There's also a separate Workshop discussion section, I have a topic there for modding assistance.
As far as I know you start with a saber template which already determines the color, similar to the cheatcodes. For example g_w_lghtsbr01 is a single blade with blue crystal, g_w_lghtsbr02 is one with red etc.
If you have your item working with a cheatcode, then you need to pick a way a player can obtain it, there's multiple ways. I hope to see you in the workshop section.
