However, the building is not in reality at a 90 degree corner. It would have been nice with a modulation that reflected reality.
I'm in love with your Dorilton Building.....
I'm FAVORITEing and THUMBS-UPing your Dorilton and hope to figure out how to make it a "Unique Building" and then, despite Colossal's parameters, add residences to it anyway (via RICO) when I do my next city....the one I'm working on now doesn't have any Rico in it.
Thanks so much for making this beautiful building.
:^)
I get it now.......
Tried to create a resid building of my own (just a revised copy of a Vanilla building). That's the best my skills allow. I could never dream of being able to create something as beautiful and intricate as your Dorilton.
But in the process of doing this I did figure out why the Dorilton is hanging over the sidewalk. My buildings did that too when I tried to give them more than a 4x4 footprint. And if I made them "unique buildings," which allows for larger footprints, they no longer had residences in them - only visitors and tourists - and some had workers..... soooo.... Catch 22 as they say.....
Long story short - I now get the dilemma you face in not being able to keep the Dorilton from overlapping the sidewalk. Colossal parameters won't allow you to.
So my apologies for asking for that.......
:^)
I don't have the realistic pop mod - never have had it - not even heard of it till today. Have you updated this building for the Green Cities DLC? When that came out, that was when I first noticed the population problem.
Any ideas? I really want to keep your building in my city - I have many, many neighborhoods scattered throughout my board made entirely of this building. Would hate to have to change out to another one that is not as pretty. This one is so beautiful......only problems with it are the populatioin problem and that Cims walk through the pillars that are overlapping the sidewalk. Oh yes, forgot I wanted to know if you could fix that as well? Maybe? Please? If you have time? I put links to two screenshots to demonstrate that problem in my October 4 comment. Did you have time to take a look at it?
Okay - ran into one other problem after the GREEN CITIES updates.....I used to get up to 180+ filled residences in your Dorilton building (when I RICO'd it to hold 209 residences). But now, after the GREEN CITIES updates, it won't fill more than 12 to 40 residences.
Could you fix it, please, to work with the new Green Updates?
Thanks
:^)
I absolutely LOVE your Dorilton building - use it extensively throughout my game....that said, I do have one tiny problem with it's pillars and front gate setting on top of the inside of the sidewalk it is placed on...these two screenshots are a visual of my problem: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1158138582 , and https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1158145068
At present it's position forces Cims to walk through it on their way down the street.
Could you put just a little bit of room between the front of the Dorilton and the road it is placed on?
My city will be shared to Workshop soon - and I'd love to have all the Dorilton's on it be set back far enough for Cims and Users in first person mode to enjoy walking in front of it.
If this is too hard, please just ignore my request. And thanks, again, for this beautiful asset.
I thought you might like to see how beautiful your building looks when it is the only one on the hill (13 times).
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=888723343 shows a distance shot of the entire neighborhood - made entirely of your building.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=888723632 gives a close-up view of one of the Dorilton buildings and a close look at the parks surrounding it.
Please feel free to copy the screenshots, Darf, and add them to yours on this asset page if you like. Call it my thanks to you for making such a wonderful building.
:^)
This is such an intriguing building that I just had to do a RICO setting on it and then make a couple neighborhoods in my gamesave out of many duplicaates of it all in one area. With parks in between and around them, they look fantastic. One neighborhood is made up entirely of 13 of this building and is called Jacaranda Heights (because it's incorporated into a massive park complex at the top of a hill that has trees by Mr. Maison featured in it ... especially his beautiful Jacarandas). Your buildings make this area look so very upscale. Just LOVE IT.
Thanks for all your time and effort on this asset.
That is a great news that you're going to build bigger projects!!!!!!!!
If I were a graphic director of Colossal Order you would be given a profitable contract :-)
Seriously, we can't wait... (equitable building, woolworth, municipal, bankers trust building ...)
You're one of most talented modeller here!
@Tomb it's a gorgeous building, but I'm going to do some small buildings first, before committing to some of my bigger projects.
One question: Can the building on the far right in this building's profile picture (the white/light grey one with the several setbacks) also be found in the workshop?
@Silkboxerwedgie Thanks, will keep them coming your way!
@ iommi99 I did make a tutorial some time ago: http://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/72390-how-many-of-you-use-sketchup-as-your-primary-3d-modeling-application/?do=findComment&comment=1655257 Ofcourse there's just not one trick, it is a lot of small things and a lot of effort.
Darf can you make a tutorial of how you create and texture model?
