I tell you why I took them down. Someone was very unpleased with what I did and I thought about it for a moment. I came to the conclusion that he was right, that I was basically spitting on Croteams fantastic work. Didn't want that. Sounds overly dramatic, but I love no game more than Serious Sam.
Even though the weapons (most Test 1 and all Test 2 weapons) worked fine, I decided to wipe all of my workshop items, to prevent the reason from above from happening again.
There's actually an even deeper reason for the removal, but this is stuff for another time.
After some time I uploaded all the Test weapons and my finished Alpha skins for myself on the workshop again. The Test 1 weapons are in one pack now, instead of being seperated from eachother. The only weapons not working correctly there are the Minigun and the Ghostbuster.
These two weapons must resort to using their final animations.
The Test 2 weapons all work as intended and are in one complete package now.
I could make it public right now!
The Alpha weapons.... the whole idea behind this was as following: I've wanted to know how the weapons would look like in the hands of final release Sam. This meant a Skin pack and NOT the weapons with their original animations and Sams Alpha hands. Ok, the Rocket launcher and the Lasergun (nearly) work just like in the Alpha. However, the Grenade Launcher is just broken (but playable!). I even replaced the Plasmathrower with the Lava Rocks gun from Zdzichus Alpha remake.
I'm thinking of remaking the animations for the alpha weapons so that they work in revolution, but I don't have the time for that right now due to incoming life changes and because I've also started working on a comic.
I do regret taking the weapons down and I would love to upload them again, so that everyone who enjoyed them can play with them again, but I'm unsure of doing it.
Nukebox, do you really want to see them again?
I don't think the community would enjoy them. I mean, each of the weapons had only about 2 or 3 subscribers and about 190-230 views. That's probably because the Alpha weapons were just skins and not the whole true thing and the Test weapons were just more primitive versions of the final weapons...
But, since you would like to see them again, I make you an offer.
How about I send you a friend request? This would allow you to download the weapons so
only you could play with them. Maybe even make a backup of them, in case I should delete them again. You could modify them to your liking, you even could re-upload them to the workshop.
What do you think of it?
I can always explain it to you, but now I will send you a friend invite.
