How about updating it for... Long War of the Chosen? XD

Frankly, your class mod was the favourite one for me to play in LW2. Would love the possibilty of using it in LWoTC ^^
James  [author] 18 Sep, 2017 @ 2:44am
Hey I probably won't update this one as most of the abilities and functions of the class are rolled into the WotC TacFor Class Pack.

Update for WOTC?
James  [author] 20 Jul, 2017 @ 12:35am
Nice hope you enjoy using it, let me know if you have any thoughts on the class.
Drake 20 Jul, 2017 @ 12:18am
Thank you for the quick reply. I am using your mod in my current playthru. :-)

Different name, different icon, different weapons and different perks.

They're both special forces inspired and may overlap in some functions, namely the Operators right hand stealth skill branch though this still has different perks. Both the left and centre perk choices are very different.

How is this different from Musashi's LW SpecOps Class?

Operator, operator, this is an emergency...

Operate that body, operate on me
Operate that body, take control of me

The Combat Knife relies on Long War 2.
ODINspearX 9 Jul, 2017 @ 6:36am
What mod do you need to get the combat knife? When I promoted a rookie, I get "Bounding Fire", but the Knife Fighter appears as a blank icon with something like "no local name for 'none'". Thanks.
marshmallow justice 7 Jul, 2017 @ 11:57am
Alright neat, was just worried it might bug out things and the class itself may not work entirely without LW2.

I know there's a mod somewhere laying around that takes the triple-perk tree functionality from the LW mods and lets you use it in Vanilla, in fact LWPP may even do that natively.
James  [author] 7 Jul, 2017 @ 11:55am
Hey several of the perks are from LW2 as is the secondary weapon. If you sub out the LW2 perks and add the sword in place of combat knife it should work. To be fair if you're boiling the perk tree down to its vanilla two branches it might not need much messing about.

I am working on a class pack for the war of the chosen release as well which will include many of the abilities used by this class.
marshmallow justice 7 Jul, 2017 @ 9:23am
Does this class rely on code from LW2 to function? I'm renovating my mod list in preparation for War of the Chosen or whatever, and I tend to mix and match other class mod's skills to match what I want (kind of like one big pool of perks like LWPP).

Just wondering if I can have this in my game without LW2, and all its skills would still work.
James  [author] 12 Jun, 2017 @ 12:30am
Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that any one tree perhaps isn't as useful as the classes named and this may partly be because due to his versatility the Operator can do many things really well but isn't a master of any path in itself. Or at least that was the idea.

I like your perk ideas though and agree that synergy with bounding fire would work well here so I will give it some thought, thank you. I may also make the shotgun available to the Operator.

One suggestion is to have a perk that automatically triggers Hunker Down if Bounding Fire was triggered. This would allow him to push deeper into enemy lines while staying somewhat safe.

Another suggestion is a perk that automatically triggers some form of reaction fire if Bounding Fire was triggered. This and the above suggestion might pair well with the Enemy Down perk to give incentive to consistently use Bounding Fire.

I like the concept of this class but find that it lacks a niche. The flashbang room breacher is cool but he can't pack a shotgun. A shottie Assault can easily sweep with far higher damage and consistency. So can a sword Shinobi. A sniper with serial can also sweep a wide open area easily.

The stealth tree is also quite lackluster as compared to a stealth Shinobi.

The tree I find with greatest potential is the middle tree that can push enemy lines well. The issue is that it loses out to a shooty DPS Ranger. I find that the issue is with the Bounding Fire mechanic. It doesn't synergize particularly well. Perhaps you could capitalize more on this to make it more unique.

Or maybe add "jump 2-3 tiles from behind (or up) with 1 critical upgrade+add dmg ,CAN always miss vital organs or need 2-3 precision cuts to disable target from moving(accidentaly pulling trigger). And for last on tree i.e "For 2AP grabs any(add more 3-4AP for healthier) target and cuts/slice/stab/pierce to death" (in those cases armor IS completly useless)
James  [author] 9 Jun, 2017 @ 2:16am
@ Spacemann Whiff - I agree Combatives wouldn't be a bad addition actually so I'll give some thought on how to work it in. The custom perk was called 'Twist the Blade' which was originally a sword perk I used on my first class mod and let the class make a melee attack that always critted and also ruptured the target.
Kassad 8 Jun, 2017 @ 10:32pm
If gives him knife perks,THAN would also need to increase stealth, smoke bombs and movement, cause won`t be able to escape=DEAD. And if enters somewhere(good position) NEED to use rifles(NOT SMG!!!) to take down target so other teammates can storm and position them.
And talking from exp:DarkKnight::Lacerator:
potential energy nonbeliever 8 Jun, 2017 @ 7:38pm
I'd like to see combatives at the very least, if not Fleche/Bladestorm. That's about all I have in mind. What was the custom knife perk? I'm quite curious.
James  [author] 8 Jun, 2017 @ 6:55pm
@Borgadan Rager - Actually I agree the Arc Thrower would suit the class well but really there are a few reasons I went for the knife. Firstly it fits thematically what I wanted the class to represent, secondly I like that the Operator can work with an Assault or Shadow Ops Infantry to maximise Breach And Clear opportunities and thirdly I thought it might be a bit unbalanced.

