I have several packs installed but by far I use these the most.... Cougar, Gumpy, Trevor, Meltdown and Vicki are my favorites ^^ some of the longer lines get repetitive but I doubt that is easily remedied so I will take the constant reminder of what a buncha sods americans are =)

My god the nostalgia! This is probably whats going to define my playthrough of this game! Do these voice packs come with customized character models by chance? i noticed in the video that they seemed edited to match the original characters. I'm not familiar with mods, though am definately making an exception for this!

Hi again,
I changed my mind. It would be possible to turn the voice files into "stereo" or dual-channel files, but really, it's not worth it. I think your voice packs are *AWESOME" as is. It's not such a biggie to have the voice come only from the center speaker. Besides, changing the files to dual-channel would double the size of these already large files.
You've done a hell of a good job on this and I pat you on the back! :-)
I love how the characters say the correct lines in the correct situations. Really awesome!
Thanks a lot again! :-)

@Tyler Durden
Unfortunately, the 1999 game uses mono for it's sound, and voicepacks cannot use stereo or 5.1 for some reason (I think this was disproven later, I don't remember).

To grab the workshop files, go to <steam install location>\steamapps\workshop\content\268500 and search for "Jagged Alliance" or "JA2" without quotes.

Also, thinking of which, perhaps there is even room for further improvement: Maybe the voice recordings could be updated. Maybe I could help you with that? The thing is, many are in mono. If you have a 5.1 surround speaker setup, mono voice will come from the little center speaker instead of from the larger two stereo front speakers (left and right). That makes mono files more quite and less good sounding than stereo files. If the wave files were altered and the mono tracks dupplicated to leaft and right and saved again, this would double their size, but it would sound much better because the voices would then come from the two large front speakers, just like the in game voices. Easy to do, but just a lot of work. I volunteer.

Let me know if I can help, I'd be glad to. I also don't know how Steam really works yet and if there is a way to contact you directly (email?) instead of through here.
Anyway great stuff! Love it!! :-))

Hi there!
Boy I really *love* this mod. Fing awesome! I almost fell off my chair hearing Gontarski saying is line "just ask Gontarski..." (or something like that! :-)

JA2 is one of the all-time best computer games there is in my opinion. Great work!

Q:
s there some way how I could get these MODs of yours as downloadable zip files for storage? I just think they're so great, I would really like a backup copy burnt to CD in case Steam ever does something stupid. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm quite new to Steam and just started playing XCOM 2 and these are among the first MODs I ever used or installed.

These voices are perfect! It's almost as though they were made for a turn-based tactical squad game :3

Thank you so much for doing this. I was thinking about doing this myself, but never had time to get started. Now I just need a german version of this. :D

I've been looking for these for sooooooooo long!

Don't like using the workshop, I'm more of a Nexus kinda guy, but I'll make an exception for this :D
Forever Endeavor 17 May, 2016 @ 2:12pm
I might just use this for Magic alone. Dat voice.

Yes it is, you can find it on the workshop here as well. It's by Ninja Nub.
Baka Racker 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:22pm
Wait think I just found it on the Nexus, is it the BDU Customization Pack?
Baka Racker 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:18pm
Just a quick qustion, what armor/clothes mod are you using to get that WWII/Korea fatigues look?
BaconMonster 20 Mar, 2016 @ 3:23am
Thanks for these! I really like to have soldiers with personality and these mods are perfect for it.
