Then, paste this link on the Bigmap page. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/40.7356/-74.0583
Start expanding the map shown on Bigmap as explained in the guide, a maximum of 10 x 10 Bigmap tiles. Follow the guide instructions on setting the Bigmap queue and then copy / save the map image once it's done processing.
While I don't have instructions to get a Google map overlay (although I've heard it's possible), you can get openstreetmap content to be really high res and detailed by going to a site called Bigmap. How to use Bigmap for an overlay is in a guide I made: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1275917540
*Always quit to desktop first*, don't go back to main menu if you're in game and but want to reload a save or change to a different save. Your computer and RAM will thank you. ;)
That should get you on your feet some if you don't know this stuff already.
Just a tidbit on that subject to help you out. What's called a "mod" here in the game (and on the workshop) are actual changes to the game's code, so many of those need to be updated regularly. So with *those*, you do have to be really really careful. If you see something in the mod category that you like, then 1) be sure to check the comments section for problems/complaints or comments that it's working, and read the modder's writeup carefully 2) just add one code mod at a time because you will then be able to tell which mod caused a problem if one pops up (and it can, so this will save you some headaches trying to figure out which mod caused the problem).
Why haven't you created a 5 borough map or even a 3.5 borough (manhattan, BK, Qns lower bx, Ft. George SI). Your maps are far better than the Vanilla versions but your NY metro are the most accurate
You'll be able to zoom closer to see which are dual carriageways.
Sorry for the poor quality on this overlay, it was one of my first attempts :)
:D jalil.mitchell, that giant rock / hill is so friggin weird Isn't it. "What's this giant rock doing here in the middle of a giant swamp?
