Boy, that is a real hard mission. Been trying to complete this over a full month and only was able to complete it with today. Amazing job and loved it. Only wished that we have zweinstein return on a colonial tropico and helped it become the world biggest superpower.

very fun mission loved every second of it.

@cipco2 Unfortunately not at this stage. I originally wanted to do some for Tropico 6, but they never released any scripting tools for us to make user generated content
cipco2 23 Jun, 2022 @ 12:08am
Any plans to create a new scenario?
mwyeoh  [author] 16 Apr, 2021 @ 1:22am
@Mad Navy Scout. As per the description in the scenario, I have disabled those buildings to lock the game into Cold War only
Mad Navy Scout 15 Apr, 2021 @ 7:56pm
I am unable to build the nuclear weapons to advance. Its Cold War Era only but I cannot build it
Max 12 Feb, 2021 @ 5:57am
@mwyeoh That is amazing! Ill check it out <3
mwyeoh  [author] 8 Jan, 2021 @ 8:44pm
@BistroBullet Thanks for the feedback. Its been a while now since I made this so theres a chance that a recent T5 update may have messed up the scenario a bit. As for the medallion cartel and rebels, you may be encountering another mafia faction. There are infact 3 operating on Tropico and discovery can take a while . As for teamsters, I dont remember doing anything like that. Teamsters are too important to nerf
Max 8 Jan, 2021 @ 12:07pm
Just read that. "To give you an incentive to modernise, I ll cut effectiveness of all teamsters by half for a year." You get that when industrialists dont like you.
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??????? All teamster, -50%, one year. YOU CANNOT disable transport. How are you supposed to react to that? Population starves as no food, industry cant produce, you literally bring the entire island to a halt. - mate. Seriously. That was a damn stupid choice.
Max 8 Jan, 2021 @ 11:23am
Your scenario is very heavily bugged (finished it twice)
1. From 91% approval rate and 90% crime safety, within one year, I get very high rebel threat and 60% approval rate. I did not build any hotels, I annihilated the Medaillon Cartel (0 Members left). Police stations are well equipped and fundedbut they cease to work. That is most definitely not intended and atm unplayable.
So, 5 years in the game. I have a really good industry. Every faction is happy, rebel threat none, 90% approval. One year later, my rebel threat is extreme, rebels attack every 3 minutes, they spawn in 4 groups of 6 squads each, attack from all sites, destroying at random. You can implement such a feature, but not 5 years in.I STRONGLY recommend you to give that an event (they come from outside). But an internal faction spawning 100 soldiers every 3 minutes on a 1000 pop ... No. Just no.
A very good scenario still, but needs some polish.

Thanks Omen

Just stopping by to say im enjoying this immensely! The little chunks of history worked into the notifications are really fun and give at least a general idea of where i am in history (more than just the scrolling date). Thanks so much for doing this!
mwyeoh  [author] 11 Jun, 2019 @ 7:46am
4000 subscribers. Thanks for all those that have played and reviewed my scenario
Unfortunately Tropico 6 currently lacks the tools to do anything as ambitious as this at the moment. I hope they add the tools one day!
Wiked 15 Sep, 2018 @ 5:54am
Fun scenario and its very challenging. Its a bit too lengthy imo as the population can easily exceed 2k before you complete this scenario which means that the game might start to lag on the later part of this scenario.

Pros
+ Story is interesting most of the time and the Tropico humor is present
+ Gang influence
+ Faction demands and consequences
+ Historical world events affect the price of resources

