Very late game pods of two ALSO turns common because you wind up with numbers of enemies not multiples of three. So sometimes you get pods of four, sometimes pods of two.
Any interest in EW meshes when I've got the files composited to the new skeletons? I mean before adding the polys and higher textures that brings it to modder's resource quality. Your designs are somewhat hit or miss for right now, so I get maybe 50% of the creatures. But I know you can retexture well if I get you the skeletons at least. Updated skeletons is fine too but could take a while if I'm the source. Mind that EW MEC M1-3 use a prop for a head (a Trooper).
