ridiculously OP early soldiers though, depending on your luck of course. Almost makes me wonder if it would be worth the trouble to recruit large numbers of soldiers with the "To Serve Mankind" continent bonus and get them a couple ranks to see what you get.
Either way, I guess I don't have to worry about the mod having made my early game any easier.
it's intended for the rank you can get an ability to not be tied to the rank its class normally would so that it's possible for the AWC to assign Colonel rank abilities as a Lieutenant tier unlock
Yes, this is how it works.
What I was saying was I built my AWC in the early-mid game when my soldiers were still mostly Lieutenant or lower rank but my specialist was immediately given the Colonel rank ability Rapid Fire. He WAS NOT a Colonel at the time he recieved this ability but I simply hadn't realized what happened in that moment because it's my first playthrough.
Now unless you're saying that it's intended for the rank you can get an ability to not be tied to the rank its class normally would so that it's possible for the AWC to assign Colonel rank abilities as a Lieutenant tier unlock then this strikes me as a problem.
