How to make Automation Fixture, Rim and Body Mods by a Developer
Hey there! want to make mods for Automation? Want to learn from someone who's made most of the vanilla fixtures and rims, and over 300 car bodies? Well check out my video series on the subject.

I'll start you off with the fixture series, which is where you should start if you don't have any 3D modeling, or modding experience.

Once you've whacked out a few fixture mods, you might be ready to tackle car bodies, but they aren't for the impatient. It still takes me about 2 weeks to put together a new car body and all it's variants, and I'm a professional. No really, they pay me to do this stuff!

Anyway, if you have questions, you can usually find me on the official Automation Discord server, or you can just ask in the YouTube comments.

This is great. I hope i could make some mods with this, if i can translate this in my head, cause english is not my nativ language :)

By the way, you´ve made some numberplates a few months ago, do they come into the game?

This will likely lead to a ton of really crappy mods appearing soon. I love it.

The number plates still exist, but we are still awaiting the development of a better way to select them. Perhaps it'll be a nested menu selection mechanism, but it'll require some fiddling with the model, and the code to make it work. It's just one of those things on a very, very long list of lower priority things to do.

Parts 6 and 7 now available. Modeling a bumper as an additional mesh, and modeling a headlight with a skinned mesh.

Time to start doing some more focused body modding tutorials, like this one. How to do car body UV Unwraps with Blender 2.8

Fully timestamped video stream series, making a car body in blender 2.8

A very different process than what would be considered traditional. I make full use of shape kyes, abandoning the need to skin and weight the mesh. I use a shrinkwrap modifier to maintain my reflections throughout the modeling process. Also covered is a new way to make seams, so fixtures don't dive into them.

If you're interested in making bodies, this will give you an idea of what's involved to not just make a body, but to make a body that looks great.

And if not, you still might enjoy the totally hammy intro video :P

Here's a supplement to the Rim Mod tutorial video. Yesterday and today I did a total of 5 Rims, and I streamed the making of them all. So if you just want some inspiration beyond the main tutorial, hopefully you can find some here;

Here’s a badge mod tutorial video. This may or may not need an update in the near…or distant future as exporting badges to beam (with colored textures) is not working on my end. In fact, it’s not really working at all, though, after a conversation with the dev team, doesn’t seem to be an issue on my end, it’s sounds like an exporter issue, so hopefully we won’t have to change what we’re doing, but if we do, I’ll just do a follow up video explaining the changes.

But without further ado, behold!

@JohnDoe1974, here is the translation : Hallo!