Cons
- Constant fires are annoying
- You can get invaded even if you have 100 relations with a superpower
- Game might start to lag with 2k+ population as it is a long scenario
mwyeoh  [author] 4 Sep, 2018 @ 9:50pm
Hi BistroBullet. Ive pretty much just used the default faction demands for the game. Some events trigger on certain faction happiness thresholds. You can find the factions screen in the almanac under "Politics". Its the second option under "Popular support" and above "Internal Threats"
Max 4 Sep, 2018 @ 5:32pm
I have some trouble finding faction demands. I look into the almanach and find no specific demands. Can someone post the location?
☩Dark_Warchief☩ 7 Aug, 2018 @ 1:13pm
I understand, thanks for replying though.
mwyeoh  [author] 4 Aug, 2018 @ 6:39pm
HI Dark Warchief. I really do wish that it was possible but unfortunately I couldnt find a way of doing so
☩Dark_Warchief☩ 4 Aug, 2018 @ 2:06pm
Very difficult scenario, I felt good when I did crack it. The constant fires are the worst but the maffia and tropico 4 styled faction disasters/gifts are a really nice touch. any chance this could be a mod to tick on/off for sandbox play?
annonymous tropico fan 3 Jul, 2018 @ 4:16am
Thanks, i am going to try to do that.
mwyeoh  [author] 3 Jul, 2018 @ 3:53am
Hi Christian.rogner, I wouldnt have a problem with someone copying my ideas here with the fires or other events I have included in the game. The code would need to be reentered for each individual map though
annonymous tropico fan 3 Jul, 2018 @ 1:34am
or maybe sombody other can do this if we are allowed to
annonymous tropico fan 3 Jul, 2018 @ 1:26am
am i allowed to try to make a sandboxc map out of this? I really like the fires spredding, and the prices going up and down when sertain events happen, and the idea with the drugsyndicat is genius.
sorry for my bad english,i'm austrian
mwyeoh  [author] 5 Jun, 2018 @ 9:11am
Thanks for your comments cipco2 and General Hux. Glad you liked it. Now that Tropico 6 is coming out later this year, I probably wont do another Tropico 5 scenario. Depending on whether or not the tools are there for Tropico 6, I may do another one there (I do have ideas for both a colonial era and world war era scanario). If you own Tropico 4, I have one there called "Unshackle: Like is never fair". Its a 'different' kind of scenario. You dont need the steam edition to download the scenario. Its is available under the in-game challenge browser under moden times challenges. Just type in "Unshackle" and you will find it
Cornelius Knox 1 Jun, 2018 @ 12:55pm
i have tropico 4 but not steam edition
Cornelius Knox 31 May, 2018 @ 12:36pm
i really hope someone make This Perfect Mod for WW2 with Axis And Allies Stories
cipco2 30 May, 2018 @ 5:44pm
Really fun so far. Your mass of events was almost the size of the main campaign and just as good.

mwyeoh  [author] 6 Oct, 2017 @ 4:50pm
@Fortis Fortuna Adjuvat: Theres no way to unlock modern times during the storyline part of the mission, however when you finish the mission it automatically unlocks modern times for you (I've allowed the mission to continue running as a sandbox on completion)
Fortis Fortuna Adjuvat 6 Oct, 2017 @ 10:35am
can I unlock modern time era in anyway?
I love that constitution TT
Zantis 3 Oct, 2017 @ 5:48am
Very good mission.
mwyeoh  [author] 7 Jul, 2017 @ 12:49am
Hi Shimar1110. Glad you liked it! Now that Tropico 6 has been announced, if its got a competent mission editor, I will definitely make more. On a side note, I also made a mission for Tropico 4 called "Unshackled- Life is never fair". If you own Tropico 4, you should give it a try
shimar1110 3 Jul, 2017 @ 6:33am
Kalypso should hire you to work for them! The plot twists! The excitement! The WTF-OMG moments! Please make more!
Skyroamers_boy 5 May, 2017 @ 5:08pm
Alright, thanks.
mwyeoh  [author] 5 May, 2017 @ 4:51pm
@Skyroamers_boy No, you do not need to have any of the DLCs. The game is completely playable with only the vanilla buildings
Skyroamers_boy 5 May, 2017 @ 12:25pm
Do you need any DLCs?
mwyeoh  [author] 3 Apr, 2017 @ 2:54am
Hi Hotspot. Glad you liked it. Sorry, I usually only add people I know IRL
HotSpot 2 Apr, 2017 @ 6:20am
Hey man, I tried adding you (somehow stumbled upon this scenario again and completely forgot I finished it once already).
mwyeoh  [author] 3 Sep, 2016 @ 5:24am
@Stallion- Thats because the scenario is based on events which took place in the cold war. If you keep playing, some Modern Times buildings will unlock
Stallion 3 Sep, 2016 @ 1:27am
Why did you lock it to Cold War Era? I miss the Modern buildings :*(.
dr_qaboa 4 May, 2016 @ 11:17am
Very nice map ! The scenario is not that original but still very cool. I especially enjoyed the gradually increasing difficulty (even if it leads to surprising situations such as the USA instantly invading by island during the 1962 crisis even though we had the best diplomatic relations possible).

