Hey! there isnțt by any chance a modified hydrogen version of this,is there?
Halo5 18 Apr, 2018 @ 7:42pm
I'm in creative and I spawned this craft in, and when I hopped into the main cockpit the rotor lock and wing thruster icons were missing, easy fix. But, when i locked the wings and turned on the large thrusters for the wings they simply didnt work. They would turn on, then off and continue repeatedly for no apparent reason. Everything else worked just fine. Great build, other then the trouble with the wing thrusters.
Lord Commissar  [author] 21 Feb, 2018 @ 7:40pm
you could theoretically make blueprints for the wings by themselves and have them projected onto the body once the center is complete. you'd have to put projectors on the rotor connections for that.

SE simply has no system in place for efficiently projecting multi-part grids
Screaming Alpha 21 Feb, 2018 @ 7:35pm
at the risk of asking a dumb question how do i build it?
Lord Commissar  [author] 21 Feb, 2018 @ 7:04am
you can't project multi-part grids
Screaming Alpha 20 Feb, 2018 @ 9:35pm
so I loaded this and the bomber in a projector and there are no wings, just the body and rotors
DSD 25 Aug, 2016 @ 12:57am
it is very star wars-esque, all the star wars fighters have foldy wings (lock s-foils in attack position!)
DSD 25 Aug, 2016 @ 12:53am
+kalamyar the spitfire was an excellent British fighter in WWII, this definetely lives up to the name.
DSD 25 Aug, 2016 @ 12:52am
or you could merge-block the wings if it was ok for them not to be straight:steamhappy:
DSD 14 Aug, 2016 @ 12:26am
U could use the mod that adds blocks that have actions when you press a key to get the wing thrusters to work
Lord Commissar  [author] 13 Aug, 2016 @ 11:51pm
read the context. it follows that up by talking about development of a new starfighter
Wilder 13 Aug, 2016 @ 6:25pm
"As Phoenix began to shift its attention towards atmospheric warfare, some of its older starfighter models began to get outdated" I mean, It doesnt say "its an atmo fighter" but that sounds like it.
creeper king 82 9 Aug, 2016 @ 8:42am
lord commissar i am not a good at mecking ships but if i made a spitfire i se i wuld have it look alike in some ways but being a space ship at the same time
Estevezz 8 Aug, 2016 @ 12:11pm
nope i was mistaken the plane i was thinking of was the p-38 lightning. however there is a double cockpit plane that didint serve durring ww 2 but was built for that war. the P-82 twin mustang
Estevezz 8 Aug, 2016 @ 12:08pm
Isn't the spitfire the double cockpit world war 2 plane?
Selsun [Danger Dolphin] 8 Aug, 2016 @ 10:05am
That is what they said, I was responding to their comment.
"i like the irl ww2 spitfire it is a best fighter ever YOU SHIP IS NOT A SPITFIRE IT DO NOT LOOK LIKE ONE AND THE SPITFIRE ONLY HAD GUNS AND AND AND IT NOT A CAMO PANT JOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
TheAngrySquirrel 8 Aug, 2016 @ 8:45am
I did unlock the wings before trying to fold them, but it has since occurred to me that i was trying to fold them while out in space, away from a ship or station, my velocity was at 0.0 but every time I pressed the hotkey to fold them, the ship would start to rotate, tipping the nose 'down', and therefore possibly 'moving' the rotors at higher than 10m/s, though i doubt it.
Lord Commissar  [author] 8 Aug, 2016 @ 6:00am
it never says that
Wilder 7 Aug, 2016 @ 10:20pm
I.... am confused. It says for atmo but I don't see a single atmo thruster on there am I tripping?
Selsun [Danger Dolphin] 7 Aug, 2016 @ 9:57pm
No one said it was a replica of the damn spitfire, if I name a ship watergate are you going to tell me it doesnt look like hillary?
Selsun [Danger Dolphin] 7 Aug, 2016 @ 9:55pm
That is a lot of rockets
Lord Commissar  [author] 7 Aug, 2016 @ 11:29am
the wings wont move until you take the wing lock off. (button 4). beyond that, they should perform fine though i'd still say you shouldnt move the wings while moving the ship. if you followed that, i'm honestly not sure why. clang has its ways....
TheAngrySquirrel 7 Aug, 2016 @ 10:35am
On another note, I'm a bit of a tinkerer, and I prefer playing with mods, so I experimented with it afterwards and made a fixed wing variant, just attaching the existing wings to the main body, and swapped out most of the thrusters for Azimuth models, also added a matched pair of Az Tiny 6-way Fusion Reactors, in place of two of the conveyor hubs under the cockpit. As a result, it is now significantly faster, has backup power (minimal), and extremely stable, but it's also a nightmare to build a hangar for. To those asking for a fixed wing model, be careful what you wish for.

