@meapcity I would suggest real life pictures from google, like the last picture on top. I don't know how american road works are build, but I know how german ones are. The picture above are just some props, not a full road work or something like that, sorry. I bet there are a lot of informations about it; for myself, I've got a book with different scales, rules, etc., but only for german ones.

@jonycheng I don't know how road construction sides are made in the UK, but when I search for them on google, I only can find the normal cones, like this one:
