How exactly do I update mods?
I am trying to update an old mod of mine. I don't have the original on my HDD anymore so I copy the files by subscribing to my own mod. I then update and upload the mod but it registers as a new mod and not an update. Is there now way to update a mod without having the original files?

Bump.

So you don't possess the original files? So are you updating the first mod by creating a second mod which adds to the original? I may have a solution IF this is the case.

I'm quite confused as to the situation otherwise.

Yes for example I have a new version that has the downloaded files and adds one more edited xml. BTW this happens even if I just change modpreview.jpg.

Not sure to what extent this will help, but you can retrieve the original mod files by going to C:\Users\[Your name]\AppData\Local\Robot Entertainment\OMD2\SubscribedMods, finding your mod ID and just copying the files. The config file gives basic information such as the original title name as well.

I kind of regret posting this because it does enable people to copy others' content so i ask that anyone reading this uses this responsibly. Please do not copy other people's addons. I don't know whether this method is common knowledge or not.

Perhaps if the mod launcher recognizes that the mod files are completely identical then it will accept the mod as an update and not a new mod.

if all else fails then just repost the mod - you won't be the first one to do it. The OMD2 workshop is so disorganized and poor quality that a repost is hardly a complaint.
