Recoloring will I'm assuming work like any other textures and require you to use photoshop or another similar program. As far as duplicating it should be a pretty straight forward copy & paste then adjusting names so there are no conflicts and making sure the skill is calling for the correct edited texture files. I've barely touched skill modding and usually mess with item modding. Chances are the guys over at torchmodders have some helpful info on this.
