looks like you just took natural wonders and renamed them?
Raul Pudd 28 Jun, 2019 @ 6:34pm
I just want to point out that Crater Lake does not contain any natural sources of food. The plus one food is not historically accurate

i ran into trouble with this mod and terra mibilis - i suspect it is caused by the fact that both mods change some yields of the four wonders this mod changes. and that both modsd add the lake victoria as wonder. can you do some testing there? because i want the wonders of both mods, yet i cant use them alongside each other.

After the recent update, I am now getting an error every time i try to load a game with this addon active
pauloel7 2 Aug, 2018 @ 6:46pm
So I found out R&F expansion already brings MATTERHORN into the game, generating a conflict. I've deleted its lines from NaturalWonders.xml, and cleared Modding.log, but Database.log still complains about it in the NaturalWonders_Text.xml file, which I cannot open and edit (see below). Anyone can help with a fix here? Would be really nice to see this mod updated!

Anyone else is having error messages in the modding log because of this mod: "[4156139.624] LocalizedText - Loading Naturalia/Text/NaturalWonders_Text.xml
[4156139.624] Warning: LocalizedText - Error Loading XML."? Also, cannot open "NaturalWonders_Text.xml" - message reads: "Text encoding Unicode (UTF-8) isn't applicable!?

still wait this mod :(

I know it's been forever since you've touched this mod, but I'm curious if you would make a new mod for American natural wonders. (maybe make a series, 'merica, then europe, africa, etc.) I see you've got a few in there, but there is quite a bit that I wish someone would add i.e. Devil's Tower, the Badlands, Mt. Rainier, and so on. Thanks!

does this work for R&F anyone know?
Flutterdyke 17 Apr, 2018 @ 8:20pm
Disappointed to find that this mod won't load in vanilla. (as of April 17, 2018) Any idea when a fix might be developed?
Vasamm 3 Mar, 2018 @ 3:08am
Doesn't work any more for vanilla (i don't have R&F), crashes back to main menue when starting game. Tested it without any other mods. Any ideas how to fix?
Basilica 13 Feb, 2018 @ 4:31pm
Since Matterhorn is now in R&F what does that mean for this mods version of Matterhorn?
Pacs 25 Nov, 2017 @ 11:59pm
I know Ananse has no intention of releasing another version that only tweaks the base wonders (and that's fine, great mod), but do any of you fine people know how I could go about perhaps tweaking the mod to only change the base wonders?
TheMule 20 Oct, 2017 @ 8:37pm
This mod looks awesome! To echo some others on here, however, I don't think you need to include Fuji if there's another mod that actually adds it in with it's own unique model. Perhaps you could collaborate and get permission to use the other model? All things considered, you've done fantastic work here!

Now, I have a question. Should this mod's affect on natural wonder yield work in an existing save game? For example, I have the Pantanal in my game. If I load this mod, should its yield change to 3 food? I'm just asking because it didn't when I tried it, and I'm wondering if I did something wrong.
Ashmole 20 Jul, 2017 @ 4:05am
Tanganyika doesn't work for me either.
juice 14 Jul, 2017 @ 12:15pm
love the mod, please make cliffs of dover buildable
Baleur 1 Jul, 2017 @ 12:04pm
Why add Fuji when it already exists on the workshop with a custom model?
Otherwise great mod, but the natural wonders could be more unique i think, its a bit of a shame to have reused assets
Kitten 26 Jun, 2017 @ 8:40pm
@sabotague I have noticed the Tanganyika does not not give me any bonus. Haven't been near the others.
Grzemek 24 May, 2017 @ 6:53am
@Ananse I moved my land units next to Tanganyika and Lake Superior but my units did not receive the river crossing or embark discount. I tested it with only Naturalia enabled and all official DLCs, no other mods. I double-checked Lysenfjord and Giant's Causeway and their abilities work for me (not only the floating text, but the modifier's in-game impact).

Do those abilities work for others?
Scheater 14 Apr, 2017 @ 5:51am
Pantanau seems a bit broken once you get Chichen Itza.
Otter 7 Apr, 2017 @ 7:59am
@ Ananse. Thanks for your mods!! One thing though, I have to say that using the tropical reefs for lakes like Lake Superior doesn't look realistic in my opinion. I'm actually looking at lake Michigan right now. Any way that you could make a mod where the lakes are the lake graphic in the game?
I Am Groot 2 Apr, 2017 @ 7:00pm
could you make a mod to make the cliffs of dover buildable?
grunkibis 31 Mar, 2017 @ 2:23pm
@DaGremlin and author, Dead Sea does have a relationship to SALT. discuss...
Birds Aren't Real 26 Mar, 2017 @ 1:27pm
This mod looks awesome, I'm really glad that you fixed cliffs of dover.
scottkbeers 19 Mar, 2017 @ 7:07pm
Wow DaGremlin = DaScholar.. Ok give Dead Sea +1 movement for navy and embarked units when adjacent to wonder.

