Is a Free For All Map Possible?
I'd like to try making a free for all map, but has anyone experimented to see if that type of scenario is possible? I assume it would just take splitting the players into 6 teams and giving each the necessary assets for their own teams, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I've never played an RTS without FFA. This game seems very limited. Good luck.

I assume it is possible as in the campaign we see missions where there are three different teams, but as for how I have no idea.

I have only just begun getting my head around making mods. I hope to make this a reality. I will let you know how I go and if there is a possibility. PS don't expect an answer soon though as I have to learn how to use it first and am a busy person.

I was looking at the "Spear of Khaine" campaign mission where you play as Gorgutz / the orks and face off against the Space Marines and Eldar in a 3-way FFA. It looks like the teams are readjusted in external files (the options file, iirc).

Theoretically, if someone were to copy the team assignment scripts from that (or another like) options file and plug it into the options file of their own map, you should be able to get FFA teams. However, if you set more than two teams on the actual map's scenario properties section, you will not be able to start the map in-game, so there's no telling how the map will handle the added lines of script under the multiplayer code. Never got around to trying it out myself.

I don't know where to look to find the campaign maps, and that's assuming I'd even have a clue as to how to get stuff working. I imagine in terms of how the game takes it, it probably sees them as being on the same team in the lobby then in game makes them opponents, or something like that.

Find campaign maps using the mod toold archive viewer and you will find them in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War III\DoW3\archives

Maps are located in:
ScenariosSP
ScenariosMP
And win conditions:
Data

Alright, I might take a look at some point. Probably will finish my 3v3 map - I feel kinda happy with how the texturing is looking, but I've not applied it to all the map.

I just created a coopcampaign win conditions mod last night. Now when i have time im going to alter one of the mission maps for 2 players then save under new name.

Also I believe it is possible to create a FFA mode. Game setup would show 2 team like normal but in game it will be FFA

You will learn heaps of new techniques an design ideas looking at the official maps texturing and object layering

Whenever I look at the official maps I just think "omg i suck so bad" xD Doubt I'll get that good, but as long as I make something I'm content with, it's all good.

Yeah they use so many objects all neatly stacked placed and coordinated together to fit the theme.
The 2v2 map im working on has received some improvements since learning how to use tge splines
Sokite 18 10 Nov, 2017 @ 8:21am
OneProduct did some looking at splines and I was planning on using them in my next map. If you get the hang of them they can be very useful. I like how we've kinda turned this discussion into our own little conversation... Sorry about that xD

It would be a lot easier if they had the game mode in place to start with but aside from somehow making spawn location = assign team script somehow I wouldn't know.

Funny that you brought this thread back because I was thinking about it 2 minutes ago xD
While I was thinking of trying to make it myself, I already hardly get around to mapmaking as it is as a student, so I doubt I'd have the time (or energy) to put into learning SCAR and making the game mode. That said, if you had an understanding of SCAR or time to learn it I imagine it shouldn't be TOO difficult - you'd probably have to set all players to be hostile to eachother, then set the win condition to be a team wins if only one player has structures left. That said, it would probably still count it as there being two teams overall, so it would say that those who were on the winner's starting team all won, plus I feel like AI wouldn't work well with it as you'd probably need to be able to tell them to attack those who were on their starting team - assuming that's possible. Anyway, anybody who feels like they can do it, feel free to, since I'm unlikely to manage it but I might give it a shot. I'd gladly make maps that fit FFA, in fact I'm already planning a couple of fitting remakes... It'll take a long time to get around to them though, I'm hardly touching WorldBuilder at the moment and I want to take the time to make my maps look good from now on.
