Meanwhile in Black Mesa there's no year 2000! There's 1993!

I don't care when the game is supposed to happen. I work at a real lab and can tell you we still have 20+ machines still using DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. They run specialized testing equipment that was custom build. Now, they are isolated on private networks with no access to the outside, but we still have them. So this mod is completely realistic.

makes sense since lots of computers that are used for important stuff are still on windows 98

Actually 2003

makes sense. According to the lore, Half life happens at 1998

A private research lab cofunded by biggest military congloramate in the world running windows systems? really?

That research lab comptuers are all connected to privatly owned top notch military servers and unique os.
those should be running Black Mesa Source as the name of the Os.
When running research as important as they are doing, you want 0 compromise in operating system security.

Might as well run a microsoft os that is specificaly made for the black mesa research labs. With a kernel core that is made to handle the hardware used at the black mesa reseach center.

Note: one of Area-51 names is AFFTC DET#3 "Air Force Flight Test Center Detachment # 3".

@ Doinken Half-Life/Black Mesa takes place around 2000-2009 according to the former's manual. That being said this is still a nice mod

This is cool. The XP screens in the base game were a nitpick of mine, as the game took place before XP came out. NT makes more sense.
Kuneh0 13 Dec, 2017 @ 1:56am
that looks nice

В те времена когда первая халва выходила XP даже не было
