@CosmicFurFace Most likely you're using Ploppable RICO. As noted in the description above, these buildings come with RICO settings, which are set to be non-growable by default.

If you want these assets to be growable (and hence usable in building themes) when using RICO, you just need to make them growable via the checkbox in their RICO settings.
CosmicFurFace 26 febr. 2022 la 17:41
I'm seeing "not loaded" in theme manager for two groups of buildings. First try was to unsub/resub all the "shotgun" assets, but no luck. Maybe unsub/resub their assets as earlier recommended...? Anyone find a better solution yet?

I did a more thorough unsub/resub and did this for every missing building/set and the assets those were using and it seems to have solved the problem
Spellfork 22 aug. 2021 la 14:39
I've been using these fine buildings in my themes but they are now flagged as "not loaded" in the manager. I tried to unsub/resub to this but it didn't change anything. There are a couple of other buildings with this issue, so I will investigate further but thought I'd ask here if anyone knows what could be causing this?

If you Think About it is Better with Mods.

@m4gic just use plop the growables or rico to plop them at will. or use the make historical button.
m4gic 3 iul. 2020 la 12:38
I could always go into the asset editor and open a Shotgun home and increase the lot size to 4x4, but with just one home on that big lot it will make the city look ridiculous with tiny narrow homes far apart from each other instead of "packed" side by side.
m4gic 3 iul. 2020 la 12:37
Here's a request that may resolve this problem, if indeed it is related to the smaller lot sizes.

I do not have any modelling software, but I think you do judging by the many great assets you've put on the Workshop (thanks!).

Can you create a 4x4 level 1 low residential lot with 4 shotgun homes side by side on one lot? This might give the same "packed" look of 4 1x4 shotgun homes side by side in the city, while "fooling" the game into growing a 4x4 lot as a single Level 1 low density residence.

Does that make sense?

I have made several District Styles and only Bad Side of Town and Military Base have this issue.

With the others, any assets that belong to that Style do not disappear once the 2nd Milestone is reached and a District is made and assigned the Style.

Any buildings that are not in the Style do disappear, but not ones that grew in that area before it was a District with an assigned Style.

I am just absolutely confused as to why the Trailer Homes and Shotgun Houses disappear even though they ARE in the District Style I made....
m4gic 3 iul. 2020 la 12:30
As a test I removed the larger lots from the Style and started a new city. When I reached the second Milestone and could make a District I did so, and assigned it Bad Side of Town. When I zoned residential areas as normal (large amounts of squares covered in green zonining) no buildings except vanilla assets grew.

When I manually zoned 1x4 strips, touching no other residential zoned squares, the shotgun houses and trailer homes grew in the district -- but very, very slowly one by one. It was as if the game just did not want small homes to grow at all, like it was looking for larger lots to grow, first.
m4gic 3 iul. 2020 la 12:30
I do believe it is something to do with the small lot size, because the other style that is giving me problems is the Military Base style, and the residential buildings in that style (barracks) are also smaller lots, in that case 2x4.

I think the game prioritizes large lots, like 3x3, 3x4, 4x3, 4x4 over the smaller lots, and this is why the smaller lots assets disappear and won't re grow.

KingLeno  [autor] 3 iul. 2020 la 12:20
@m4gic i don't use the district styles, so i can't really help. but that's standard behavior. when you apply a district style, it's probably going to remove most of the buildings already placed. Building themes mod has much more control over what buildings spawn. But if you also use RICO, you need to search your computer or workshop folder for this number "944815848" and delete the RICO settings from that folder
m4gic 3 iul. 2020 la 10:13
On the page with my Style you can see several screenshots. Some have Shotgun Houses and Trailer Homes in the picture, and these are the areas where I had to let assets grow without a District Style, deleting vanilla and other unwanted homes until I had an area that was only Shotgun and Trailer homes.

I have made several other District Styles and their associated Collections, and this one and Military Base are the only ones giving me problems.

Does it have something to do with the smaller lot size for the Shotgun homes and Trailer homes? The game seems to prefer to spawn-in low residential of at least 2x3 or 3x3 size over 1x2, 1x4, 1x3, or 2x2, which is the lot size of most of these smaller homes.

Here is a link to my Style and on that page is a link to the Collection of all assets in that Style. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2151577952

District Style. I created one called "Bad Side of Town".

