For the record, I tested the new scenario with "Harsh Winter" enabled, and almost lost both Katia and Anton in the very first week. I had to spend all my food on them to keep them alive (barely), leaving Liam(Marko) starving and unable to run. Not the greatest idea I admit.
Let the hunger games begin!
Gonna take a break before testing the scenario, but it should be here by the end of the week

24/02 Edit: Or maybe not this week, I barely started testing the new scenario, dunno when I will finish it (new "scarcer resources" mechanic drives me insane, I had to tweak a few things before playing for real). On the bright side, you now have more time to actually play them xD
Instead, the new update will bring a lot of fixes, especially since the mod wasn't updated since its release. Ported a lot of things from "Endless War", like the kid bug making them join just a few days apart, and now they actually don't get depressed over a minor injury (game bug).
I streamlined both "Endless War" and "Survival". They will now both have the exact same gameplay features, just different scenarios. Makes it easier for me to update them (also in case of new game update/dlc
First major update is here, bringing lot of fixes to make sure both scenarios work as planned.
I’ll try and update the mod on a two weeks basis from now on, or at least as long as I’m still working on new features...Starting next week with a full portrait overhaul. (Most of them still have black ink drops on them, so I try to remedy that. It’s a very easy fix, but there’s still a lot of them)
Next will be the third scenario featuring full winter and scarcer resources, and I plan to release another small mod at the same time, adding more challenge for all default scenarios.
Since current tools don’t allow having more than two scenarios at a time, I'm gonna have to separate the mod in two parts in the future. Good news is, this makes it possible for me to add my all-time favorite character to the game, 'Ethan' (or “male#8 from scenario editor”, but that’s an awfully long name). Hard choice between the two main characters, as they will both replace Marko, hands down the real best character (with Pavle of course).
Stay tuned !
Next scenarios won't have children, they'll be hard enough without (but a few of them may still join the shelter mid-game).
Edit: Everything else you said is encouraging, this is exactly what I want, meds hard to come by, longer build up, etc... I balanced it so you never have too much of anything.
And by taking the boat by day 35, you only missed like one or two weeks. I try not to make longer scenarios, because once you are settled with a garden and everything, there is not much challenge. Although, if anyone wanna play longer, then "Endless War" covers that xD

02/03 Edit:
All portraits except most custom characters have been edited, they look much better now. No more black ink or anything , here's a little comparison: http://imgur.com/a/Y6TlF
Speaking of which, the new characters fits really well imo, I wonder why they never made any of them playable with The Littles Ones dlc. And by the way, I've been playing them in scenario editor since they released the modding tools, so the names I gave them kinda stuck, never easy to name a character just based on their face and backstory.
Looking through an older build of the game, I found another Ethan's portrait (that's the third counting the one where he wears glasses). I'll use it for his picture and update all screenshots by the same occasion today.
Damn I love this game. That last playthrough I did was just crazy, even more than Liam's.
I finally figured out how "disappearing loot piles" works, but instead of keeping it for late-game, like it does normally, I made it happen right from the start, since you're starting in winter and all. Everything is tied on how the conflict is going e.g. the heavier the conflict, the more people get desperate and become thieves or looters, and that means less loot around the city. I like this mechanic, makes the game feel more "real".
I also found out you can make "double" visit, meaning two people joining you at the same time, a bit like children joining along their parents in TLO. Both mechanics work very well and make it the most tedious and enjoyable scenario so far.
Only one story left, with Roman, but i don't think I'll test it before a while, so I'll just release it as is. The difficulty might be off a little, but hey, you got Roman, everything should be fine xD

09/03 Edit:
My work is mostly done now, thanks to everyone for following me this last month, it was very fun. You can be sure I'll continue to support this mod as far as I can. Here's the info on the new scenarios if anyone missed it, it'll be released in just two days from now :
"Survival: Second Chapter", two exclusives scenarios and another new character :
- Third scenario, with Damian/Bruno and Boris. Winter only, heavy conflict. You will need all your skills to make it through this interminable winter. But you ain't the only ones sharing the same fate. Civilians, rebels, soldiers, everyone is desperate to survive.
- I rarely ever play with Roman, it's time to change that! As Roman/Dimitr (solo), you are not afraid to steal or kill to survive... But you are a deserter, and as such, no one will be there to help you in return. You'll have to rely on yourself alone.
Got back into the game already, it was a very small break lol
I'm testing different things to add to the mod, here's the list so far (31/03 Edit: now complete):
Also tweaked shelter attacks in "Dimitr solo", especially early game. It was too punishing for anyone trying to make it without hiding supplies. Remember you can make a secret stash somewhere, no need to stock everything inside the shelter unless you can defend it.

28/03 Edit: Finished playing my latest scenario, lost Dimitr in the last weeks to depression, but other than that, difficulty wasn't too bad. Using "Just look at' em" and "Harsh Winter", Dimitr only got seriously wounded twice I think. And that may be because I tweaked enemies health and running speed a bit, just for fun
Real problem was resources, not being able to recruit Boris or Marko is seriously handicapping, I struggled to upgrade anything. Luckily you get enough things to trade to compensate the lack of materials.
An update will be released this week. I'm doing another run before that. With someone else than Dimitr so I can properly test the changes done to depression/fatigue.
P.S I find it funny that the "Immersive mode" was one of the first things I wanted to implement, and I only found a way to make it work a few days ago. It is now the best feature imo. Not being able to see where enemies are makes a huge difference to the overall eperience of the game.
By the way, I highly recommend you to check out "Just Look at 'em", it takes things even further by disabling all hints about your character's current state. I usually play with this mod, "Harsher Winter" and "Music". Perfect when you want to keep the gameplay mostly intact.
The mod has been released for quite some time now, and thanks to your support reached 1500+ suscribers, which is a lot more than I hoped when I started making this mod. It was only supposed to be one scenario at that time, and I wasn't even sure to release it publicly. Now it's so much more and I'm really happy how it turned out and how well it was received so far.
---
I figured it's time I give more details about each scenario. Beware, SPOILERS AHEAD:
- "Zlata, Arica, Kalina": first attempt at making a new scenario. It isn't much different from the one it replaces "Zlata, Emilia, Kalina". I just made it more challenging by making the winter longer and shelter attacks more frequent. Here's how every scenario I make looks like before I mod them into the game:
- "Liam, Katia, Anton": first real scenario made from scratch, and personal favorite of mine. The idea was to make Liam the main character. Just one man, trying to save other people survive the war. The first weeks are quite tedious, starting right before winter, and then having the outbreak soon after. Everything was done to make the scenario very challenging for anyone else than Liam/Marko. You know, being the best scavenger and all. Of course it's possible to make it without him, but I'm sure you would miss him if he wasn't here for some reason.
- "Damian, Boris": the idea here was to make a scenario with winter lasting the whole game. The army is pushing hard, but the rebels are still holding out. Looters are everywhere, and, because of that, resources are very scarce. You have the best characters right from the start but even that is not enough to make it through unscathed. Crazy scenario, never struggled so much even though I had both Marin, Boris, Bruno and Marko at the same time.
- "Dimitr (solo)": this is an odd one. I don't like playing agressive, but I'm sure a lot of people do. This scenario is for them. All locations are the ones you might expect to have the most "bad guys" to kill.. and also civilians if that's your thing xD In counterpart, I made sure nobody wants to help you, so no shelter trader, no hospital, and only a few characters can join you. Trust me, you wouldn't want Boris or Marko for this game, they would be dead from depression in no time...
And that's all the scenarios I made so far. As you can see, they are quite varied, and I'm not sure what I could do next. If I ever want to make new ones...
