Please make the spawn rate lower, and allow the blocks to automatically disappear after a certain amount of time.

Even with (what I believe is) a 0.04% chance to spawn, worlds tend to start getting overrun with these blocks and, since they don't despawn unless broken by the player, they will slowly start to build up everywhere...

I really enjoy this, but there are a few reasons I'm not keeping this in my game.

1. You can't hit the blocks with your weapon(s) to open them, and maybe it's just my time playing Super Mario Crossover, but I feel like they should be able to be busted open. :)
2. Each pixel that comes out is 25 pixels worth, so if you get a block that has multiples, you've just made a whole lot. In Mario, they were worth 1 coin. While I don't think your mod should give 1, I do think that 5 or 10 a piece would be more reasonable/balanced.
3. They can spawn where you can't access them easily-- dirt may be surrounding the blocks which you have to dig around first to get what's inside. I feel like that takes away from the instant gratification feel of Mario's ? blocks.

the block seems to respawn so sometimes they appear in already generated terain or in my homes, don't know why that happened
Fuyuno 18 Nov, 2020 @ 5:20pm
(also, mandrew, do the blocks reset or are they suddenly just platform blocks after it's depleted?)
Fuyuno 18 Nov, 2020 @ 5:16pm
> I've added the blocks to fu planets, biomes, changed the loot to the legendary loot from fu lootbox and i'm testing to see if it's working. I may upload it to the workshop in the future.
- is that a patch, or a separate mod? does it require this AND FU? when are you uploading it?
Lukiwarble 6 Sep, 2020 @ 7:16pm
I've added the blocks to fu planets, biomes, changed the loot to the legendary loot from fu lootbox and i'm testing to see if it's working. I may upload it to the workshop in the future.

