You can do that via ini settings in Ark, possibly... no guarantee... but those same settings may work in here. A lot of the same ini settings work, but not all.

from 5% grown onwards, they can use the feeding troughs.

If you are on a private server, just have the nursery a good 100-150m from main operations. they dont consume food when they arent loaded.

with imprinting, set an alarm on something and go do stuff away from it, just dopnmt go near it or make sure you farm lots of meat for the trough

Put it in, change it, save it, make write protection on the game.ini (That the game cantoverwrite the options) :)
