Quartz comes in all colors, which is why I think they used Rose Quartz. Personally, though, I can't stand that armor. I had a thought I was going to use myself to replace it (that I'm holding onto because I'm going to put it in my mod) but along the same lines you could replace it with something else altogether. Like... a dog trainer's uniform with all that padding? It does, after all, reduce all damage to 1 or less.
Any ideas for a glass staff? I already have something for obsidian but I can't think of a decent design for the glass sprite.

As for a glass staff, have you ever watched a glass blower before? As they push the air into the end of the molten glob it puffs up like an orb. You could do something like that--a thin tube and an orb. The end could even be glowing bright orange like it's still hot.
Can't really make it clear that's what it is. I might just have to go the route I did for the glass torch and make the major parts thinner and glass while the frame is still technically wood.
I know that steps on your toes a bit with the Obsidian Staff, but you could elaborate on that one's features by widening parts of the handle... particularly where the handle meets the eye gem.
EDIT: Another thought. If the glass orb doesn't work, you could base a staff on the Freeze Charm. It has a precedent of breaking on hit, and the fractal snowflake is itself a fragile idea, shattering or melting on a whim.
