(so without music for warp transition).
I just had an idea (due to that suggestion about the slime race... and some things from Minecraft as well).
While this could be a separate mod, I'll still say it here. (And yes, I know it might be impossible to correctly create this idea.)
Including a simple config per race that toggles some randomness in the beam that makes sense for the race's beam. Example for the slimes mentioned could be that it seems to wiggle like the slimes in games such as Terraria. An example for the Glitch, sparks. Humans.. parts like the head pokes out randomly. A race with psyonic powers... asteroid pieces slowly come from the bottom of the screen & smash with ones that are stationary (which is visually moving downwards at a fast speed) (assuming beaming up).
Start of it is: [nopa rse]
End of it is: [/nopa]
So I can actually go from bold to raw showing up
Dang. I didn't think of how it treats brackets.
Yeah... That's true... Unfortunately, the Steam UI likes to make it a link and all that baloney (making it impossible just to get the name in full and the name alone)
Oh, well I just copy-pasted your username (and have been). It makes it easier to type.
From what I've seen from the sprites, all death events use the same animation. I believe there's an exception for penguins, as they have their own animation to fit with their size.
Since I haven't done much modding of Starbound in a while (haven't even played it since I got L4D2), is there like a API call to "hook" into any NPCs death event? I know that would be an easy way to do it, but it would become difficult to override all the possible different animations / sounds without touching the code that some NPCs need to run on their own death events (like to progress the storyline, etc.)
Looking back at the files for the animations, I can see it's possible to increase/decrease the size and the amount of frames in each animation. So yes, it is actually possible.
Maybe 3 versions? This one already here (beam-only), one with an explode on the player(s) only (contains beam), and one with all NPCs and beam.
I assume that idea would be best as a separate mod as some people might have conflicting data already in their mod setup.
Well, that's a little difficult, but I can definitely do the death sound. The animation I'm really not sure about, but I'm sure it's possible.
Thank you for responding. I really do appreciate it. :)
Actually, the video is outdated. I need to re-record it but I haven't had time to. I'll get a new one up as soon as I can.
If it does, ignore the rest of this post.
The fix would be to try to figure out what a good frequency is to flip-flop "frames" of the animation would be, and then add a variant of the full beam itself you already have with the editing the top and bottom of the overall beam (both of those piece segments get cropped half-way while you add a segment somewhere in the middle to offset the cut amount). The result should make it look like the beam is moving through space.
I was thinking of doing that. I think the Level Select music could work well.
I would do that if I knew how Starbound handles Lua.

Same here. Nothing clashes with the blue-and-black color scheme of my character, ship and bases quite like a bright banana yellow warp animation.
