The Attila total war AI is a hit or miss, sometimes it'll put up a good fight, sometimes it'll just do a moshpit, exhaust its troops, and you'll do the encircling very easily.
This mod does things quite well, despite the mention of "fights being more slow", it does not keep it grindy. The biggest improvement is hands down the archery and missile focus, archers have a far greater range and shoot in an arc like in shogun II. This can be inconvenient if you play the base game with a unit number modifier, as archers won't find the right spot to shoot their arrows at you, but with this mod, they can be right behind units at close range and shoot their stuff at the enemy.
I'd recommend it to people who wants to try and see for themselves if they'd find battles to be more enjoyable as i am so far.
and have a sense if i use whit Realistic Charge Impacts???
-military formations
pros
-trajectory
cons/historically inaccurate
-slower paced combat
I like to do cinematic battles and the con is way to big for my liking
But one question: Why does spacing not work anymore?
AND: Could you make it compatible with the Dark Ages AD257 (4.0) Mod?
Would be great - Thank you in advance.
And what does "Better veterans" mean?
If I install this mod, will I need to additionally install "Realistic Cav Charges"?
What has been done for longer battles? Increased armor? If the armor is increased, are they in the same proportions for all units?
- couldn't resist.
but yeah, again- apart from that pet peeve, ya'll addressed alot of things i think has gotten more-fantasy (mp focused? ) in the game, luckily we have quite the mod community to address such differences in tastes; so I should end with a "bravo"
I'll see what ya'll did, i was just curious; as it doesn't seem a lot of folks noticed they "snuck in" that change ( from trained to troops almost all ) - and few share my conclusion that doing so ( as the original rome2 crew seem to have; before the new-crew change, judging by the name "expert" & the units as had it.) ...that setting vs a charge takes... some grit.
-I was just curious, but sure, why would u remember that offhand?
Sorry to bug you about an old mod; thanks for the response, and I'll check it out ;)
Cant really answer your question fully but just experiment with the mod and see if you like it or not.
- i've a question tho'-
since ATW on, it seems ALL spear men get "set spear vs charge" ( expert charge reflection/defense ) - which may go with mp and rock-scissor-paper-
but doesn't very well reflect how much discipline, training, and raw *courage* receiving a charge w/ spears *took* - does this mod address this?
