@tannerreed97 it already is updated for wotc but as part of a class pack. I dont do single classes anymore as its a lot easier to manage a group (though you can disable ones you dont want). Check my workshop for a version you prefer.
TannerA 5 Mar, 2018 @ 7:59pm
can you make it with wotc
Richard  [author] 13 Jul, 2017 @ 4:37pm
Okay thanks, I'll leave them up then, I will change the names though so people know they are old.
pintocat 13 Jul, 2017 @ 7:05am
I think it's best to leave it up if you can -- it's going to mess up people's saves if they're using and not every user is going to check this thread.

Probably best would be to edit the mod name to put like [Obsolete] or [Deprecated] or something.
Richard  [author] 13 Jul, 2017 @ 6:17am
Is anyone still using this? I am considering deleting it when War of the Chosen comes out. I will make a new version if there is enough request but it will be a class pack (its easier for me to maange and you can just unselect which ones you don't want)
Terradive 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:33pm
I love the idea of this class. It just needs deployable turrets and mine laying capability. Make one side hacking and the other gadget weapons.
Richard  [author] 3 Nov, 2016 @ 12:02pm
Yeah theres a few issues with the rules of stealth. I'm not 100% sure on it, I removed it in my LW version.
pintocat 3 Nov, 2016 @ 11:16am
Small bug with the ghost protocol -- if the technician is stealthed, he can't use it, even if a target isn't
orion winterfire 2 Oct, 2016 @ 11:22am
I really like this class. The main one in my current game is pretty useless for direct combat (probably owing in part to toolbox nce/hp) but it sure is a great useful unit that helps control the battlefield and uses timely buffs.
I picked shadow over haywire though and regretted it. While awesome in the right situation, it doesn't seem to stack up against haywire in the long run.
Not even thru one campaign with it yet though, just first impression.
Conefed 3 Sep, 2016 @ 3:23pm
The class is solid and was relevant every mission without ever feeling overpowered. Each rank had interesting decisions. I like the charges vs timers.
Great job!
napocapo69 13 Aug, 2016 @ 11:04am
any chance of having a LW version?
dmc32 13 Aug, 2016 @ 1:44am
Nice class, actually used this guy with a specialist. Good perks aim assist, distortion field are great good job.
Cornelian 4 Aug, 2016 @ 7:15am
Your rifleman and lucubration infantry are both soldiers with rifle and pistol, right, but they are very different on the battlefield. And I use the trooper too... For now, i have resolved the conflict by using Lightning reflexes at this rank on your rifleman, as he has already sprint one rank before to boost his mobility, and run and gun... And i must say i like it like this : your rifleman his a really mobile soldier compared to the others. But i have yet to see a colonel one.
Richard  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 6:44am
Do you need both the Rifleman and Infantry? I will have a look at that later.
A lot of my classes need balancing with one another; I haven't played in a while though. I was intending to put them all together at some point using the LW 3 perk system and extra rank when I have some free time. (This would be a seperate mod)
Well with Aim Assist and Kill Cam being able to be applied to other soldiers via the Gremlin the cooldown could be upped with a nerf for aim assist too.
Cornelian 4 Aug, 2016 @ 4:12am
Nice!

By the way, i am using another couple of your classes at the moment too, and the Riflman class has a conflict with the infantry from Divinelucubration. Again, it is a skill template name : StickAndMove is shared by both.

I agree with broccoli, burning protocol feel a little weak compared of the other abilities. Perhaps it could do some damages on start, or perhaps you could remove the charges for a cooldown.

And, i feel at contrary that Aim Assist is too powerfull. I think i would like a longer cooldown here.
Richard  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 3:04am
The Conflict with Distortion Field is fixed, thank you for identifying the conflict.
I have added the French localization thank you.
I may be changing some abilities in the future; When I have time I need to have a look at the changes broccoli suggested a little further down the comments.
Cornelian 3 Aug, 2016 @ 4:05pm
Thank you Richard. Here the french localization for this class : {LINK REMOVED}
Richard  [author] 3 Aug, 2016 @ 3:49pm
Yes I will change the source name.
Cornelian 3 Aug, 2016 @ 3:02pm
Hello! Thanks for this class!