Thank you for an amazing craft, it's fun to fly, and to tinker on.
TheAngrySquirrel 7 Aug, 2016 @ 10:35am
Having played around with this craft in creative, as I wanted to check it out before committing resources on my clans DS, I love it, but it does seem to have an issue. When I tried to use the hotbar shortcut to fold the wings, they wouldn't move, and when i did finally get them to move, they did not move properly and blew up the cargo containers, taking out most of the ship.
This was on single player creative, in a 'safe' environment.
Lord Commissar  [author] 7 Aug, 2016 @ 7:32am
@creeper you make a historically inaccurate assumption if you believe that something has to look and be exactly like what it is named after

P-47 Mustang - definitely not a horse
P-40 Lightning - definitely not a discharge of electromagnetism
F-35 Lightning - also not a discharge of electromagnetism, nor is it anything like the former craft by that name
B-1 Lancer - definitely does not have a lance on its nose and can't be used for jousting

all names are named in spirit
"Spitfire" conjures up ideas of ferocity, and this fighter was made to represent that.
in fact, the plane was named after an Elizabethan era term meaning a ferocious person

secondly, "spitting fire" fits the idea of a Dragon, which is part of a naming convention i have used on several craft.
Lord Commissar  [author] 7 Aug, 2016 @ 5:57am
@Axiio thanks for the offer, but i don't play Arma. if you mean an SE community, i'm already committed to the Phoenix one.

@memesenberg i suppose that's true. EVE tends to influence a lot of my designs, even sub-consciously ;)
creeper king 82 7 Aug, 2016 @ 5:26am

looks like a Dragonfly from EvE Online

I've opened up a new Community on Arma 3 although we are expanding. I'm creating a building team for our Community. If you want to join and need further information, please send me a friend request. Thanks.

thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!
Tiberius Lacedaemon 6 Aug, 2016 @ 10:41am
My friend,

I have never reviewed or commented on any workshop items for any game that I have, but I have to say...

Out of the hundreds of ship I have downloaded, this is by far, one of the best ships I have ever seen and played with.

Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
Gecko 6 Aug, 2016 @ 7:42am
cheers :)
Lord Commissar  [author] 6 Aug, 2016 @ 7:39am
@h1nks there won't be a fixed wing version of this craft, though i may make different fixed wings in the future

@nordic thanks for the feedback. the high acceleration definitely helps to compensate for the bulk of the craft

@splid you wont find it in mods list or worlds, you need to access your blueprint menu in-game (F10)
Gecko 6 Aug, 2016 @ 3:50am
i have subscribed and cannot find it in workshop worlds or mods list. tried re-subbing but that hasnt done anything. help would be appreciated thanks
NordicBeast 6 Aug, 2016 @ 2:34am
I build fighters, a lot. My first impression was what a beautiful wing shape, but I didn't imagine the ship would fly all that well with those wings because of the rotors even with locking them. Once I flew it, I was very impressed! It handles well, it's extremely well armed with a tool bar layout thats very easy to follow. I'm very impressed by this build! Rated and faved!
H1nks 5 Aug, 2016 @ 5:28pm
i wonder if a smaller, fixed wing version will be made, if not that's cool the ship is beautiful to look at and pack just the right punch as well.
Brian Stormborn 5 Aug, 2016 @ 12:55pm
I look forward to seeing it
Lord Commissar  [author] 5 Aug, 2016 @ 11:17am
@brian not yet, but it will
Brian Stormborn 5 Aug, 2016 @ 9:46am
Dose the fighter have a mother ship that it's connected to?
creeper king 82 5 Aug, 2016 @ 7:34am

Gyro86 5 Aug, 2016 @ 6:17am
couple of rocket hits and its out.... 77 tonns - a lot of drift. No latheral thrust (a few small thrusters will only be usefull when docking). But hey! it's beutifull!))))
Lord Commissar  [author] 5 Aug, 2016 @ 4:26am
that's why it's battery powered, so you can recharge since you can't let uranium or resources flow through the small rotors.

the ship was tested in MP. it doesnt break so long as you lock the wings down.
Sickno 5 Aug, 2016 @ 4:15am
design and wings are AWESOME good work on that, but it has roters ... how can it be survival ready ? useally roters and survival is trouble
DSD 4 Aug, 2016 @ 11:50pm
i think it lives up to its name!:steamhappy:
[BKC] Papi Dragon 4 Aug, 2016 @ 11:37pm
you press f10 and it show some ship yuo meet of make and go to the bottem or the the top and click it and press ctrl and c at the same time
Jimmy Heckjumper 4 Aug, 2016 @ 8:54pm
How do I spawn in the ship?
JCapt 4 Aug, 2016 @ 6:38pm
Ah. Thanks for answering my questions.
Lord Commissar  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 6:37pm
no. i had wanted to include emergency power, but the bulky conveyor systems didn't allow it. i suppose a few reactors could be thrown in, but i just felt it wasn't worth the effort seeing as you'll hardly have enough power to use the main thrust anyway.