@Spacemann Whiff - The above explains some of the reasons I went with a knife as secondary weapon, it's also the least specialised secondary weapon for a class I wanted to be quite versatile. I did originally have Combatives and another custom knife ability in the central branch of perks but dropped them in favour of the sort of rifleman path that's in there now. What would you like to see in terms of knife perks?
potential energy nonbeliever 8 Jun, 2017 @ 2:43pm
A question: why give them a knife, then not give them ANY knife perks?
Kassad 6 Jun, 2017 @ 9:33pm
NO stun gun. Made almost perfect IRL combat recon/infiltrator class:psi:
Oblivious Naga 6 Jun, 2017 @ 11:11am
this is a great looking class but I thought it would bennefit more from stun gun than a combat knife
LeMarteau 6 Jun, 2017 @ 10:50am
This class looks real cool. I'll certainly give it a try! Great job!
Dreyfus0414 5 Jun, 2017 @ 2:48pm
Friendly last operator standing
James  [author] 5 Jun, 2017 @ 11:30am
File now updated with limited AWC config. For now I have added all the exceptions which I think the class needs to avoid clashes. I've also added Raptor, Lethal Force and No Prisoners to the AWC pool. If there are other abilties anyone would like to see added to the AWC then please let me know and i will work them in. I will be adding more at some point anyway but wanted the restrictions for the Operator up straight away.
James  [author] 5 Jun, 2017 @ 9:47am
Thank you for the kind words and the feedback Shiremct. Agreed on Hard Yards vs Lightning Reflexes. I may well make that swap particularly as I have an idea for another class where Hard Yards might fit more thematically as well.

AWC config was actually on my do list and I seem to have skipped it entirely! So yes you are right definitely some work to do there, thanks for the pointers which will help me get started. Glad you are enjoying the class and anymore feedback is welcome.
shiremct 5 Jun, 2017 @ 7:46am
I do have one suggestion on the abilities composition - Hard Yards is an ability I would never choose, even on a dedicated close combat specialist. There are a lot of ways to remove overwatches and this class itself can throw free flashbangs.

There are a few options here I would suggest, but the easy fix is to slot in Lightning Reflexes there instead... It fits thematically, is a good power match for the other abiliy choices at that tier, synergies with Bounding Fire, and would be useful on both breacher and hybrid builds.

Regardless, I'm really enjoying this class, thank you!
shiremct 5 Jun, 2017 @ 7:43am
I really like the look of this class: flexible, well themed, and looks pretty balanced at a glance. This will probably largely replace the assault class for me.

It does probably need some AWC configs though... I'm guessing sentry just gives the unit Cool Under Pressure and Covering Fire as additional abilities. If so, the AWC doesn't see that and will put them in the pool for this soldier. You'd have to manually restrict them to prevent doubling up on perks. Also, any abilities that give extra actions that haven't been setup to work with Breach and Clear should be restricted (like possibly Close Encounters, etc).
RamblinRichard 5 Jun, 2017 @ 4:14am
I will try out on my next game, but breach and clear looks like it would be really borked with chain lightning on assault, I think it really needs the reduce damage effect like reaper or serial. Or. Just gives a single extra action, that'd probablly be more difficult to abuse.
jack23011 4 Jun, 2017 @ 9:17pm
Interesting...beefed up Rangers & Shinobis; or what they could/should have been. Will try these when I finish this campaign.
PainFactory 4 Jun, 2017 @ 9:01pm
Look nice, i'll try on my next game.
Belhedler 4 Jun, 2017 @ 11:26am
What are the perks in the AWC poll? The class itself is not as intriguing as seing several of these perks in the AWC poll of another class. Yummy.
Pluvia 4 Jun, 2017 @ 2:31am
Wait, what perks are in AWC?
morgan mode 4 Jun, 2017 @ 1:33am
NOW, MORE THAN EVER, WE NEED A PATHFINDER.
Stray Inu 4 Jun, 2017 @ 12:10am
Voidmask, it has 3 skill trees so I would assume you either would need Long war 2 or Long war perk pack
AbyssalEden 3 Jun, 2017 @ 7:57pm
can I use this without having long war?
Pluvia 3 Jun, 2017 @ 5:07pm
To be honest this actually looks quite interesting.
