Operator's Earpiece V2

In 1 collection by Astute
"Observer" Spy Set SFM Assets
12 items
Description
This is the SFM version of my TF2 workshop submission: The "Operator's Earpiece"

It's a old school hands-free headphone for the Spy's left ear. It's styled after retro earpieces used in spy/action movies with Secret Service, FBI, or general G-Men types. Like most misc items, it supports painting.

Notes

-Utilizes $alphatest in its material for the cord wrapping effect. This may cause abnormal behavior when using $cloakfactor.

-Paintable

"General G-Men types."

@Alice, I actually ran into the issue when I was testing it initially. If you look at the material files, it should have a flag for ticking ambient occlusion on and off. By itself, the AO bleeding is very evident, but when close to the Spy's neck, this issue is practically nonexistant(or so I thought). I opted to leave the ambient occlusion ticked on for release.

But you do have a point, there are still scenarios where AO will still bleed through. I'll push out a change to tick the ambient occlusion off by default. If anyone wants it back, just renable it in the material files.

Alternatively, you can also turn off phong if you want both transparency and AO.

Done and fixed it :) Thanks. (Isn't there a way for you to fix it though, so it works by default in SFM?)

@Alice, this is likely due to the SSAO ambient occlusion in SFM. You could try disabling alphatest via Override Materials, and instead add $transparent to the model's materials. Adding $BaseAlphaPhongMask might also have some effect on AO/Transparency.

Great model, but it's transparent for me :(
