Remove bounding boxes on new buildings and scenery
Something that I find odd is that we can explore the area around existing buildings, wander in the gardens and parks of the game but not around those that we've erected. The same goes for areas in the country side like the back of gravel pit. Looks like a nice walk except you hit an invisible wall and we shall not pass. Is this something that can be removed with a mod or is this a hard coded limitation of the game?

Bounding boxes around new buildings are used for better game performance. Collision detection is horribly CPU-intensive. During construction each element has its own collider, but this slows down the game. If this was kept for every new building, the game would slow down to a crawl.

Even with this trick, each new building is a burden, which is why there is a startup parameter that lets you reset them to their default state. I use this often, because I never go back to buildings I've finished anyway.

Same goes for off-limit areas: in these areas there is no collision detection on the ground, rocks and trees. Also, the devs didn't want to spend time finishing areas that aren't used in the game. I have written missions that let you go there, but you have to set solid items to act as a floor, otherwise you just fall down through the ground.
