Hello everyone, I wanted to give you an update as to what is presently transpiring. I'm developing a sci-fi video game, with a bunch of SE modders, and we just had this little opportunity pop up: https://www.facebook.com/Shaostoul/posts/10218897253681722

If SE sponsors the development of this game (currently dubbed Project Universe), we could see a ton of updates to my SE mods, as I'll be able to safely work on modding a ton, while simultaneously working to develop my own game.

Unfortunately the original author of the mod is no longer around and I no longer have the source files. I'm not going to try to recreate someone elses mod.

This mod definately needs a middle ground or two between the Leviathan and Sabre engines....

The devs really need to make it easier to place giant objects.

No Creative only, or creative mode tools. But there is a way to do it even if you don't have access to creative tools (like in someone else's multiplayer server), Make a blueprint of the engine (in a private creative game or w/e). And then go back to the survival game and project the blueprint exactly where you want it. And weld it up .

Easiest way to be able to place the Leviathan is to use scrollwheel whilst holding Ctrl. It will move the placement farther away from you. Much easier than anything else. Maybe edit this into description? would def help a lot of players unfamiliar with this bind.

That sounds plausible. It may work as long as you don't move at all during the switching process.

Got this from another page (I haven't yet tried this): To place larger blocks, press Alt+f10 and check: Enable creative mode tools. Then line up the block where you want to place it. Press Alt+F10 again and uncheck Enable creative mode tools, and without moving place the block.

I don't believe there's anything I can do. The devs shortened the range for block placement forever ago and it made placing large blocks in survival damn near impossible.

The massive thruster is impossible to place because the block placement isn't far enough.
Help.
I wanted to try doing some cool stuff with that but I can't put the thruster on anything.

No? The devs have been changing the way the damage area of thrusters work, so it must not be working correctly any more. Still don't have a PC, so I can't fix it.

Are the leviathan thrusters supposed to melt everything within a 20ish block radius of a very specific part of the cone?

Grievous new everyone; my PC experienced a sudden BSOD tonight and in its wake, my HDD is dead and my PC is not booting reliably (mobo issues maybe, it is very old; 2008). This HDD was my storage device that had all of PeterHammerman's, Embershards, other modders/commissions/etc, and my Space Engineers and Fallout 4 mods. This means that I've lost all of the source files for all of the released and WIP content. I'll be seeing if a company thinks it can be recovered this week but, things look grim after all of the testing I was able to do.

This more or less means that all modding is stopped for an indeterminable amount of time presently. Over the coming days/weeks I'll be debating on how I'll proceed. I do love modding, the interaction with all the users, helping others get a handle on modding, and so forth. I'll try to keep you guys updated.

It was supposed to be way back in the day but, SE still doesn't really easily allow doing stuff like that. Maybe in the future, assuming I still have the sources files tucked away some where.

C4PTRAMPAGE - Get the 'advanced welding' mod, it comes with a 'merge pad' which disappears on use, but acts as a merge block. Break the ship in half, put merge pads on either side, bump em together

well it looks like a few of those leviathan thrusters could move my 1:1 replica of the pillar of autumn, the problem is every time i try to convert it to a ship the game will crash (the ship is over 1km in length) if anyone has any ideas for how to convert it to a ship successfully i'd be happy to hear it...

Sorry to hear about your issues Delphirus. It's not too difficult for me to do both due to the length of time that it takes for everything to happen. I just have to take breaks more often and other such things.

Hey Shao, sorry to hear about all your troubles this year. I've had a pretty rough year (well, going on two years, now) myself, dealing with homelessness and my own physical and mental health issues. Glad to see you're still hanging in there and fighting back, though. You're a real inspiration :) Keep up the good work, and don't worry about SE or the mods. You've gotta take care of you first, and I'm pretty sure everyone would agree with that. Wishing you well, and looking forward to more of your excellent work :)

P.S. - sorry for disappearing a while back. Didn't have a whole lot of choice due to the previously stated issues.

I can't seem to place the Leviathan Thruster, it appears to be clipping the character model at all times.

My PC is working for the moment, but it's 8 years old. I have an old used GTX760 and an old used i7 975 that I had to buy off ebay since my i7 920 died. I'm looking at building a new PC, so I can stop replacing old parts with other old parts. I've been trying to save up, but donations are really slow the last few months. I've made nothing this month so far and I've only made $40 ish last month excluding the only commission I had.

No problem. You should only really notice a speed boost to the various thrusters, most of them were roughly 50% the power they should be, but they're all balanced to vanilla now. Even the monster of the leviathan.

Took no more than five minutes to load the world with the master pack among other mods (around 15 or 20). You can say that it's safe to load then.
I'll be testing the blocks, but they all worked fine for me in earlier versions, I really don't expect them to be broken.

Thnxs, I'll try to test the master pack today... But I had to de suscribe and re suscribe to the mods I was using (at least re suscribe to most of them) because the infinite load time issue.
I'll update this post later to let you know how was the run.

I have no idea what I personally would use the leviathan for. Some people do make stuff large enough for it though.

Just keep playing with it. Don't be afraid to scrap things and start over. You can hold onto mesh you do like and use it as reference or a starting point. Some times I find starting over and working different is easier.

Inset faces will work for that. It'll be a little awkward to work with due to it being mirrored, but it shouldn't be too bad. I'd probably do it by hand though.

Inset faces to get it about where you'd want the vertices to be, then go ahead and pull it up or play with lines and what not so you can get the extra bit sticking out.
