it funny, these guns have 2 models, both suck because its design was not mud, sand and dirt resistance, the first one false due to the magazine basically open for mud, the second model was just French manufacture incompetent, they used the wrong bullet magazine size.

Lot's of people here not knowing that most of the jamming issues of the Chauchat were actually attributed to the shoddily converted 30-06 version used by American troops. Though the cut outs on the side of the magazines causing jams is at least true to a point

this gun had a slow rate of fire, jammed easily, mud got into the magazine too easily, and it was overall ineffective

I like the gun, I really do. I think its abstract design is attracting imo. However, the moon magazine was the downfall of the gun along with the barrel easily being overheated. However, from what I've gathered, it was really the weapon condition that determined the Chauchat. Most likely, in an urban, clean environment, the gun would be excellent. Merci monsieur Rex!

How so? From what I heard, the gun actually worked in it's intentional design (besides it's magazine peep holes). It was the American recaliber that made a mess of things and kept jamming on it's users.

I know that but because of it jamming and it falling apart doesn't happen in games. it would suck ass especially in the middle of a fire fight but this gun did alot and got lots of people killed because of it flaws and if it broke you couldn't change parts with another chauchat because each chauchat was manufactured differently thats why this gun sucked in irl also mud and shit getting in the magazine because the one side was open. but this gun is fun to use in games when none of that bs happens in game also whoever made this gun irl should have called it the Fusil de Merde not chauchat.
