TBH, your request for all-in-one merchant is not hard but it would take a bit of effort to do. Don't limit yourself on your ideas, please go ahead and post your complex enchanting concept.
I was thinking about an all-in one enchanter that could enchant, make sockets, on items
I also tought a way of recycling gems and such: there would be an option to break gems down into something like "Raw ember dust" that could be used to upgrade gems to their next tier or use them for example making new sockets. In a small menu you could select an option to break the gem into ember dust (and there could be a recipie to combine emberdust into higher grade ember dust at the alchemist)
In another option you could use the gathered ember dust to slot along with a gem of your choosing and upgrade that gem to its next tier. This would allow a sort of Waste-not-Want-not thing im quite fond of (i liked the minecraft EE mod can you tell?)
There are many limitation on what we can modify in TL2 but that doesn't mean we cannot make it appear like we wanted to. For instance, the "Raw Ember Dust" could still be possible if we allow a certain ingredient to break down gems. Or a recipe for 1 gem can result to 2 lesser gems. We can call this process as "Reverse Transmutation" or something like that.
All-in-one enchanter to enchant/save gem/save equipment/transmute seems possible, I don't know why no one thought about it before. See image for proof {LINK REMOVED}https://snag.gy/iq89mC.jpg
About HackNSlash, if you think this mod's pets deserves a remod than xev's, can you upload somewhere your file of that so that I can gain access on it?
I can try upload the pet pack thing from drop box if that's okay.
Well the character could work like a special alchemist which has its own set of recipies and such for breaking down-upgrading gems as well a way to put new sockets into weapons =i
will this work?
Try linking back here with a comment on one of Doudley's mods... it's possible he forgot to subscribe to this discussion and didn't get notified.
Doudley tends to be busy and yet responds to every question I've seen so try asking him more directly on his profile or mods.
And yes that's the mod, its just you i don't need the playable boss monster bits =i
The interesting bit was the ability to have the pet monsters that actually retain their skill set. As for the Hack-n-Slash pet pack i think there's just too many merchant selling all the available pet items and it would be nice if there would be just one selling only a few random ones with only exception for a constant would be the item that returns the pet to its original form.
Thanks so far
anyway i try to provide with small bits and pieces woz-i-think would be handy in a mod =i
Main issue is, the pets on both mods are way too many to manage for a single modder.
Technical issue is, the implementation of the all-in-one merchant that sells random stocks of pet transformations. Either I create a new unittype (its like a hashtag) to allow filtering of these custom pets but that means I have to recode each pets for it or I create a merchant spawnclass and include each and every pet transformation available then make a new spawnclass that will randomize that.
My proposal is, I'll incorporate those two mods to this planned pet expansion mod, there's also a request for a remod of pet shop, so I'll incorporate that system too. By this way, I'll hit 3 birds in 1 stone. But the projects completion would take weeks or months (depending on my availability of course), although I'm sure I will work on it until its published.
The pet expansion mod will be created on my own vision of the pets, so expect it to be unique on its own way.
Here's my draft of what to expect:
I think this project will be my ultimate contribution to the community. I think it will serve as an essential piece on why TL2 is above other dungeon crawling genre and why TL2 pet system is a game changer.
Anyone who's interested are free to join me on this quest, my head has already some of the technicalities worked out, so it's not going to be an impossibility that's for sure! :D
My tought would have been just use a merchant that sells the basic fish you can get from the vanilla game along with collars and pet tags (1 to 4 ratio in favor of pet inventory items)
but i take your proposal as it is (sadly my knowledge on limitation on the game's modability is near to none =/)
Regardless this will allow more use and flexibility of pets aside from passive spell casting and using them as loot buckaroo
One last tought and this is not important just spitballing: Would it be possible to add alchemist recipies to fuse smaller fishes into larger ones (in example: combinging four 5-min duration fish into a 15 min duration one or same amount 15-min duration into a pernament one)
just a tought
anyway
thanks =)
Wait, so you are saying that its okay to load up any fishes (even the vanilla ones) into a single merchant? If so then I think I can manage your request after all.
Because I previously assumed that you only want the new and custom fishes to be sold by the merchant...
2-or-3 different type same time-class fish would make 1 new type of fish of same time-class
4 same type and time fish would make 1 higher time grade fish of same (or random) type
combining 4 pernament fish would give you a very unique fish that you could use to turn your pet into a very powerful monster (like an ordraake or mini alchemist what-have-you) but only for a five minutes timer
Yes the basic concept was to have a vanilla fish monger that also sells pet "armor". But your addition are not bad either.
