Feathered Raptor wings in 3DCoat
So, while following a tutorial for dino skins (for a dilo, though, so my question remains unanswered), I came across a certain.. discrepancy? while uploading the textures.

I don't really know how to explain it, so how about a screenshot of the thing itself[prntscr.com]?

Basically, I guess the transparency that the feathers require don't apply to 3Dcoat and as such, the model still shines through.

Will this interfere with adding the feathers on in the future (eg. they look like the screenshot above, just.. colored) or is it something to be disregarded? Thanks for any responses.

The feather masks that determine opacity are a separate texture, independent from the base colour. It won't matter at all if you end up going "outside the lines" when making your skin.

If you hunt around there's probably a way to set up 3D Coat to use a mask the way materials in-game do, in order to get a more accurate preview, but I haven't used that particular program before so can't really say.

Alright, thank you for answering! I'll have to snoop around and mess with settings to see what works.
