I am not in any form familiar with this issue, so I can't exactly help you fix that.
However I CAN suggest a workaround. You don't necessarily need to give Workshop priority over TF, the files just need priority.

Which Usermod has innate priority in the directory.
What you can do is take the downloaded files and place them in the same location within Usermod. File paths HAVE to be exact with the exception of Usermod in place of "Workshop" or "TF".
Alternatively I have a Google Drive link for all the textures already set up to just drop in Usermod.

This worked for me once upon a time. Then I had a fresh install, now whenever I move the workshop file above tf- there is 'NODRAW' all over the walls. Sucks to suck ig, any help would be appreciated.

If you need to reacquire original files (Or just update SFM with newer TF2 models), you CAN extract files from TF2 via GCFScape. Doing this will add and replace all the respective files in the TF directory with all that are currently in game.
Though my addons specifically only reach up to Summer 2021 for paint fixes.

before finding (and installing) this plug-in I attempted to take this issue into my own hands and after a few youtube videos and installing of programs my SFM VTF textures of the outback intellectual item are different than the default and that's probably why it isnt working for me. I searched near and far and I couldnt find a way to get the default textures back. THANK YOU for your help and for the paint add-on (and also being patient with me)

I'm not sure what exactly "it" is. But assuming you've installed this properly, the cosmetics that appear painted black upon spawning should now appear with their default colors from game.

If they still show up painted black, then the addon was not installed properly. Which to do so you must when launching SFM you are first prompted to either launch Source Filmmaker or an SDK.
Select the SDK option, a small window will appear. Select the bottom most option to edit select filepaths. A checklist should appear. In a very literal sense, click and drag Workshop above TF and then click okay. Once done, simply just open SFM and it should work.

Otherwise the only other thing I can think of is possibly how you go about recoloring the cosmetics. Personally I use this paint script addon. It has its own instructions on how to use.

when I recolor it to a darker color it has gray lines around it.. how to fix? im brand new to SFM so pls explain like im a noob :steamsad:

While I would, this cosmetic is not one with a broken texture? Nor does this addon give you the models for the listed cosmetics. Simply a texture override addon.

Right click on the name of the model, and there should be an option marked "Unlock Transforms" or something of that sort.

When selecting the model, click the (+) next to the name of the model, make sure "color" is not selected. Otherwise when you "zero" it on, you set the RGB values all to zero which is black.

Or you can zero it onto him first, unlock, color, and then re-lock it onto him.
This applies to all cosmetics you attempt to paint unrelated to this addon.

for some reason anger does not work for me:i paint it,put it on sniper via zeroing it onto him and bam:the angers is black. any help ?

That I actually included in my multiclass texturefix pack. I just happened to do it here before I saw it was updated for both. Though do keep in mind that you will need to extract files from TF2 (AKA manually updating SFM's TF2) to obtain the models for which that texture applies to unless someone else has uploaded the updated variants of the model. Also note that you will only be able to find it via file name.

I do apologize for this error you've come upon, however this addon is merely a texture override.
The bandanna facemask that is part of The Anger disappearing I do not know how to fix, although if another addon affects the hat, it may be worth checking there.

Then I am unsure of why the textures are failing to work since it's a VTF override.
I do have the files downloadable here for all classes I've done on these two links.
Just place them in their respective locations and remove the "(1)" from the items in the second link.

If this problem shows on all cosmetics shown im this addon, then you may need to instead of launching SFM, select SDK. From there you'd need to select Edit Search Paths, the bottom most option. A checklist will appear. All you have to do is click and drag Workshop above TF.

Unfortunately just subbing to this addon will not make it work.
Due to it being a texture override, you must give Workshop priority over TF in the SDK Search Path.

So next time you launch SFM, instead of Source Filmmaker, choose the second option, SDK and select Edit Search Paths on the bottom of the little menu that comes up.
Next will be a checklist. Click and drag Workshop above TF and hit Ok.
Once that's done, you should be free to do whatever on SFM with the working addon.

I have that rig. Also if I find a way to keep the self illumination paintable, I'll be sure to use it on all the cosmetics with that problem and post 'em.

Ah, well nevermind. I just ripped the model and materials from TF2, works fine with that paint script (I forget the creator's name, just look up paint rig or script).

If I recall correctly, the problem with that cosmetic having a WHITE paintable area that won't change is cause of a self illuminant texture property. Unfortunately I cannot make a paintable version of that, and dissabling it will render the glowing parts unlit. There are many cosmetics that have this problem and it's simply because of the selfilumination.

My solution is to shine a light of the proper color against it.

The Corona Australis has had a lot of trouble getting to SFM it seems, as the only ones out there don't fix it. Could you possibly look into it?

It does not yet. I actually didn't notice that the Outback Intellectual had the texture error as well.

'c_bet_brinkhood' is the file name for The Anger.
The file name is what you want for searching models in the model search.