Until I have all Steam achievements I am trying to play with no mods.

The shotgun homes and trailer homes spawn in just fine in early game, but when I can make Districts and make one and assign the Bad Side of Town style I made, all of the shotgun homes and trailer homes disappear and are replaced by other level 1 low residential growables that are also in this Style I made.

I cannot figure out why this is happening.
KingLeno  [autor] 3 iul. 2020 la 10:06
@m4gic r u using district styles? Or building themes mod?
m4gic 2 iul. 2020 la 17:32
I love these houses - when I make a city they spawn easily. I made a Collection and a District Style called "Bad Side of Town" and these are in it.

When I apply the Style to a District any of these Shotgun Houses that had spawned there disappear, and none will regrow.

I cannot figure out why. Same with the 1x4 Trailer Homes made by someone else.

Do you know why?
cksteel 21 mai 2019 la 5:39
@KingLeno when i use Rico it just keeps giving me an error message
KingLeno  [autor] 20 mai 2019 la 16:50
@cadenklug6 the easiest way to fix it is to use RICO
cksteel 20 mai 2019 la 15:20
when i try placing one of these houses it builds but then it deletes its self. how do i fix this?

THANK YOU! im sick of having to go to space,or back in time, or an exotic (for me) location, whenever i want more assets. i mean, theyre all great, but real life is a neglected category i think.

I like these. :) I always wanted to have some little shoddy looking houses like these to pepper around my transitional areas and to mix in with smaller industry. Did you see the post about these types of homes being brought back in our FB group? I tagged you in it.

I like the new branding scheme :)

Wow...GREAT addition to the game. Shotgun houses are as much a part of the historical south as is the struggle of working people to live, work, educated their children! Some of the posters here do not realize that there was a HUGE post-war housing shortage, and people were glad to live in any house or apartment! My parents, both children of the Great Depression, lived in a house like this right after the war where they started a family and went to college under the G.I. Bill. Yeah, in some places shotgun houses are run-down, largely as a result of the plight of the cities in general, but in many towns and cities around where I live, many shotgun houses have been improved and remodeled as the cities gentrify. A number around here are evn historial sites and are preserved. I guess my point is that a house is just a structure; but what it ultimately becomes depends on the owner and the community. WE are masters of our destiny!

Thanks again for your EXCELLENT, REALISTIC buildings!

@Ĭ̶̡̊̋̓̈͛̈͌͛́̕͘͝ i've made low residential not ghetto, I've made a lot of different residential of different levels. but "not ghetto" but "low income" not "too small" etc, is being a bit picky.
Ĭ̶̡̊̋̓̈͛̈͌͛́̕͘͝ 13 iun. 2017 la 13:46
Could you make like a low residential housing area? not ghetto like this. I mean like typical low income housing, medium sized houses. Usually found in low income areas. The only thing that comes very close to it are Sub-houses in the workshop....but those are too small.

@craleigh70 there are plenty of shotgun houses in my area. These are designed to be rundown but not all shotgun houses are rundown. Some are actually pretty pricey, they are much more like smaller condos that are seperated.
craleigh70 12 iun. 2017 la 15:56
I don't want them shits in my game yo.
craleigh70 12 iun. 2017 la 15:54
If you know anything about them, you almost will want to refrain from adding them. They were common as far as I know on the east coast of the United States from post WWII to the Vietnam war era. You can find them in places that are no stranger to conflict in high densities from the South of Washington to New Orleans. The were cheap and easy to produce and mobile which made them a easy affordable option for fast growing post war innercity areas. Make no mistake if you are in an area where they still stand be on point because you are probably not in the nicest of areas. Man let me tell you if you know anything about them then you know what it is. They were kind of like an early modular home
craleigh70 12 iun. 2017 la 15:53
. The surviving units in the Boylan Heights section of Raleigh, North Carolina were and still are not nice. There aint nothing nice about it. Luckly I have been fortunate enough not to have to live in one and if force to I would probably choose outside because if you live in one you probably are not far from the street anyway. Most of the surviving units that I am aware of were demolished or refurbished in the late 90's in my area and replaced. Yet and still the neighborhoods the once occupied are still not the softest parts of town.
craleigh70 12 iun. 2017 la 15:40
I will comeback for them later.