Crater Lake.. hmm deep blue clear waters..Lot of beatiful flowers grow and prosper around that lake.. So i think your fine with doubling tile yeilds or extra food and colture around wonder.. Don't gotta get to picky with that.
Ananse  [author] 19 Mar, 2017 @ 3:42pm
fair enough
DaGremlin 19 Mar, 2017 @ 3:02pm
Since the yield of natural wonders is generally based off of their historic impacts/resources, it doesn't really make much sense to add food to the dead sea or crater lake. The dead sea's water is too saline to support fish populations, and using the water for crop irrigation would result in salinization of the soil rendering it less fertile than it was to begin with. Crater Lake, on the other hand, has very pure water, but still does not have any natural fish populations, any fish found in crater lake were placed there through stocking starting in the 1880's, and only two of the stocked species have remained in stable populations. It seems to me that it would make sense to change the food yield on those wonders to something a little more fitting of their individual histories.
scottkbeers 18 Mar, 2017 @ 8:11pm
Ananse i think this is a bit to good.. :steamhappy:
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 6:58pm
sorry Kave, this is as granular as its getting
Kave Johnson 12 Mar, 2017 @ 6:50pm
Can you post a separate mod of just the buffs to vanilla natural wonders?
Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 6:20pm
I suppose, yes.
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 4:44pm
Im not sure if I can separate the torres del paine tiles but if I can I'll try that. For Salar, sounds like the Crater Lake model would work?
Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 4:03pm
I would like you to include matterhorn, which could look like one of the two tiles from the Torres del Paine. It would have +1 gold to all adjacent tiles, and military units who cross adjacent to it ignore hills for the rest of the game. I would like you to include Salar De Uyuni, a 3 tile wonder, It would look like a lake with silver colored water. +1 food and +1 gold to all adjacent tiles.
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:47pm
Anyway it doesn't matter, I'm not taking them out. If you want to argue for including more things that you like, I'm happy to listen. But the shit that's in there is staying there.
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:45pm
What with allowing humans into the Americas and all.
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:45pm
Hawaii is a major population center, which doesn't make sense for impassable, unworkable islands. I think you guys are also underestimating the cultural and historic importance of the Bering Strait....
Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:40pm
Galapagos are likely included because of Darwin's expedition there, hence the scientific bonus it gives. Aleutians could be replaced with Hawaiian islands, which have a lot more history since they were once an entire civilization (of which was included in Civ V), and are also a chain of volcanic islands. They are important cornerstones in American history as well as World history. (Pearl Harbor, the United State's entrance into WW2.)
As for modeling, there is a lot of modeling people in the Civ modders community, you could ask them for help or perhaps learn to model for civ. Also, black forest would be a recolored denser forest with a possible waterfall. Nile would be a river, but far wider and have a 1-tile large delta.
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:30pm
So I'm left with the models for an island chain. And I'm thus gonna make a second natural wonder that's an island chain. I picked Aleutians because A) I wanted an arctic one to contrast with the tropical Galapogos, B) they also have cultural and historic significance.

But mostly I had the models for an island chain.

I do not have the models for a forest natural wonder for Black Forest, or a river natural wonder for the Nile. So I can't make those.

I do not have the models for a giant canyon, which is why I didn't make the Grand Canyon. What I do have is the model for a region filled with jagged rock spires. Which is why I picked Bryce Canyon - that's what it looks like.

Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:29pm
I'm not an artist and so I have no plans to personally add new models. I'm not even sure that it's possible with the modding tools currently available. If it is, at some point someone will add some new models and the modding community will be able to play with that. But it won't be me who does it :)

You're missing the point from my response that the new wonders were chosen based on the models already in the base game. Yes, scientifically speaking the Aleutian Islands are "just a chain of Volcanic islands". Much like how, scientifically speaking, the kind of isolated pockets of genetic variation found on the Galapogos are also present in numerous other island chains on Earth. There's nothing really special about them - yet they are included in the base game because of their cultural/historic significance to European culture.

Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:17pm
Salar de Uyuni is the largest Salt Flat in the world. The importance? It looks exactly like a deep lake, but is shallow enough to walk across. Also under it is a huge reserve of Lithium, worth over 1 trillion USD. Black Forest has been a main cultural focus in Germany for almost all of it's history, especially during the Holy Roman Empire, which is the German civ for this game.
As for Modeling, you are just recoloring natural wonders already in the game? Or at some point are you going to ask anyone to create new models for them? [2/2]
Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 3:17pm
I don't understand the Aleutians. They are a chain of volcanic islands, honestly I don't see that much importance. Bryce Canyon is cool and all but there's also Zion, Grand Canyon, and Devil's Tower. All of which have a lot of cultural, scientific, and religious importance. Grand Canyon is considered more famous than Bryce, and Devil's Tower has been a major point in a major motion picture. Matterhorn is the most difficult mountain to climb in the world, and while Denali does have importance in Alaskan culture, it hasn't been a huge focus in a race to climb mountains back in the 19th and 20th century. Nile is literally the entire economic, religious, and cultural focus for both Ancient and Modern Africa. Fuji I would actually consider a Natural wonder, since it has played a major role in the history of Japan. [1/2]
Ananse  [author] 12 Mar, 2017 @ 2:51pm
All of this work is done with the models from the base game. Wonders were picked in accordance with what made sense with the base game's models. Bryce Canyon was picked, for instance, because it will be easy to retexture Tsigny a dusty brown and it will look like Bryce Canyon. Things like the Nile weren't picked because there is no model for a natural wonder river.

At the risk of sounding rude, what you consider a natural wonder doesn't matter to anyone in the world except you. In your mind Lake Victoria is, the Nile is, but Bryce Canyon isn't? The Pantanal is, but the Everglades isn't? Matterhorn is, but Denali isn't?

Ultimately there's no scientific definition anyway, so it's always going to be defined culturally and subjectively. So I picked things that made sense to me.
Wobbly 12 Mar, 2017 @ 2:40pm
First of all, some of these new natural wonders could be other natural wonders, I don't consider any of these (besides Victoria) natural wonders. Maybe have other ones such as Nile, Black Forest, Matterhorn, Grand Canyon, and Salar de Uyuni. Second of all, are you going to make them have different models?
