I've not had success in getting the old files for their villages, and I've not been able to make recreations and get them working properly in-game either.

I started working on it, critter catching station and spirit anvil both crash the game, a lot of remaining code from beta starbound, but this is doable

That would certainly be welcome. As of right now it's mostly functional with all the data available in the only download of the original I can find. I forget which crafting station still needs to be worked on as I have not touched this project in a while.

no clue why or what happened, but this mod started despawning (i.e. auto-killing) my merchants or freezing them (highlighted but could not interact). No clue why, I run alot of mods so it could be alot of things on my end. Posting this in case someone else is facing similar issues.

As a avid fan of this race and someone who really loved these kobolds, I can't wait to see what you do to update them now they are working! I really loved their cuteness what with their god Ar-En-Gee. XD

Dude, are you sure you've checked the version history page of the original mod? Cause I was able to download older versions up to 0.71, and they have villages there.
Though I assume your attempt at reviving this mod is also dead at this point. Too bad!

@renton The Wanker The Kobolds don't have villages at this time. The version I have to work with is the release version or first update given to the kobolds so I need to remake the villages for them. I haven't taken the time to do that yet but I will some time in the near future.

Would you happen to know if Frackin' Universe would affect the kobold village spawn rate? Been searching for hours for a village to recruit from.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the inactivity on this mod! I've been cleaning up the code for the most part and updating everything to use the latest coding methods in starbound. With that being said you can expect an update soon*.

* No idea if it could be done in a few minutes, hours or even a month.

Since they are a tribalistic race, it may be an idea to ask the creator of the Avikan Race (aka Elithian Alliance mod) for either ideas (items made of bone, or see if afew thigns can be integrated. As for the Matter Manipulator, the original idea of the Axe is a great idea, if there is a way to "skip" the begining quest, or make it part of its own quest for the Kobold.
