When the puzzle reaches 25x25, depending on the number of clues in each row and column, the validator can take over a minute. And it gets exponentially worse from there to the point where it isn't really viable.
I'm not sure how I would be able to optimize it, but it is potentially a possibility.
I think the main issue with the 25x25 validation in particular (although it applies to smaller grids as well) is that, if you're not following a picture you've already made, depending how much validates, you can be left with very little of your original attempt to work from. It might be helpful (more prolific design submitters than I would be able to offer more weight to that, or not!) if the invalid entries were highlighted in a different colour?
