Just credit the original maker.
But make sure you update it first because it will not work or it will break the game if not then.
Step1: I downloaded the script file that would allow cannons to fire at max range online. Someone already made the Mod but didn't add it to the Steam Workshop.
Step 2: I went to the Mod folder for Cossacks 3 and pasted the script file there.
Step 3: I went to the Mod Manger that can be launched from opening the game and enabled the Mod from there.
I'm very new to making Mods so I would be happy for any help.
Check the files and check the files those files are "replacing" when the mod is in use, MOST of the code needs to be up to date in order for the mod to work so what I'd usually do to update my mod is take the vanilla file from the game, which is the most up to date one, and copy paste the code edits from my modded files into the updated file.
Sorry if I'm not much of a help but I'm very low on free time now so you will have to figure it out for yourself if nobody else is willing to help you.
Cheers and good luck.
It's up to you really, nobody is forcing you to do anything.
But I've found from experience that if you really want something there's nothing better or faster than doing it yourself.
For example, I wanted wallpapers from the first episode of season 5 of Samurai Jack, so I made them myself instead of waiting for someone else, sure they're not in 2k hi-resolution but they're still good, and I'm proud I made them.
I'll shoot you an invite to our modding group, maybe you can find someone to help you there.
Actually, I even think the person who made the mod is in the group but he hasn't been much active.
I know it's a bit off topic but i'm a fan of Samurai Jack myself. I was somewhat sad the final season recently ended but, at the same time, i'm very happy they decided to give closure to the Samurai Jack series. I also applaud their decision to make it mature rated since it gives them more freedom to express their ideas and thoughts. Your poster must be really cool! I hope to get one someday.
Thanks for the modding group invite! I did accept and I looked at the threads. Some of them are really unique and fascinating. I could learn a thing or two just by looking through the threads. I did also see Striker JK who is the author of the auto cannon mod. Hopefully, I can get some help from any of them.
It's just that the Very Hard AI will blast me with cannons in the late game and my cannons just sit there waiting for me to click on them. I would very much like the Mod but I can live without it. Thank you so much for helping me!
Yes haha, here's my album of my screenshots from episode 1: http://imgur.com/a/up7kJ like I said they're not much but I've made them/taken them so yeah...
Another person did Episodes 2 and 3 in much higher quality, but I'm still glad I did it.
It's just something about his black samurai armor I just love.
And I'd love for some hi-res screenshots of the Spartans from episode 10.
And yes Striker, he sadly hasn't been much active.
The main problem for many modders, including myself, is the breaking of mods almost every single update, since you don't know what's broken or what's changed you're left wondering for a lot of time, and sometimes you need to start off fresh which can take more or less time, depending on a lot of things.
Like I said, good luck and cheers in your future modding adventures, I'll be restricting myself for the time being on gameplay changing mods and will focus more on cosmetic such, but I'm mostly waiting on American Conquest 2 haha.
Feel free to add me if you have any further questions if nobody else is willing or free, I have some free time after work so I might be able to answer a few of your questions then.
Have a nice day.
I haven't thought about it but your explanation does make sense. It must be a nightmare to constantly update mods after every game update. It may simply not be worth the time just to add a few tweaks here and there.
I do hope to become better at modding in the future. It's a really nice skill to analyze code and make certain changes. Having discussions with other modders would help me a lot. Also, I love American Conquest! I had the orginial game on a disk and played it some time back. Personally, I really like the sounctrack to that game. I know it's a bit of an old school type of game but those are the most memorable in my opinion.
I would most certainly like to add you. I'm sure to have some questions in the future and would be very thankful for any help. Thank you so much for the help you have given me and the perspective of how modders must go about making constant changes.
Thanks and please have a very nice day too!