It's cool on the beggining, but if you keep revisiting the same world several times, it will be swarmed by those blocks.
DudeTheNinja 9 Jan, 2019 @ 6:11am
This seems like a cool mod! However, I'd like to see the appearance changed so it fits the Starbound artstyle, aka changing the palette so it fits Starbound's one.
warmainiac 15 Sep, 2018 @ 5:49pm
i think that if you clear away some stuff, more mario blocks spawn in their place, idk why it happens though, but it does need some area above the ground to spawn
Super Brasilis 17 Mar, 2018 @ 7:50pm
you should have to put spawn rate as 25%, or less, because that spawn so many and make a bit cheaty
ShiveerFidget 31 Aug, 2017 @ 6:29am
Could get the block breaking to put in the place you wants, instead of giving nothing breaking it and spawn in a place that can not even hit him
The Trippy Pyro (MPH! MPH! MPH!) 16 Aug, 2017 @ 3:23pm
hopefully we get more mario items! would love to see this expanded into a full mario mod!
Soblow 21 Jul, 2017 @ 2:20am
I added it the day StarBound became stable, and until now, it's still working...
Beautiful work !
MikeTheDigiGoia 1 Jun, 2017 @ 2:08am
will there be a easy to use template? i'm currently making a crossover mod and this is the kinda thing i need for some objects
Zauberin Stardreamer 17 Apr, 2017 @ 5:14pm
I encountered the same issue as @SirMadness, and uninstalled the mod for the same reason.
bloopah 11 Apr, 2017 @ 1:07pm
are those craft / spawnabe
SirMadnessTV 2 Mar, 2017 @ 1:28am
Found 2 blocks in a fresh start game.. The day after, they were available again and few more blocks spawned near them.. and the day after.. and so on.. Good work but this make me left this mod for the while :) Good luck fixing the issue. (Played with FU and others mods..)
Roaring Knight 29 Dec, 2016 @ 8:43am
could you make like a portable hair dressing station to change your hair and stuff?
NitchButs 13 Dec, 2016 @ 6:46pm
I love the concept, but its a bit over powweered, and it didnt end up mathcing my style of gameplay in the end, id still play with it if i hadnt started out my character the way i did.
that being said, is there a world-safe way to uninstall this mod?
Spess Carp 29 Nov, 2016 @ 9:31am
Awesome mod! I go out of my way to bang my head against every single one I find.
Altered Nova 27 Oct, 2016 @ 8:08pm
I really like this mod. The blocks are fun to hit and the nostalgia made me smile. Unfortunately I think the blocks are way too common, I hit like twenty of them within 10 minutes on my first planet, earning 3 weapons and roughly 2000 pixels for little effort. Although that might just be because the glow makes them very easy to find and because they kept "reloading".
supermandrew  [author] 21 Sep, 2016 @ 12:06pm
Nothing about the player.config file should be touched in this mod, so nothing should have been broken by the updates.
The Daily Herp 21 Sep, 2016 @ 3:11am
Supermandrew, is your mod still using the player.config.patch format? if so, it can break world generation for dungeons. At least i think so. It might just be that you didn't update it to work with the latest starbound update, but I still like the mod, I hope you will fix it. :steamhappy:
supermandrew  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 10:43am
@なかの22 : there is a chance of a weapon on hit, it's demonstrated in the sample video. However, currently no chance of armor.
なかの31 19 Sep, 2016 @ 12:34pm
It could have a chance of giving weapon or armor when hit.
But this is just fine.
deimoah 17 Sep, 2016 @ 3:56am
Hey, +SuperMandrew, if you could read my suggestions in your discussions and leave your opinion on it, that'd be great.
Assistance Importer 15 Sep, 2016 @ 7:13pm
Could you make these build-able? They don't have things inside, just as decorations?
supermandrew  [author] 14 Sep, 2016 @ 8:06am
I'll be honest - I had never heard of the Lucky Blocks until someone in this comment section mentioned it, haha. Glad you all enjoy the mod though! :)
The Daily Herp 13 Sep, 2016 @ 2:47pm
As mattdoesgames64, said, Finally someone who isn't calling them lucky blocks based off of a retarded minecraft mod based off of Mario!
peewee 10 Sep, 2016 @ 11:05am
Yay! someone else who doesnt call them lucky blocks!
supermandrew  [author] 25 Aug, 2016 @ 9:44am
An update will be coming all! The update will prevent blocks from "reloading" once they've already been hit, and may include a few extra power ups that you can get from the blocks :)
Fyreblazes 18 Aug, 2016 @ 8:10pm
oh! also what's with your outfit in the GIF
Fyreblazes 18 Aug, 2016 @ 8:09pm
I like the mod but every time I go away from a certain area new ones pop in
etherealprime 13 Aug, 2016 @ 12:19am
I love this Idea! For all you happy subscribers, Remember if you like it, show your support by rating it!
Rathlon Tobias Riverwind 12 Aug, 2016 @ 6:54pm
So someone madea a Lucky Blocks mod for this game, well time to get it and rage at some of them.
And probably die allot.
Tourten 9 Aug, 2016 @ 4:40am
@SuperMandrew I say make a nother one but make it like the lucky block mod from minecraft so stuff can get crazy :happyBUD:
supermandrew  [author] 5 Aug, 2016 @ 6:35pm
Yea, I plan on introducing a timer so that once they've been hit they'll destroy themselves in like.. 15 seconds. I think that should work.
o'night 5 Aug, 2016 @ 2:41pm
Blocks don't save their status. I mean they respawn as fresh (not broken) everytime I beam down on planet. Is there anything to do with it?
supermandrew  [author] 5 Aug, 2016 @ 1:45pm
@O'Nightmare!: thanks for sharing! I agree, it does look nice with the lighting overhaul!

@Solzucht: Yea, I've thought about that, but for me and the group I play with, we enjoy seeing them randomly spawn just as if they were random chests or those capsules on the ground. I'm glad you enjoyed it some though, and thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind :)
Solzucht 3 Aug, 2016 @ 6:33am
okay so i tested it a bit :)
and its a nice mod,...but...
to have them randomly appear on kinda any planet destroys a bit the lore(to me) of SB.
i would use it as part of a missiondungeon?
but as it is now, i will not keep using it,
but i will upvote and favourize it :)

@O'Nightmare!: I'd love to see a screenshot! If you don't mind putting one on imgur and linking it here, it sounds really neat :)
o'night 2 Aug, 2016 @ 11:56am
This mod rocks! Simple but super effective. I'm using it in combo with Tanz Lightning Overhaul and Avali race. I must say their synergy is really good.
Madwoman's Insight 31 Jul, 2016 @ 6:33pm
nice touch.
Kinasin 30 Jul, 2016 @ 8:44pm
fucking awesome
supermandrew  [author] 30 Jul, 2016 @ 9:10am
@Sarmus: That's no good! Let's see if we can get that fixed.

Whenever any mod causes a crash, there are two questions/answers that help the developers solve the problem faster:

1. Do you currently have any other mods installed?
2. What does your starbound.log have in it? (after a crash, open up starbound.log and copy/paste it into pastebin or a similar website, and then post the link here for the dev to see)

On a side note, I think I found the bug! It wasn't causing the game to crash for me, but either way I've fixed what should be the problem. Pushing the update now :)

Thanks for your help!
Sarmus 30 Jul, 2016 @ 6:28am
when I won the "mushroom" my game crashes and turns off. :steamsad:
