I don't know why, but it doesn't work anymore. It used to work, but now every time I play as Von Carstein the capital doesn't change when I take Drakenhof (don't know about the other factions, haven't tested that). I saw in the comments that this has happenned already in the past and apparently you fixed it, so maybe you could please fix it again?

Plan to make a similar mod for Warhammer 2 once Mortan Empire comes out? :) Considering the factions you do for here will be there too. Pluss Queec (skaven) have mission to take Karak 8 peaks too.

1. Unfortunately this mod works at the faction level, e.g. it says "Clan Angrund's real capital is Karka Eight Peaks" as opposed to at the lord level "Belegar Ironhammer's real capital is Karak Eight Peaks". So to change it so Ungrim relocates to Karak Kadrin would mean changing the Dwarf faction as a whole.

2. It looks like that mod changes the 'starpos.esf' file, which this mod also does, in which case they won't be compatible unfortunately. Crysnos added this mod's changes into his excellent faction mods though so the mod you linked already includes this!

I can't remember SFO making any changes to the startpos.esf file so it should be compatible!


Basically, if a mod affects the initial world map in any way (e.g. moving lords around, making factions playable, changing who owns what when the game starts) chances are it's incompatible.

1) What about Ungrim Ironfist, wouldn't it make sense for his captial to be Karak Kadrin (Slayer Keep) when he captures it?
2) Does this mod work alongside Legendary Lord Unique Start Position mod?

1. Open the save game, select the "factions" display table and click parse:

2. Double-click the faction you want to edit in the list below, and modify the highlighted value:

3. Close the window and File -> Save Savegame (takes a while).

Just fyi, to the people trying to change the capital during a running campaign: The Save Parser tool available on sourceforce allows for easy switching of capitals.

For whatever reason at least the 'Drakenhof for Von Carsteins" part doesn't work for me (can't really check other parts fast enough) even with all other mods disabled.
I always started campaign from scratch (hard difficulty) to check it, capturing Drakenhof on turn 2 and yet nothing happens. I even always waited a turn but still nothing happens.

I tried adding this to my mod and it seemed to cause the startpos changes I had made to not work (just victory condition changes). Can this be done via DAVE or does it have to be a PFM change? Perhaps I am doing PFM wrong?

@scribblee Would you mind elaborating how you edited the save? If I try to add from pack/files etc i get the save file in but it seems to be empty? Any hints anyone could provide would be appreciated - i'm on the eight peaks doorstep now :P

Ok, my plans for the evening were cancelled - so the mod has been updated. Only done a quick check but as the new screenshot shows, it seems to be working.

I also now appreciate that Throgg's home is Troll Country (you'd think that was obvious really...) so can understand the request to move his home to Erengrad - as can been seen, this is now the case!

Again, thank you for being patient while I was away and delaying preordering TWW2.

Having not played/know much about Norsca - does Throgg have a particular connection to Erengrad?

At the moment this mod doesn't allow me to select the Norse factions in campaign. I'll wait for an update as this is a pretty useful mod. :praisesun:

Hey all, just chiming in to say that editing the save game file in a similar manner to tne image linked in the description seems to work. At least on my initial inspection, haven't had time to see if there's any long time problems with it.

@Whiskeyjack - Sorry for the late reply! As far as I can tell, there are no penalties whatsoever if you lose your capital - this applies to any of the factions.

@cwoecwoe - As GodKingDarkly states, it won't apply to campaigns in progress. My apologies, I should have mentioned this in the description. If you are feeling super savvy you could try following the instructions in the imgur link in the description, just instead of editting the startpos file, you edit your save game. Can't guarantee it will work though, and whatever you do, make sure you backup your save game first!

@cwoecwoe Unfortunately because of the limitations of the game this mod, and any other like it, won't work on games in progress, you'll have to start a new game for it to work. I don't think there's anything the modmakers can do about that, sadly.

hey, loved the look of the mod for my clan Angrund campaigne. However I have just taken Karak eight peaks and it has not swapped to my capital. I may have installed this mod after the campaigne started and I do have some trade agreements with factions neigbouring the vaults (If any of that may be stopping me) If you can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated.

Hey @Psychopriest, really like the mod man, definately something that should have been in the base game. can i ask a question though? with this mod, as crooked moon and clan angrund have both technically "lost" their capitol, are there any negative affects associated with this? public order or diplomatic penalties that will occur until you recapture karak eight peaks? I'm not even sure that there are any penalties caused by losing your capitol in the base game, but I figured you'd be the guy to ask.

@LAMB - yes, FACTION_ARRAY - 14 is Von Carstein. I guess when they added them as a new faction they just updated the original Schwartzhafen faction!

@Aishio - That mod is also a startpos mod so they won't work with each other unfortunately. And I'm afraid I don't have any time to see about merging it myself. Sorry!

@Olgierd von Everec - thank you for confirming the mod works with confederating!

This mod doesn't cause issue when confederating with the counts. Tested many times.

BTW: To confederate someone you need to be higher strength ranking than them, this is the sole requirement as far as I have noticed. So wait for them to get pummeled by Zhufbar or spend a few turns in the mountains taking attrition baths.

I sent you a friend request recently because I've been asked a few times now whether I could make your mod and my PCBSO mod compatible.
They both edit the startpos.esf file, so our mods can't be used together.
As you've published the necessary instructions already: May I integrate your capital tweaks into my mod?

In the few games i've played, I have been unable to get the vampire counts to confederate with me, so have been unable to verify what happens! I will have to have another crack at it.

@Cyrane and others who want to try this themselves: please see this imgur album that shows the process - http://imgur.com/a/ycpEV . The values that are given there were from the wood elf patch but I think are up to date.

What exactly needs to be edited in the files to enable this change? The reason I'm asking is so I could do it myself with some other startpos mods that I also like to play with.
