My set up
One way out to external line --Track 2-- One way out to external line
One way in to station from external line --Track 1-- One way in to station from internal line
@Mr_Ablaze - Upload it to the workshop? Please!
Here is a configuration that works for me -- https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2289985525
I 3 of these in an almost triangle shape servicing different areas. Currently they are setup with two-way tracks merging into the main line that services both internal and external. I'd like to separate my lines and build an internal only line servicing these 3 stations while also allowing them to service external imports/exports. Do I use the inside (closer to the road) track for the internal or external lines? And do I need to use one way tracks in order to make this work. I understand the 2nd track only can send loads, never receive.

You create two loops with tracks in the opposite direction and connect each track at the station only to allow trains in one direction. In this case the Vanilla station will accept and spawn trains going both directions.
Later stations have a problem. E.g. (OT) the Airport passenger station does not allow a similar functionality for passengers - or the Airport Cargo station. I would love to know why it is like this.
There has been a lot of discussion of that ... along with how to use it to your advantage.
So I read about this asset. In 3 minutes it was doing everything the dlc station was supposed to do. No conflicts with my large list of mods. Great work by @BloodyPenguin and a shameful display by Colossal Order.
I love this station even today
Hope this helps
Does "Fixed: Fixed cargo connections to the outer track" mean ...
"... the outer pair of tracks can receive trains, just like the inner pair. Only one line of each pair can spawn, though, so trains can wait even though a track is open."
or
"... fixed another portion of the outer track as to spawning trains, but the outer pair still cannot receive or despawn trains."
Now that both pair receive and spawn, I am curious if I broke something.
It gets nasty to watch spawn blocking, when the terminal spawns 10 trains in a row on track 4, while a train is waiting to enter from the right, and it refuses to cross over to track 3 (like passenger trains sometime do). Will need to retihink connection directions to manage spawn blocks.
Exactly.
It's a great asset, and it's even better once one understands how to use it to achieve those two goals.
Thank you BloodyPenguin, and thank you Ilion for helping us see how to better benefit from them.
Service 1) receiving goods via inter-city train and sending them along internal intra-city network without using trucks for the transfer.
Service 2) "protecting " your city's Cargo Harbour Hub and Cargo Airport Hub from invasion by inter-city cargo trains. Live unto Gov. Huey P. Long at Baton Rouge, they must first pass through a transit hub.
Service 3) now that Ilion https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/Ilion7 has pointed out the benefits of using one-way tracks to demark the spawn-only track, stations can also spawn trains to go to other cities. Genius!!! I have missed this benefit, and I actually added a third transit station to go the other way.
I recall an old comment to the effect (and I did once experience the situation) that once in a while, the *location* of the depot can cause it to not work properly. So, it might be that placing the depot elsewhere will get it working for you. Think of it as unintended 'feng shui'.
As far as I know, the best solution to cargo stations' terrible through-put of trucks is stations which don't require the trucks to *turn*. The ones I know about are:
"Intermodal Double Cargo Station" ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2274171212 )
""Express Cargo Station 2.0 ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2072533988 )
One can also slightly increase through-put of a regular station by redrawing the access road to connect directly to the spawn-point at the perpendicular.
Another option is to use the "cheat" functions of my "Despawn Manager" mod ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2306554537 ) to force trucks to despawn upon deliver of their cargoes.