Also I loved the historical/ufology references. Great work !
mwyeoh  [author] 1 May, 2016 @ 7:58pm
However, The World Is A Sandbox is incorrect about one thing. You CAN increase the length of a colonial era mission using the c_mandate modifier which will allow you to add any number of months to the colonial era (Spoiler: I am contemplating creating a colonial era mission) I discovered this while I was messing around with a bug I found in the mission editor which gave me access to further tools usually unavailable. See this thread for access http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=28504 . WARNING: IT COULD MESS UP YOUR GAME, SO BE CAREFUL

Also check out this thread for another bug I found if you have the waterbourne expansion. http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=28571
Unfortunately you cant actually use it for missions

I have also created a new discussions page under my mission if you would like to discuss modding further

mwyeoh  [author] 1 May, 2016 @ 7:57pm
Hi mehopkins

I don't mind if you want to post questions here

Unfortunately, world is a sandbox is right for the first point about ending era's. Its a bug in Tropico 5's mission editor. The editor has an option for "starting era' and 'ending era' however the 'ending era' option does not work (My mission starts in the cold war but if you give it enough time, the dialogue for going to the modern times still pops up- I disabled the space program and nuclear program though which is why its stuck in the cold war era)

Your current solution for the colonial era is a valid one. Another alternative (I have yet to explore) is perhaps detecting when the player declares independence and instantly launching an overwhelming scripted invasion which the player is guaranteed to lose (And give them a warning beforehand). Thereby making sure they don't want to declare independence

The World is a Sandbox 1 May, 2016 @ 6:33pm
That's the only fix you got: artificially either drop the personal approval rating of the player by artifically lowering faction approval, or you can also lower citizen approval generally, or by customized citizen sub-segment (thru snapshots). Either way, a player will feel rightfully cheated, so if you do this, you have to do it sneaky so it doesn't become obvious.
The Colonial Era is hardcoded, you can't change the time settings. You can't also prolong it, after x years, I think 8 or so, you'll get the lose dialog. Also note that Colonial is without explicit timeline: in all other eras you have the clock tick by month and year. In Colonial its a countdown from X, and you only have y time which is determined by the max number of randomized tasks available to the player in the vanilla script.
The World is a Sandbox 1 May, 2016 @ 6:33pm
That makes it very difficult to tell your own story, and that's why most people who created custom content have their missions start with the World Wars.
To get to World Wars or another period, there's an "Advance Era" command, and you can also query by era.
Suggestion: start your own HopkinsDevelopment thread as a general thread. We'll be happy to post there. Mwyeoh might not be happy that you hijacked his mission thread.
Granny Annie 1 May, 2016 @ 6:14pm
Me again - I've worked out a temporary fix - every time popular support gets over 40 I modify the revolutionaries faction standing by -10 in an autostart repeat forever sequence. However, I'd prefer not to do it that way if I can help it - hoping you have another way to prevent players advancing to world war era. Once again, thanking you in advance for any ideas you may have.
Granny Annie 1 May, 2016 @ 4:41pm
Hi mwyeoh! I have an editor problem - I'm trying to make a colonial era only mission, and have the maximum era in starting conditions set to colonial, but once my approval hits 51% up pops the declare independence task and I can declare independence! This is really ticking me off - I've looked around in the sequence editor to try to find a way to prevent the independence task popping up, but can't find anything. I noticed your mission is cold war only - could you tell me what I have to do to fix this? It's ruining my mission as I don't want players to be able to advance to world war era! Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Subodai 30 Apr, 2016 @ 11:44pm
This was awesome! Can't wait to do another run. Thanks for providing such great content I finished the campaign and didn't want to do any more sandboxing. This really hit the spot. I'd reccomend it to anybody :)
Hats 29 Apr, 2016 @ 1:51pm
Huh lately i've been trying to do exactly that! I can never get it to show up... 1 million Thanks for telling me !