But, there is a conflict between your class mod and the ADVENT Priest by Farkyrie because they both share the same skill name for DistortionField. Is it possible to change the name of the template for this skill on your mod to resolve this?
Richard  [author] 31 Jul, 2016 @ 2:30pm
It's alright.
James 31 Jul, 2016 @ 12:52pm
Hi Richard, I've made my own custom class overhaul but I've borrowed quite a few of your abilities to make it. I'd like to release it with credit given but only if your happy with that?
broccoli 19 Jul, 2016 @ 5:44pm
Oh, and it would also be awesome if burning protocol did some damage up front. I realize that burning imparts various penalties, but it still seems a tad weak compared to some of the other abilities.
Richard  [author] 19 Jul, 2016 @ 5:26am
Yes that might make it more useful. I'll add it to an update when i get the time.
broccoli 18 Jul, 2016 @ 11:08pm
I love this class! So much utility, very cool. My only thought is that it would be awesome if you could target anyone with aim assist or death cam.
Ghost 17 Jul, 2016 @ 8:59pm
I love the Distorter tree, wow, so much utility, taking everything down with these powerful tactical buffs. GREAT.
Thedeejnylv76 19 Jun, 2016 @ 10:37am
I know that's a lot of work, so I love this class and am still going to use it even if that one skill isn't fixed. If you do fix it, I would suggest dropping it to 1 charge per mission as Concealment is extremely powerful.

Again, great work on this class, it really fit a role in was looking for in my squads as I had the Sharpshooter for the sniper role, the Infantry for front line, mid range combat. The Rangers for close combat assault tactics. The Gunner/ Grenadier split mod allowed me to use the Grenadier like the LW Engineer and the Gunner as a Supression / anti-mech specialist. The Scout for well, scouting, along with hit n run tactics and the Specialist as a Medic. That left me in need of a hacker/ guaranteed damage or status effect unit. Your Technician fit perfectly. Thanks for helping to make my game complete.
Richard  [author] 18 Jun, 2016 @ 3:06am
There is a problem with the Gremlin attaching to other units. Another problem is that you cant ghost an ally if you yourself (the technician) are detected or within sight range. It needs cleaning up.
Thedeejnylv76 16 Jun, 2016 @ 10:49pm
Really enjoying this class. The only problem is Ghost protocol is worthless. The gremlin says with the ghosted unit and is not itself cloaked. Therefore it reveals everytime an enemy can see the gremlin. Any way you could fix this?
Thedeejnylv76 3 Jun, 2016 @ 12:22am
This is an interesting class! Thought I was done adding custom classes ( I already use Escalation Scout the Gunner / Grenadier split and DL'S Infantry ) but I like this a lot. It enables you to use the Vanilla specialist as a pure healer.
General Hawk 21 May, 2016 @ 9:16am
great class!
Richard  [author] 17 May, 2016 @ 12:59am
It's alright. I split the Grenadier into Engineer and Gunner if you're interested in that just see my mod collection. Thanks for subbing.
DrGrouch 17 May, 2016 @ 12:58am
Yup, already on it, thanks! now I can have a dedicated Gremlin user, and a dedicated medic with the Field Medic class, game feels better this way, thanks for this mod :D
Richard  [author] 17 May, 2016 @ 12:55am
You can swap it out in the XComClassData for this mod if you wanna replace anything :) I noticed some of the visualizations dont work but seems fine otherwise. I recommend the Field Medic if you want a healer based class as a compliment.
DrGrouch 16 May, 2016 @ 11:36pm
It would be awesome if this had Threat Asessment though, only thing I miss about the specialist
DrGrouch 16 May, 2016 @ 11:33pm
Thanks for this!
asdf0716 16 May, 2016 @ 5:56pm
Thanks for this class btw. I hated vanilla specialists.
Ghost 15 May, 2016 @ 8:38pm
Technician Class es Tres Super ! ! Thank you Richard, Hero of Mods . Distorter !! :steamhappy:
Richard  [author] 12 May, 2016 @ 2:37pm
Updated.
The BlackVision 11 May, 2016 @ 7:59pm
True, but depends on duration. If it's just one turn, that's probably on par with some of the end-tier skills already available. It's not enough defence to make hitting them impossible if they're out in the open, which definately would be OP, but it gives everyone a chance to recoup and use potentially weak cover to either escape sticky situations or else deal a lethal blow to alien forces. Or heck, just to make damn sure your full cover will still cause them to miss :P
Richard  [author] 11 May, 2016 @ 1:33pm
Thanks a lot! Distortion Field might be a little bit OP but... gonna wait until the next DLC comes out to see how difficult the new ruler aliens are before I start to balance it.
The BlackVision 11 May, 2016 @ 9:40am
Looks pretty neat as a class - been looking for a proper buff/debuffer - everything else I've een either makes your own units into unkillable super-soldiers or is so weak you always take something else, but this looks like a great toolkit to have available in any mission without being too OP.
