I think this should be an lockpicking skill that you need 40 skill for.

I say it looks realistic, can't imagine the person having to handcraft thousands of those. Etching in so many lines, one at a time.

Hey Monty i have recently got back into Skyrim & i love this mod but i was wondering if you could put it on the Nexus as im not a fan of the way steam handles Mods

They DID have copper and bronze in the age that skyrim emulates, so, it is kind of lore-friendly... I actually like it in the coppery/bronze-ish look.

Could you make one in Iron? To make it even more lore friendly?

Although I have a question/suggsetion... for Master locks, to keep some of the difficulty could the mod be rigged to only have the 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 0 listed?

Personally I was expecting more from the lockpicking mini game. Three basic tricks that were not employed. I'll pop these up as a suggestion but I find your mod will likely solve my frustration with master locks by fixing the #1 problem.

1, marking the last spot your pick was.
2, the little arrows or dashes on the left of the lock could represent the tumblers falling into place (switching between directions/positions until they all line up). I recently decided that the audio for the locks doesn't really match up to anything at all.
3, the ability to attempt to cut the lock out of the chest or force the chest open (destroying it) for fighters (a different mini game where you could occasionally break your weapon, with lock difficuly changing up the leverage needed in the second mini-game).

That said. I play with a self imposed rule of 10 tries - after that I figure I've probably broken the lock unless it's a quest chest.

I don't see this type of mod as a cheat, any self respecting theif would have something to help make lock picking take less time
(more time spent crouched at someones front door is more time for a wandering guard to spot you)

Also I use a lot more of your mods and they are great. I wish some of your mods were less dark though. I would really love to use the Mary J mod, but I never play a really dark character. I would have loved it if you had made an alternate version as some kind of Morag Tong hideout as they aren't really evil they just do contract stuff and I miss that orginization from Morrowwind. I hate that in both Elder Scroll 4 and 5 they traded up the wetwork group for such a seriously evil group. Now I feel pretty evil by doing those quests and even though I would never skip them, because you miss out on such a large piece of the game. Destroying them has virtually no pay off. With the Morag Tong both a good and bad character could play without the good players feeling quite so Shi@@y about what they were doing (like killing the crazy guy in Ivarstead and then them being all super proud of what you did) With the Tong it was more necessity than pleasure.

Honestly why would anyone think this is some kind of cheat?? Is it so unrealistic to think a super smart mage/scholar could come up with a design for a combination lock that has a keyed back up? There would be a vast amount of scholars all over the planet of Nirn as reading and designing are some of the only things to do without video games and TV :-) As far as I'm concerned it's a great mod and you should be commended for it; not hounded by retards who think it is some kind of cheat. Don't think of this as a cheat mod you created, because it is not. It is an improvement mod! You just improved on one of Bethesda's many "plain jane" low imaginitive designs. Thanks!

@Chipnip unbreakable lockpicks are stupid. Master locks take only a few picks anyway, so that's just wasted perks.

Thank you, perfect! I didn't want to use Lockpick Pro, as that is just TOO much of a cheat showing you exactly where the sweet spot is, and unlocking anything with a single lockpick. Thank you!

@chipnip really? its great that its "worthless" to you, but to others, its great, thanks uploader!

Dgen Szn ツ 6 Jan, 2013 @ 9:55pm
hey this mod is worthless do some work get lvl 100 lockpicking then get the unbreakable perk so lock picks never break
MontyX  [author] 2 Nov, 2012 @ 9:42pm
Also it works with the skyrim update version 1.8.
MontyX  [author] 2 Nov, 2012 @ 9:38pm
Ok it has been updated, & it works with my game. So enjoy.
You may need to delete the MXLocksmith2.esp & MXLocksmith2.bsa from your Data files, & redownload this mod if it still doesn't work.
MontyX  [author] 2 Nov, 2012 @ 9:00pm
Yes, I am going to work on this soon. I will recreate the bsa files. & see if it fixes it.
Spaceman Spiff 2 Nov, 2012 @ 5:23pm
+1 for not working. It looks like a really good idea though, the screenshots look really nice on both versions. I'll keep checking back to see if you update. Good luck!
