Could i get my character done?

I don't use Blender, I use 3DS Max for everything.
But when I do need to send something to use in Blender, I do FBX.
I have a few friends who use 3DS Max to get the model, but then use it in Blender and they apply the textures in Blender.

I have a few questions which is about converting and material. After converting the YDD files to DFF, And adding every file that you need on 3DS MAX, Which format do you export the model to use it on Blender? And about the material, do you add the material before the export or on Blender after importing it?.
