Workshop suggestions: What do you need to make your skins better?
Hello, Rex here!

So I've noticed their's a lot of features Paydays workshop needs to greatly help with skin development if you have any ideas feel free to suggest something here and I'll collect suggestions and hand them over to the overkill staff and see what can be done.

Now first thing I'm going to say almost everyone here who makes skins has used the Apply Your Skins Design mod.
A way to use your skin in game will be the top suggestion Ill be handing in so no need to make that comment.

- Better/more zoom
- hide parts, for example hide the body of a pistol to only see the magazin
- a complete 360° view from all sides of the weapon
- no blue filter in the screenshots menu
- a way to apply skins ingame, as already mentioned

I think that is something you gotta do while making the sticker itself.

Actaully, funny thing... the Tatonka mag maps in a way that pretty much mirrors in some places. sadly to change that for older skins would require them to remake a lot of parts and some skins so its unlikely old weapons will follow the same rules as the newer ones.

Fix the sliders for scale etc etc. For example if I want to scale a pattern to 2.10 and decide to go back to 1.00 I have to stick with 1.02 or else I have to clear everything in total. Or maybe a reset button for the specific part you are working at.
For the wear slider I was wondering why you can go down to let's say 0.55 or 0.23 if there are only 5 established conditions (mind etc) with their particular values. So maybe they could change it to those values or make 5 buttons for the different conditions and maybe a option for a free scale if anybody wants to show how his/her weapon looks at 0.00 ...

Not exactly understanding what you mean with this suggestion, able to clarify? I know without a mod rightclick will reset the bar youre hovering over, and removing the pattern/sticker, backing up a page and then readding the sticker will reset that part to default.

Maps for weapons, the Bizon follows its textures (mostly, the ironsights are a bit broken) but many other guns do not (or at least used it but was then changed)
Being able to 1:1 follow textures is a god send for people who make skins that cover the entire parts.
It takes hours finding where stickers/patterns end up but if overkill just provide a cheat sheet...

This whole skin only took 5hrs so far (of solid work, not started and counted lunch dinner)

  • 1:1 weapon textures, which we can use to draw our designs on and later apply to a weapon; a close example of this would be the Bizon.

  • an easier color management method, i would like to use more than 3-4 colors at any given time + shades of colors to give my designs more depth and quality. If there is a way to do this now, make an in-depth tutorial.

  • Real time changes with direct visual feedback -- a plugin for photoshop or gimp (think Zbrush).
    A feature such as this would help imennsly. I know it's a lot to ask, but if it's possible, please do it; (if this is implemented, the need for 1:1 textures will drastically sink or straight up disappear from my list).

  • a new folder exclusively for .psd files and the equivalent of gimp save state files (mainly for devs to look at if needed).

  • a more thorough inspect feature in the game itself; there are quite a few blind spots.

  • a neutral light source in the workshop and in the screenshot hub.

  • less restrictions in general.

multiple layers of the stickers and option to keep original stickers at the vanilla skin (ex: sticker at military laser module, LED combo)

ability to place more stickers on a part

Something like cinema 3D/4D where you can load your weapon with the skin and create screenshots from it. (Would be a background. But you can choose where the weapon is) Like this: https://puu.sh/uXZFs/cf8841ece7.png

Some more suggestions (so I dont forget later)
-Disable mipmaps on CC textures (long story but it causes lower quality skins at an angle) for first person or at least in the workshop editor
-Allow a testing week for skin makers to find bugs with new weapons, once a skin has been made for it and turns out their is a mistake it gets harder to fix, a testing week will help greatly.
perfect rotations of the weapon itself, so you can preview the weapon in like perfect 180° view from the normal position
Please give higher priority to people who have never had a skin added to the game over people who already have their skins added when deciding on which skins to add to the next safe
